Chapter 1391 - 752: Losing His Temper
Chapter 1391 - 752: Losing His Temper
After Jimmy finished speaking, he took out his business card from his pocket and distributed it to the agents present: "Everyone, please contact me immediately if there is any progress on leads. Thank you."
Today's meeting primarily introduced the identities. The people here were agents from the Miami office and were unfamiliar with Jimmy, nor did they have any contact information. Unless they looked it up in the system, directly distributing business cards was more convenient. After all, Jimmy was sent by the headquarters specifically to investigate this case. These people were technically his temporary subordinates.
As these people packed up their documents and left, Jimmy said to Mark: "Mark, follow them. I'm worried they will mess things up."
Mark looked at Jimmy in surprise, then nodded. He understood what Jimmy meant. Being ordered around by an outsider definitely didn't sit well with them, and it's easy to guess they might cause trouble behind the scenes. Jimmy got Mark to follow them because Jimmy was conspicuous as a Chinese agent, being in the minority.
Jimmy knew that the hotel was involved, but the necessary steps still had to be taken, and the case needed to be properly investigated. It's just that the content and direction of the investigation were controlled by him.
The investigation direction was certainly to first seek leads, followed by background checks on everyone. If anyone here was involved behind the scenes, his investigation would definitely be obstructed, as there are many things that cannot be investigated; any investigation would definitely find clues.
This is also why Jimmy wanted to lead the investigation. If he followed others' instructions, then the final results would definitely not be something he wanted to see.
Back at the temporary office, Jimmy reorganized the notes he recorded in the meeting room. A proper investigation should follow leads and not personal speculation; otherwise, it wouldn't be convincing. As an experienced agent, he knew this basic principle.
Mark soon returned. Despite being Caucasian, nobody here knew him, so trying to glean any information would certainly be difficult. Jimmy wanted to understand these people's thoughts in hopes of finding someone he could use, hence letting Mark follow up. In reality, Mark returned saying he visited their office but didn't gather any useful information.
This was expected. Jimmy didn't push it, but this time, unlike his visits to headquarters, he needed to establish his authority. The environment was different; he used to have Peter from headquarters supporting him, which was relatively easier.
After organizing the data, Jimmy and Mark went to the hotel to rest. Though Miami's night was fascinating, due to their current roles and duties, they couldn't simply go out for fun, so they remained in the hotel. Of course, there was no news or updates on leads that whole night.
The next day, Jimmy and Mark returned to the temporary office. Today marked their first official day of investigation. Jimmy directly went to Austin Wright's agent's position: "Agent Wright, any progress?"
Wright: "No, the other agents are advancing their assigned parts of the investigation. They will inform us if there's any news."
Jimmy: "OK, have you found the yacht's navigation trajectory information?"
Wright: "No."
Jimmy nodded and went back to his office, "Mark, contact the Harriton Foundation and the yacht's insurance company to verify the yacht's GPS location information and port entry and exit information."
Mark checked his notebook: "The clues provided yesterday didn't have this information."
Jimmy: "Okay, start by contacting the Harriton Foundation to verify the yacht's insurance details. Insurance companies typically record related navigation information. I'll contact the Port Authority to check if they have AIS records of the yacht (Automatic Identification System)."
Mark nodded, took out his phone, and dialed the foundation's number provided by other agents yesterday. Meanwhile, Jimmy opened the computer to find the Miami Port Authority's number to inquire about the yacht's AIS records. Naturally, these queries couldn't be completed over the phone; Jimmy had to send an official FBI request for cooperation via fax to get the information.
Mark put down his phone with a serious expression. After Jimmy finished his tasks, he told Jimmy: "The people at the Harriton Foundation confirmed they have already provided the information to us, but the agents didn't present it at yesterday's meeting."
Jimmy looked up and frowned at Mark: "Are they sure?"
Mark: "Yes, agents had approached them the day after the explosion asking for information, and they did provide it."
Jimmy immediately stood up, "This also counts as an opportunity. Come with me."
Jimmy didn't even take the suit hanging on his chair, directly taking Mark back to Wright's agent's office. Jimmy remained true to his style, exposing three guns on his body instead of wearing the suit, which gave off a strong sense of intimidation. Other agents looked on in shock as Jimmy and Mark stormed into the main office; no other agent would carry that many guns.
Jimmy said sternly: "Agent Wright, I need an explanation."
Wright looked at Jimmy returning and stood up in surprise: "What? I don't understand what you mean."
