Chapter 1358 735: The Return of the Body
Chapter 1358 735: The Return of the Body
Alejandro: "A body, the person you talked to today, his main target..."
Ghost suddenly realized: "Oh, I see, it seems that gentleman is indeed important, I understand."
Alejandro: "So, what's your take?"
Ghost: "Since a gift is to be delivered, it should naturally be arranged by me as the host. Thank you, Mr. Shark. You can call me when you have time, goodbye."
Alejandro put the phone back beside the pillow, reached under the pillow to feel the gun, and then continued to sleep.
As long as the body returns, it doesn't matter who sends it. Alejandro has many ways to make Jimmy understand his irreplaceable role in this, he shouldn't even need to say anything—Jimmy should be able to guess it.
He believed that with the abilities of Ghost and their Sinaloa Group, handling the formalities in Mexico to return this undercover agent to the United States would not be an issue. Even on the U.S. side, there would be people cooperating with them to get it done, many must have been bought off by them.
On the next day, Alejandro received another call from Hunter: "Shark, wait in Albuquerque for another two days, someone will deliver it to Albuquerque in two days."
Alejandro: "OK, thank you."
Alejandro hung up and immediately called Jimmy, "Agent Yang, are you still in Albuquerque?"
Jimmy: "Yes, tomorrow we will fly to Washington, D.C. Is there something wrong?"
Alejandro: "If it's convenient, please wait another two days, someone will bring your colleague over."
Jimmy asked in surprise, "Where? Juarez?"
Alejandro: "Yes, some formalities need to be handled, two days should be roughly enough."
Jimmy: "Thank you, I will contact the office to prepare in advance. So that's it, I need to handle some tickets now."
Jimmy's thanks reassured Alejandro, they were all adults, they understood things well enough; Alejandro indeed had made some mistakes previously, but now with enough benefits, this hidden transaction should be completed.
Alejandro was busy most of the day, Jimmy was more at ease. After leaving Alejandro, he studied the situation at the border, he found that crossing the border didn't seem too complicated for him. Although there were border walls and rivers blocking the way, he could easily climb over given a secluded spot. After all, the so-called walls weren't completely smooth and devoid of grips, and his physical condition was more than enough.
Previously when entering Mexico through a tunnel, it was from Texas; going to Juarez would be more convenient from New Mexico. Even if that passage is still usable, it is not convenient, not to mention it is too far.
In fact, as long as Jimmy is given some time, he could definitely find a tunnel near Juarez that crosses the U.S.-Mexico border. However, this would take quite a bit of time, which he might not have right now.
Originally he planned to find a way to reach the border during the day, then see if he could deal with this Ghost at night. However, Alejandro's call changed his plan.
Victoria works for the Sinaloa Group, and this Ghost should be her superior. To be able to bring Seventeen's body over, it surely must go through these people, which means there is an element of Ghost extending goodwill here. Public interception created a very bad impression, compensating through this matter showed his sincerity.
Jimmy discussed the situation with Javier, and Hope was also informed. Several people canceled their previously booked tickets. Since the exact time wasn't certain, they decided to wait until there was a clear plan to arrange further.
Solving their issues was relatively easy, but contacting headquarters and the New York office was more troublesome, especially for Jimmy. When he called Ruiz, he clearly felt Ruiz's very low spirits on the other end. It seemed like he had been very close with Seventeen. Although he was prepared mentally, given Seventeen had disappeared for a month, an accident could be expected.
Ruiz told Jimmy and the others to return to New York as soon as Seventeen's casket arrived; he needed to notify Seventeen's family and quickly hung up the phone.
-----------------
At Albuquerque Airport, a small cargo plane swiftly landed on the designated runway and taxied to the cargo area as instructed. Jimmy, along with Javier and Hope, was already waiting there, behind them was a hearse from a funeral home, accompanied by a personnel from the Albuquerque office standing nearby.
Three Mexican men in black suits appeared from the open rear hatch, with the latter two supporting the coffin in the middle as they slowly descended from the plane. The man leading them walked up to Jimmy with a serious expression, "Are you Mr. Yang?"
Jimmy nodded, "Yes, I am Jimmy Yang."
The man handed a signature slip to Jimmy, "Please sign."
Jimmy signed his name, the man took back the signed document, and stepped aside, "My condolences."
The two men at the back brought the coffin in front of Jimmy and the others, Mexico's preparations were thorough, it was a coffin with refrigeration. Jimmy opened the upper half to take a look, confirmed it was Seventeen, received a white flower from Javier, and gently placed it inside the coffin. After closing the lid, he thanked the three men.
The three quickly returned to the plane and contacted the tower to head to the apron.
Two people from the funeral home's vehicle behind Jimmy emerged, and together they loaded the coffin onto the hearse headed for Double Eagle Airport, with Jimmy and the others following out of the airport.
Prior arrangements had been made as it wasn't suitable to return Seventeen's remains by commercial flight. Ruiz managed to secure some funds to specially charter a flight back to New York. Finding a suitable plane for transporting a body wasn't easy, but thanks to the efforts of the FBI's Manhattan office, everything was arranged in advance.
Jimmy and the others arrived at Double Eagle Airport, where the Albuquerque office members took back their car. The group carried their luggage up the plane while Seventeen's body was secured in the cargo area, awaiting the captain's contact with the tower to take off immediately, leaving New Mexico to return to New York.
The flight proceeded smoothly, but the mood among the three on board wasn't particularly good. Their mission wasn't exactly perfect.
Jimmy and Hope's investigation into the case of kidnapped and imprisoned girls concluded only a segment of it. The trafficked girls weren't rescued, they achieved considerable progress but did not address the issue thoroughly.
Javier and Jimmy were to rescue Seventeen, but ultimately returned only with a body. Seventeen never waited to be saved. Additionally, after enduring the explosion attack, Javier still had his head bandaged, making it less than perfect.
As for Jimmy, he just wanted to go home. Having been away for almost two months, he rarely had such long separations since being with Nia. Though they often kept in touch by phone at night, he wished to return to his family as soon as possible.
Kennedy Airport was extremely busy, so they definitely couldn't choose it. Instead, it was Teterboro Airport in New Jersey. As the plane stopped and the hatch opened, Jimmy immediately spotted Ruiz standing below, accompanied by several Manhattan anti-gang unit agents waiting for them.
