Chapter 1281 700: Operation

Chapter 1281 700: Operation

Jimmy and his team are not gods; they can't know everything. Even if they made a point to jot down some of Baltimore's street names during the day, there's no way to accurately record all the roads.

The radio buzzed with mobile location updates from the Baltimore office, changing constantly with place names, making it impossible for them to carefully distinguish every road.

Jimmy frustratedly slapped the map in his hand, "Hope, let's not worry about it; drive north. Let's get out of the city first. I suspect if he's heading this way, it's to go to a hidden port or the coast."

Hope, who had been following Jimmy's directions based on the map, understood their situation now: "Okay."

Jimmy took a deep breath, placed the map on the center console, and picked up the car's radio: "Agent Morrison, we need to briefly block off Frank's escape routes out of the city. Can you contact the police?"

Morrison: "Agent Yang, what's your plan?"

Jimmy: "He doesn't know we've located him yet. If we can temporarily control and block him, we should have the chance to get ahead of him. I think he's headed for a port or the coast. We're unfamiliar with the roads here and can't catch up; we need to slow him down."

There was no reply from Morrison, and after ten seconds, he finally said: "Understood, I'll arrange something."

Working outside isn't as easy as in New York. There, Jimmy had become too familiar over the years, with straightforward roads easy to find shortcuts for interception. Now, they're heading north normally, but taking a shortcut for an interception is virtually impossible.

Hope was indeed an excellent assistant. Peter must have arranged it beforehand. He complied with Jimmy's requests without any questions, fulfilling them cooperatively. In that sense, he truly has potential; at least now, he seems very competent for the job.

Jimmy took advantage of the time to double-check the roads north of Baltimore in the faint car light. According to their current plan, there's a high chance they'll intercept Frank in the northern part of the city. Next, they need to consider whether to arrest directly or set a trap.

Soon, Jimmy's car left the city and reached the outskirts to wait, with radio updates coming in continuously. Frank's previous location had stopped but changed direction within minutes to continue moving, and now Agent Morrison and the others were in pursuit from behind, expected to catch up soon.

After waiting for a while, Morrison suddenly called Jimmy, "Yang, I think we need to change our plan."

Indeed, judging from Morrison's negotiation with Jimmy during the day, he was also greedy. Jimmy glanced at Hope and said, "You want to use him as bait?"

Morrison: "Yes, with the scale of our operation, we need a matching yield to report upstairs."

Jimmy: "Okay, I agree with your idea, but in that case, I'll need something to take back to Washington, D.C."

Morrison: "I'm confident we'll all get our gains."

Jimmy: "Let's do it, Frank is not far from us. I'll let him get away."

Morrison: "Thank you."

Jimmy hung up and told Hope: "Switch, I'll drive. Change the target, track Frank, and find his escape route."

Hope nodded, opened the door, and switched seats with Jimmy. Once inside, Jimmy turned off the headlights and interior lights, kept the engine running, and quietly waited by the roadside.

Frank was still quite anxious. Just moments ago in the city, he encountered two consecutive different main roads closed by the police, nearly causing him to go berserk. He thought he had been exposed and the police were capturing him, but seeing the police cars only blocking road traffic without checking each vehicle made him realize he was too nervous.

He thought his counter-surveillance actions were satisfactory, changing vehicles continuously, ditching phones, and finally dumping an unregistered phone before leaving for safety, which should hold the FBI up for at least one or two days.

The last car he got from a gang-controlled used dealership had no records, and the plates were local. As long as he didn't provoke the police, no one would suspect he was in the car, so it wasn't a big issue.

He's in big trouble this time, though he saw the FBI coming for him, no one said why they were after him. But he couldn't let the FBI catch him. A couple of days ago, he and others killed two FBI agents, and if they were after him for that, it was much more serious than their smuggling crimes.

So he fled without hesitation. As for his family and others, he would have time to contact them when he was safe and then decide what to do next.

Fortunately, his years in smuggling introduced him to many people. Although the company was likely marked by the FBI now, and their smuggling routes unusable, using others' passageways to leave Baltimore and the U.S. East Coast was still doable. No matter the destination, the priority was to leave first.

However, since it was someone else's route, he had no control and could only arrange his schedule according to their demands.
