Chapter 696: Nausea
Chapter 696: Nausea
The morning rolled in peacefully and Coco busied herself inside the bathroom, hauled over to the toilet seat and threw her soul out.
The moment she woke up, she felt the agitating feeling crawling into her throat and before anyone else woke after her, she rushed inside the bathroom and started retching her guts out.
She has been curled against the toilet seat for a good while now, not bothering to listen if someone else had woken up.
"I can’t.." She mumbled, but before she could finish what she wanted to say, she felt the bile rising up once again, so she leaned forward and let the disgusting liquid creep up her throat, throwing up whatever was left on her stomach.
She finished throwing up before she grabbed the shower head sitting beside her and turned it on, letting water soak her head and drip down onto the bowl.
She still has mixed feelings about the unexpected pregnancy, but she’s not sure if she really impregnated one of them.
Though.. Heiren is right, we haven’t actively used protection even when we kept going at it like rabbits. Coco thought, staring at the toilet water that is mixed with her bile.
She wasn’t really thinking much of anything at the moment, just letting the slightly cold water drip over her head to clear her thoughts.
"Coco? Goodness, Coco!"
However, a startled and terrified scream snapped her out of her head.
Coco blinked and she blindly reached for the flush, and when she felt her fingertips graze it, she pressed it down and watched the water flush down her disgusting bile.
"Are you okay?" Came the frantic voice, which was quickly followed by a hand resting on her shoulder. "Goodness, how long have you been here?"
Coco turned her attention to the person who walked inside the bathroom, eyebrows furrowing in confusion, but soon felt relieved when she saw that it was just none other than Quizen.
"I don’t know." She answered his question, letting him reach out to the shower head and grab it out of her hand.
"I thought you were taking a bath.." Quizen mumbled, his blue eyes shifting to observe his wife’s surroundings to check whatever she may have used while she was inside the bathroom.
"I brought my towel with me and was excited to join you." Quizen sighed, the sound coming out more relieved than resigned.
He felt relieved to see that nothing seemed out of place or looked like it could be harmful for Coco.
One of them may be carrying her child, but that doesn’t mean they don’t feel sick themselves— they do, but it’s rare, and when it happens, the ones who impregnated them usually feel the symptoms tenfold stronger.
Quizen sighed once more, his eyes sweeping towards the shower head before deciding to just drop it on the floor and embrace his wife.
He wrapped his arms around her as gently as he could, his lips pursing with a frown following. "Are you okay? Are you only feeling nauseous? Do you feel anything else right now?"
The mediator bombarded her with questions, trying to gauge out any kind of reaction from her.
Unfortunately, Coco merely shook her head and leaned her face on his shoulder, eyes fluttering shut in content.
"I’m fine now." She mumbled, eyebrows furrowing lightly. "But I want to brush my teeth."
Quizen quickly nodded his head and let a chuckle escape past his lips. "Of course. I’ll have your toothbrush and toothpaste ready for you. How does that sound?"
"Good." Coco muttered, pulling away from his hug. "But also, it sucks. I should be the one taking care of you."
"You already took care of me enough." The mediator laughed and scrambled to get back on his feet, turning his attention to the sink. "Let me just get your toothbrush, okay? Stay here. Don’t do anything."
"As if I’m able to do anything else at the moment." Coco grumbled, crossing her arms on her chest and leaning her head on the toilet seat. "I feel like shit."
"I know, I know." Quizen laughed, but it sounded more nervous this time. "Anyway, I’ll be quick. Stay still."
Just like that, he was gone.
Coco let out a sigh and she pulled herself off the floor, eyes shifting to the shower that was still running and reached out to turn it off.
"I feel bad for wasting water like this." Coco sighed to herself, picking up the showerhead and putting it back where it belonged, being careful as to not drop it from its holder.
Then, once she was satisfied, she turned away from the shower and walked out of the room.
The washroom and bathroom are two different rooms, but they are located right next to each other, so it wasn’t difficult for her to walk over to the washroom and wait for Quizen to come back.
Her hair was soaking wet and it was dripping water into her dry clothes.
She wasn’t sure if Quizen would take long to retrieve her toothbrush, so she busied herself by stepping inside the washroom and walking over to the spacious round bathtub ahead of her.
"I really feel like I’m in a public bathhouse." Coco mumbled, plopping herself down onto the floor and dipping her right foot inside the warm water.
The servants must have seen her rushing out of the room assigned to her and her husbands, because the washroom’s bathtub wasn’t steaming like this when she first passed it earlier.
Coco let out a hum, eyes softening as she looked down on the lukewarm water.
A lot has happened since she transmigrated into this world.. And a lot has changed since she became Coco Hughes, but her desire to still be herself didn’t change.
When she first met her mediators, she wasn’t expecting herself to fall in love with them.
When she first met Renaldo and Jacques, she wasn’t expecting them to stay friends with her for long— and then, she met Jonathan.. Who is also going to be part of Renaldo’s and Jacques’ family.
A lot has happened and she feels content.
Though she still feels disappointed at her mother’s action, she can’t deny to herself that she can stay upset for long at Cleora.
Her decision to let her mother know about the possible pregnancy last night was impulsive of her, but she doesn’t regret it— Cleora offered a hand to help, so she will take that hand to get the help her husbands may need.
Putting that aside.. She’s worrying about her relationship with Kairo.
Lately, she could feel herself lusting for the hybrid, but they aren’t married just yet, so she’s fighting so hard to stop herself from dragging him into bed.
Her husbands may have expressed their approval to have the hybrid add to their little and expanding family, but it doesn’t mean that she will take advantage of that approval.
"I have to hurry up and marry him." She mumbled under her breath, sighing.
"Marry who?" Came a voice from behind, making Coco flinch and snap her head towards the direction of the voice.
"Q-Quizen.." Coco gasped, placing a hand on her chest and exhaling shakily.
The mediator blinked, his grip on his wife’s toothbrush tightening slightly when he noticed her pale face.
"I’m so sorry." Quizen apologized before quickly dropping to his knees and stretching out his free hand. "I didn’t mean to. Are you okay? I— I didn’t mean to scare you like that.."
Coco huffed, but her hand stayed in her chest. "It’s fine. I guess I was so deep in my thoughts that I didn’t hear you come in."
"I’m really sorry." The mediator sighed heavily, leaning his head towards her shoulder and burying his face there. "I’ll call you next time. I promise.. I hope I didn’t make you feel scared that much."
Coco felt her shoulders sag and felt the tension leave her body.
Quizen sounded so genuine with his apology that she couldn’t help, but lean her head against his head and wrap her arms around him, fixing her body posture so she could hug him properly.
"You’re so cute." Coco mumbled, rubbing her cheek on his head. "But I want to brush my teeth."
The mediator perked up and pulled away from her arms, handing her the toothbrush he’s holding with a sheepish look on his face.
"Here." He murmured, a crooked smile resting on his face. "After you’re done brushing your teeth, can we take a bath together? I’ll get your towel and robe while you’re busy."
"Sure." Coco laughed, her hand enclosing around the toothbrush. "Hurry up, okay? I want to make out so bad with you right now."
Quizen’s face brightened up significantly and he didn’t waste any single second lingering inside the washroom, rushing outside of the room to get the things she will need.
Coco giggled, her nausea forgotten.
She stood up from the floor, the sound of the water rippling echoing inside the room, and approached the sink placed near the doorway.
With the promise of kissing Quizen afterwards, she started brushing her teeth meticulously.
