Chapter 695: Sick?
Chapter 695: Sick?
"Mother." Heiren said, acknowledging Cleora with a nod as he panted, catching his breath. "Please pardon Zaque’s behavior.. I believe that Coco got him riled up."
"Riled up?" Cleora echoed, eyebrows furrowing.
Is Coco looking for a fight against her own husband? Has she lost her mind and decided that it’s for her to assert her dominance?
Cleora doesn’t know what the mediator meant, so she stayed quiet to let him continue.
"You see, we found out something important and life changing just tonight." Quizen spoke up, taking a step forward to get Cleora’s attention. "I don’t know if it’s appropriate to tell you though.."
"Why wouldn’t it be?" Cleora asked, frowning. "If this is about my daughter, then I have the right to know."
"You have a point, but considering that you’re her mother, I’m sure that you know that she doesn’t like when people get into her business." Alhai pointed out with a monotonous voice, making Cleora flinch.
The mediator was right. Coco doesn’t like it when people put their noses somewhere it doesn’t belong.
Cleora pursed her lips and sighed heavily, raising a hand to press her fingers into her temples. "Right, right, right.. I appreciate you letting me know, so I’ll just try to wait for her to tell me herself.."
Alhai smiled, nodding his head. "That’s good to know. You really are a good mother."
Upon hearing those words, Cleora felt her heart beat painfully inside her chest, right in time for the memories that morning to resurface— the look on Coco’s face, her hurtful words, and her disappointment all coming back to mind.
Cleora shook her head, her frown deepening.
Heiren and Quizen shared a glance, sensing that Cleora seemed like she wasn’t feeling herself today.
Another part of the two assumed that it was probably because of Cleora’s fight with Coco that morning, but who knows? The mother and the daughter have something similar, and it was unfortunately about how they shut themselves out to the world.
"Alright then." Cleora grumbled and let her hand fall back to her side. "I’ll leave the four of you to it."
She stepped aside and made her way down the hall, or at least tried to, but she was stopped when she heard a door creaking open which caused her to whip her head around to look at the direction of where it came from.
It came from the room assigned to Coco and her husbands, and it was Coco who poked her head out of the door.
Coco blinked and shifted her attention to all the people standing in front of the door, her eyebrows furrowing in confusion.
"What are you guys doing standing there?" She asked, opening the door wider and nudged her head inside the room. "Come on, get inside. It’s time for all of you to sleep— and yes, I mean all of you."
"Even me?" Kairo asked, pointing a finger to himself.
"I said all of you, didn’t I?." Coco repeated, raising an eyebrow towards the hybrid.
The purple eyed man’s shoulders sagged and his body slumped forward slightly, the tone Coco used on him making him feel a little sad.
"Forgive me." The hybrid mumbled, an apologetic look crossing his features.
"If you are, then get inside." Coco huffed and crossed her arms, her eyes narrowing towards the mediators. "Get inside and get yourselves ready for a bath. After that, join me on the bed so all of us can sleep early."
"Isn’t it too early for us to sleep?" Quizen inquired, but he still went inside the room.
"It’s not." Coco rebutted and shifted her attention to Heiren, nudging her head towards the room. "Get inside as well. Zaque said that he needs your help. He’s in a peachy situation."
The second husband blinked and did as he was told, scrambling to get inside the room and pushing past Quizen, who walked so slowly so he could linger around Coco’s presence, which caused the mediator to stumble to the side.
Coco gasped and quickly lunged forward, her hands shooting out to catch him.
Quizen’s heart fluttered inside his chest when he felt Coco’s arms wrap around him in a protective manner, his cheeks warming up and the corner of his lips twitching in satisfaction.
Truly, there’s nothing better than being in his wife’s arms.
"Starting right at this moment, no more pushing among yourselves!" Coco hissed, her eyes narrowing into a menacing glare towards Heiren’s way. "It’s forbidden!"
The brown haired mediator flinched and quickly nodded his head, not wanting to make Coco angrier.
Cleora watched everything happen by her spot on the hallway, her eyes wide in surprise upon hearing her daughter scold her own husband for pushing another husband out of the way.
Not to mention, her protective stance.. What’s going on with their little family for Coco to act like that?
Coco whisked her head to her direction, making Cleora blink when their gazes met, then Coco let Quizen go and ushered the mediator farther inside the room.
Once Kairo and Alhai also walked inside, Coco stepped out and closed the door.
Cleora’s heart almost leaped out of her chest at how happy she felt when Coco turned to her, seemingly like she was ready to talk to her again, but her mood took a drastic turn due to the words that left Coco’s mouth.
"I need a doctor." Coco stated bluntly, her arms crossing over her chest. "I need my husbands to have their bodies checked."
"What?" Cleora mumbled, her earlier worries coming back, but it was tenfold this time. "What’s wrong with them? Are they sick? They told me that you’re the one who’s sick— Do.. Don’t worry though! I’ll have a physician come in as early as tonight. I promise!"
Cleora quickly caught herself about to spill what Coco’s husbands told her and immediately retracted the words that were about to get out of her mouth.
"I’m fine." Coco grumbled, sighing. "But my husbands aren’t. I impregnated one of them."
