Chapter 694: Zaque? Zaque!
Chapter 694: Zaque? Zaque!
Coco let out a huff as she leaned against Zaque, her hands clutching his shirt tightly.
After a good while of staying outside, the mediators and the hybrid decided that it’s the best time to bring Coco back to the castle— which is a few meters walk from the house.
The first husband carried Coco into his arms because she still felt dizzy, even after they whisked away the food that his friends brought back, but he didn’t mind since Coco is clinging to him like a bear.
"I don’t feel so good." Coco murmured, her face buried onto his shoulder.
"I know." Zaque hummed and caressed her back. "We’re close to the castle gates, so hang in there, okay? I’ll make sure that your mother’s people serve anything that will make you sicker than this."
Coco groaned, turning her face to his neck and inhaled his scent— a mix of his manly smell and something sweet hit her nostrils, making her relax completely in his arms.
"You smell so good." Coco mumbled, pressing her nose into his neck, right on his pulse.
Her action made the mediator’s breath get caught in his throat and caused his cheeks to become warmer than average, followed by a shudder that went down his spine.
"I’m.. Glad that you like it." Zaque stammered out, keeping his blank face on.
Coco hummed in approval, pressing her nose further into his skin and going as far as planting a soft kiss on his neck, making his heart flutter with reckless abandon inside his chest.
He wondered what could have happened for Coco to be this clingy and affectionate towards him tonight.
Was it because of her nausea? Was it because he smelled so good that she couldn’t help, but kiss his skin? Was it because she wanted more from him?
Zaque doesn’t know and he couldn’t dwell too much into it because he could see the towering gates of the castle ahead, ceasing any thoughts about his wife for a moment to force himself to get faster to their destination.
Alhai and the others caught on to what Zaque wanted to do, so they decided to pick up their pace as well.
Once they reached the gates, the knights stationed by the top quickly recognized them so they immediately gestured towards their comrades below to open the gates.
The metallic entrance creaked open and welcomed them inside the grounds of the Duchess.
Zaque didn’t waste any time to carry Coco past the gates and ran towards the massive doors that sat on top of the grand staircase before him, his feet propelling him forward to get inside in no time.
Usually, when someone rushes to get up or down the stairs, they will have a hard time doing so, but Zaque.. Zaque didn’t break a sweat.
His friends grew confused at how fast he was being and couldn’t help, but follow his trail with their own quickened pace and ran after him— the bottom of their boots crunching lightly against the ground.
The knights standing outside of the castle’s doors perked up when they spotted Zaque running towards them.
"Open the door!" Zaque called, huffing out a breath as his hold on Coco tightened. "I must bring the Duchess’ daughter inside!"
The knights quickly went to work and scrambled off from their post to push the massive doors open, alarming the servants stationed nearby that someone important was entering their mistress’ territory without her permission.
The servants quickly grab hold of whatever they can get to protect themselves and their territory just in case it’s a guest that has the intention of harming their mistress, however.. They hid their self proclaimed weapons away when they saw that it was just Zaque and the others.
The people that rushed inside are important for the Duchess, so they turned their heads away and resumed their tasks at hand.
Zaque continued his way over to the grand staircase and that’s when Coco pulled her head away from her husband’s neck, her eyebrows furrowing in confusion before quickly looking around to check their surroundings.
"Zaque?" She called absentmindedly, eyes blinking owlishly when she spotted the familiar pillars and paintings of her mother’s castle.
The mediator didn’t answer, just minding his own business while making his way through the large and long hallway to get to their assigned room— which was right next to Cleora’s bedroom.
"Zaque!" Heiren called for his friend’s name because he noticed that Zaque was acting strange.
Once again, the mediator didn’t answer nor stopped in his tracks and just kept walking down the hall, his grip on his wife’s body tightening a little more.
Due to Heiren’s frantic call, the servants that were near them stopped what they were doing and looked over to their directions, their curiosity piqued and unable to mind their own businesses.
The only thing they saw was Zaque’s blank face and his hurried form marching down the hall before they spotted a familiar woman coming out of her room.
Cleora closed the door to her room and turned in her heels, but she froze in her tracks when she caught sight of her son-in-law carrying her beloved daughter in his arms, who looked quite spooked and pale.
She had just finished tucking away the present she wanted to give to Coco and was just about to head to the kitchen to have the chef cook something sweet that could go with the present for Coco, but then, she saw her daughter in her husband’s arms.
Worry immediately washed over Cleora’s body and she couldn’t help, but meet Zaque halfway.
"What’s wrong—" Cleora asked, only to feel frazzled when Zaque walked past her and entered their room before slamming the door shut behind him.
Cleora froze in the hallway and her eyes were wide with disbelief.
Down the hall, she spotted Heiren and others running towards her, but unlike Zaque, the four of them stopped in front of her and were wanting heavily.
