Chapter 685: New house [2]
Chapter 685: New house [2]
The front doors swung open with a soft creak and the group stepped inside— only to halt in unison.
Silence fell into them, but Cleora kept walking.
The entrance hall soared upward, light streaming through tall glass panels in front, casting sharp reflections across polished stone floors.
There was no furniture, no rugs, no curtains— just a big open space that ended with a staircase.
Coco’s house is huge.
The interior design is completely different from the houses they have landed their eyes upon.
Alhai let out a low hum under his breath and Zaque took a cautious step forward— the sound of the bottom of his boot echoing unnaturally loud across the empty spaces.
".. It’s even bigger on the inside." Someone from behind muttered, but Coco couldn’t tell who it was.
Bob and Marie, on the other hand, were speechless— eyes widening; jaws slightly hanging as their gazes swept around the spacious room, taking in every detail, every corner.
It was massive.
It’s empty, yes, but the potential of this house? It’s limitless, and Bob could already feel his hands twitching to make the best furniture for his employer.
He felt that no matter how hard he worked, his creations won’t fit Coco’s criteria.
She’s someone important to the Duchess after all.
Despite all the awe and astonishment that came from the group, Cleora continued walking and turned to the right.
Coco immediately moved to follow her mother, eager beyond words to check out the rest of the place— still gripping Alhai’s hand, she tugged him deeper into the house, following Cleora who had already disappeared around the corner.
Heiren, Kairo, Zaque, and Quizen fell in behind them without a word, soles echoing on the polished floor.
Then, they stepped inside.
The kitchen.. That’s what greeted them and all four men froze upon seeing it.
It was spacious— larger than any kitchen they had ever seen, because of its marbled countertops that stretched along the walls, interrupted only by deep sinks and wide cabinets with polished handles.
An island was connected to the countertop and it was big enough to seat six people.
Near them, there was a space that could fit a big dining table and several seats, so all of them assumed that the kitchen and dining room were combined into one just like in their previous house.
However, tall windows adorned the wall and they let in soft morning light, glinting off the dark surfaces of the countertops that looked forged from moonlight itself.
Heiren finally exhaled.
".. You could train chefs here." He muttered, completely in awe.
Coco perked up at the breathless whisper and finally let go of Alhai’s hand to spin, grab, and tug Heiren into the middle of the room.
Once in the center of it all, she spun the two of them around.
"This.." She said breathlessly, giggling and bright with delight. "Is where you can make anything you want. You want to try new recipes? I’ll get you the ingredients for it. You need a taste tester? I’ll offer my tongue to you."
Heiren’s face flushed with a deep shade of red and his heart leapt in his throat.
Goodness, how can his wife be so romantic and cheesy at a time like this? In the presence of her own mother, too!
"Take the flirting for the evening, Coco." Cleora called her daughter, as if on cue to save Heiren from embarrassment. "Come follow me to the next room."
Bob and Marie peeked in, and immediately started whispering about counter height versus cabinet spacing.
Coco huffed and her fingers instinctively tightened around Heiren’s hand.
She turned her head to look at her mother’s direction, to retort something to her statement, but the words died down on her tongue when she spotted Cleora standing by the far left corner of the room, where a doorway stood.
Coco’s jaw dropped because the kitchen has two doorways like the ones she sees from movies.
She lived in a small house with her mother and sisters, but it was cozy and warm despite how cramped it might have felt sometimes.
So to think that her mother would do something like this—
"You’re so amazing, mama." Coco breathed out, eyes twinkling with both wonder and awe, making Cleora shake her head.
"I’m not the one who built this place." Cleora pointed out, a huff escaping her lips that sounded suspiciously similar to an amused laugh. "You should thank the construction workers. They worked hard making the blueprint come to life."
"I’ll thank them!" Coco exclaimed, causing all eyes to turn to her.
"Sure, sure." Cleora laughed and nudged her head towards the doorway. "Come on. We still have some rooms to explore."
Coco giggled and tugged Heiren forward, skipping towards her mother. "Okay!"
Cleora chuckled at her daughter’s enthusiasm. "The first floor has the kitchen, the living room, and four extra rooms. What you turn them into is your choice, but I recommend turning this one—"
The three of them walked through the doorway and stepped into another spacious room.
"— into a library of sorts." Cleora finished her sentence, smiling at Coco. "Or you can just turn it into a play room, then the room that has the staircase can be the living room."
"I was already planning to turn the big room up front to the living room anyway." Coco smiled, loving the fact that her mother has the same idea as her.
"That’s good, because beside this one, the kitchen, and that room, the other three rooms have doors." Cleora stated, nudging her head towards the other doorway by the far left corner of the room. "The next one is bigger than these rooms, so I’m excited about what kind of rooms you’ll decide on."
Coco blinked and once again, followed behind her mother as Cleora walked across the room to get through the doorway on the corner.
Heiren trailed quietly beside her, still stunned and in awe, with the others trailing behind the three of them.
