New World with Four Husbands

Chapter 422: You have a what??

Chapter 422: You have a what??

A day had passed since the dinner and Coco now found herself being pulled along by Quizen and Zaque as they ventured through the city square.

The mediators, now brimming with youthful energy, eagerly dragged her from shop to shop, their excited faces revealing boundless curiosity— except for Alhai, of course.

He looked like he didn’t want to be with anyone.

Coco’s initial surprise slowly melted away, replaced by a mix of bemusement and acceptance of her fate as they went from store to store like a pair of excited puppies.

There was no resisting their enthusiasm.

Coco had just wrapped up a relatively easy task assigned by her guild and was on her way back home after a quick departure to the guild.

She was expecting herself to be resting once she got home, but as she stepped through the front door, she was surprised to find the husbands, along with Rey and Rogue, in the process of leaving.

The sight struck her as rather unusual, and she paused, tilting her head slightly in confusion at the scene before her.

It seemed as though the entire household was suddenly very busy, each having someplace to be— which was strange, the husbands shouldn’t be anywhere today.

They told her themselves.

Before Coco could even open her mouth to ask about the situation, she found herself being promptly escorted out of the house by the husbands, the others following suit.

The speed and surprising stubbornness of their leaving left little room for questions or protests from her.

As she was led away, Coco found herself wondering about the sudden departure and what could possibly be happening.

Coco blinked as she found herself being led along without any explanation, allowing them to guide her wherever they desired.

The lack of information puzzled her, yet a part of her was curious by their secretive behavior— all of them looked quite pleased and excited after all.

After half an hour, Rey and Rogue separated themselves from the group which gave the husbands some time to continue their shopping spree around the city square.

Of course, Coco doesn’t mind this, but..

"So, is someone going to explain why we were all shopping, and why am I not paying?" She asked, her gaze moving from one face to another, awaiting an explanation.

Approximately an hour had passed since Rey and Rogue left when Coco had been led through a series of seemingly random errands, the true purpose of their shopping spree which remained a mystery.

Finally, the group came to a halt, settling into a cozy little cafe and gently guiding Coco into a comfortable seat.

As they settled themselves around her, they took their own seats, each displaying a mischievous and satisfied smile upon seeing the perplexing expression on Coco’s face.

After the waitress had finished taking their orders and left, Coco couldn’t help but steal a few glances at the mediators around her, waiting for one of them to give her an explanation for this surprising outing.

Finally, after a few moments of silent contemplation, she broke the silence again, her voice holding a slight irritation.

"Well? Is no one going to answer me?" She huffed, crossing her arms.

Zaque, seated on Coco’s left, leaned forward and flashed her a charming smile— and as she looked closely, she could see the dimple on his cheek, causing her heart to skip a beat.

"We’re here to celebrate because we have a job now." Zaque mused, his gaze shifting from Coco’s eyes to her lips, his own heart beating fast.

His sudden proximity along with the gentle curve of his lips made it momentarily difficult for Coco to focus on his words.

However, she quickly snapped out of her brief daze and processed the information he had provided, her eyebrows furrowing in confusion.

"A job?" She asked, her curiosity piqued and the earlier annoyance replaced by a sense of dread.

Zaque nodded in affirmation, his smile soft and his gaze warm as he turned his attention towards Quizen, who sat across from them.

Coco’s eyes followed the direction of his nudge, settling on Quizen as the blue haired mediator picked up where Zaque left off.

"That’s right." Quizen confirmed with a nod. "We both discovered a job opportunity."

The news that both Zaque and Quizen had found employment left her unsure of how to feel about it because the reason why she became a licensed hunter was to provide for them.

She glanced between the two and looked away immediately. "So.. What kind of job is it?"

Quizen chuckled, his happiness clear in the joyous lilt of his voice. "I’ve been employed by the Rousey Bar— the bar we walked by on our way here."

Okay, she knew the Rousey Bar because it’s a well-known establishment in the hunter guild.

Coco’s frown deepened as she processed Quizen’s words, confusion etched across her face, her concern obvious. "Did you apply for the job?"

Zaque, sensing her worry, gently nudged her shoulder in reassurance.

"No, he didn’t have to apply." He explained, a comforting smile playing at the corner of his mouth, slightly worried as to why Coco looked anxious. "He was scouted."

Coco swiveled her head to look at Zaque, surprise evident in her eyes as he mentioned that Quizen had been scouted for the job.

"Scouted?" She repeated, her voice filled more with curiosity than worry now. "When did this happen?"

"Don’t worry about it." Quizen said and only offered her a soft smile in response, his expression nonchalant and reassuring, his casual reassurance did little to calm the question that lingered in the air.

Coco’s frown deepened further, her worries and unanswered questions mounting.

"I don’t have to worry about it?" She echoed, the words sounding more like a frustrated statement than a question.

She crossed her arms over her chest, her irritation apparent in her stance. "You can’t just drop these things on me and expect me not to worry."

Then, a grin emerged in Quizen’s face. "You’re worried about me?"
