New World with Four Husbands

Chapter 399: A walk

Chapter 399: A walk

Coco walked down the stairs with Jacques by her side.

Contrary to what she decided earlier, she ended up not telling Jacques about Lala’s existence and just skimmed over the existence of her otherworldly abilities.

Jacques seemed satisfied with the truth about Coco not being the infamous Coco Hughes and decided to drop it at that, which Coco was thankful for because she was still feeling a little hesitant.

As the two descended the stairs, the kitchen door swung open and the light from inside came spilling out of the room, then Renaldo walked out.

He stopped in his tracks when he spotted Coco and his wife walking down, a smile forming in his face.

"I was about to get you two." The mediator said, moving to the side so the two women could walk past through him and into the kitchen. "Did you two have fun?"

"Oh, we had soooo much fun." Jacques giggled, the sound catching the attention of others around the table.

Coco ignored the married couple and proceeded to walk over to the table, a seat was already pulled between Heiren and Quizen so she went ahead, then took a seat on the pulled chair.

"Did you have fun with Jacques?" Heiren asked, pushing a plate filled with food in front of Coco.

She nodded as a response with a small smile emerging in her face. "It was fun and we got to clear things up between us.. I also found out a few things regarding.. Me."

There was a pause by the end of her sentence which was immediately noticed by the four mediators who are married to her— their eyes were glued to her for a little before they looked away once Jacques and Renaldo took a seat.

"Thank you for letting us stay here for a couple of days." Renaldo said, shooting a thankful nod towards Zaque’s way.

Coco was adamant on letting them know that the house belonged to Zaque and not Coco so in order to respect their friend’s wishes, they decided to go along with her and express their gratitude in a way that will make Coco happy.

Of course, Zaque tried to tell them that the house doesn’t belong to him anymore, but to Coco’s— again, Coco didn’t like that so he ended up accepting what she wanted.

It hurt him a little to see Coco refusing that the house is hers because she’s married to him.

It was as if she didn’t want to be tied to him or to anyone among the husbands and if that were the actual case, then.. He doesn’t know what he will do.

He hasn’t confessed to Coco yet, but with the thing that has been going on lately, he feels like whatever they have going on between them will fall apart once he does— he’s scared, so scared that Coco will leave them sooner than he had anticipated.

He can’t bear the thought or afford to lose her when he’s about to get his life together.

"You’re welcome." Zaque stated, smiling.

Keeping the people Coco had met and befriended is one of the best ways to slither his way inside her heart, no?

With the lunch being served before everyone, they wasted no time digging in and filling their empty stomachs, all the while being careful to not eat too much.

Some of them are still hungover, but the food looked and smelled delicious so they were tempted to eat.

The meal took a while before they were finished due to Jacques and Quizen asking a couple of questions every while and then to keep the atmosphere inside the kitchen light.

Everyone took notice of this and decided to go along, answering the questions of the two if they wanted to.

The meals Heiren and Renaldo cooked were top notch and Coco made sure to let them know that she enjoyed their cooking, then without a heads-up, she left the kitchen.

All of them were doing their own thing inside so she was the only one who didn’t have anything to do.

Since she was full, she decided to take a walk.

She opened the door and exited the house, just in time for the garden fairy to come yelling.

"Coco! Wait for meeee!" Lala cried, her high pitched voice causing Coco to pause in the middle of closing the door and peek her head through the gap.

Lala collided on her face, making the two of them let out yelp.

"Ow!" The fairy whined, peeling herself off from Coco and rubbing her face. "I’m sorry! I was focused on the food Heiren gave me before I noticed you were gone!"

Coco looked past Lala to check if anyone followed her and when she saw no one, she grabbed the garden fairy by the back of her dress which made her let out a startled squeal and put her on top of her head.

"I’m going to take a walk." Coco informed Lala and closed the door quietly.

"Oh.. Are you okay?" Lala asked, assuming that Coco was feeling under the weather and immediately felt worried for her friend’s mental health.

"I’m fine." Coco hummed, her feet carrying her across the gravel path before her that leads to the back of the house.

"I just really need some time to think." Coco said, her voice low and quiet, her gaze shifting around to search for anyone that may see her walking around.

However, the walls around the property were so tall that she couldn’t see the neighboring house.

"Are you sure?" The garden fairy’s tone wasn’t prying, but there was a little shake that indicates that she’s more concerned than curious.

"I’m sure.. So just accompany me while I take a look around the house, okay? I haven’t checked everything out since we got here because I was busy so might as well check them out while we’re out here." Coco stated with a smile.

However, as she slowly made her way to the back, thoughts started swarming her mind.
