Chapter 400: Reflection
Chapter 400: Reflection
Coco had been in this world for almost three months now.
In those three months, all she had done was beat monsters, harvest fruits, sell everything, and try to make a living.
She hasn’t made any good progress except for the recent success on the hunter license examination— which she felt somehow guilty about because she didn’t totally participate in every stage.
She was able to skip the first stage thanks to Alithe’s and Sinclair’s connection.
If it weren’t for them, she would probably still be somewhere in the city, looking for the hunter guild and looking for scraps that she could take to make a living.
Honestly, her departure to the city wasn’t planned.
When she first transmigrated into Coco Hughes’ body, she envisioned how her life would play out.
She even started building a house in the mouth.. Which was nearly halfway done due to her inexperience when it comes to building houses.
The closest construction she had ever done was the construction in Minecraft and in every world in that game, she was in creative mode because she has no patience to look for the right blocks.
However, Minecraft is far from reality.
Her reality is much more harsher than she would ever admit, but she managed to make it through.
Not to mention, the past three months with her meeting the husbands on a day to day basis, she ended up knowing them a little more than she would like.
She ended up finding out that Zaque prefers baking the good old normal yet delicious loaf of bread rather than baking any pastries that would require too much effort, but there were days that she would see him linger in the kitchen, reading a book about baking recipes.
On the other hand, she found out that Heiren was the complete opposite of Zaque.
The brown haired mediator loves trying out new recipes and would coop himself inside the kitchen if he had a chance to do so— he would even call for one of them husbands to taste some of his cooking, but most of the time, he would just save them for meals.
Then, she found out that Alhai was surprisingly skilled in juice making.
She wasn’t that interested in whatever Alhai wanted to do around the house because it was obvious that he was still hostile towards her, but lately.. He became kinder.
He doesn’t mock her or glare at her like he used to.
Sure, he would still look at her like she was nothing, but a bother.. However, he would also start doing things that would benefit her.
He started opening doors for her, he started holding out his hands and touching her in appropriate places.. He even started acknowledging her efforts and congratulated her— which was completely surprising!
She couldn’t think much about it before because she was busy with things, but now that she has nothing else to do, everything that happened seems to be flooding back.
Not only Alhai, Quizen had shown some interesting mannerisms for the past few days.
He had become progressively affectionate of her.
It wasn’t that obvious before, but now? She could feel the way he would look at her, like he wanted to say something to her, but he couldn’t.
She could feel the way his touches lingered the most out of all the husbands that had their fair share of touches.
It’s not like she didn’t like their hands on her.. It was more like she was confused as to why she didn’t mind them touching her every now and then.
If she were back on Earth, she would be screaming her head off if a man tried to touch her without her consent, but with them? She didn’t mind— in fact, she felt like she wanted them to do it more often.
Of course, she would never say those words aloud.
Then, the strange man she encountered in the carriage this morning.. What was that man’s problem?
Why was he so mysterious? Why was he so creepy yet so.. Strangely magical? She felt like she was entranced when he called for her, like something was telling her to hear the man out.
Usually, she would ignore strangers on the street, but the man’s call forced her to look.
She knew that she should feel anxious about what the man had said, but she didn’t feel anything at the moment and was more focused on what she needed to do.
Her eyes shifted on the four quest scrolls before her, each scroll having the husbands’ quest exposed for her eyes to read on, but the words seemed jumbled and unreadable, an unsettling feeling gnawing at her heart.
These quests.. She needs to finish them, right?
She slowly came into half, her eyes drifting down from scrolls to the path beneath her feet.
Why does she feel nauseous?
The quest told her that she needed to help them find a new love.. Someone that would be worthy of their love and affection.
Actually.. She doesn’t even know what it feels like to be in love.
She hasn’t had any relationship back on Earth because she was too busy in her life— passing papers, taking quizzes, tests, and passing examinations.
She had no time for relationships, but she always wondered how it feels to be in one.
She has seen her big sister introduce both girl and boy to them, but none of them had lasted long enough to be actually a part of their small family.
Her little sister also had introduced someone to their little family, but that someone also didn’t last long.
Out of the three daughters, she’s the only one who hasn’t experienced how to be in love or to like someone for a good period of time.
So.. Would she be cut out to play cupid?
However, the only response she got from herself was the painful beating of her heart as she stared at the floating scrolls, a sense of dread brushing past her spine.
