New World with Four Husbands

Chapter 390: A surprise

Chapter 390: A surprise

Coco and her husbands followed Sinclair into a venue dripping with luxury.

The air was filled with the hum of soft music, jazz or whatever the name was, Coco doesn’t know, but it was similar to jazz.

The clinking of glasses could be heard as guests mingled and chatted amongst themselves, the interior was elegantly adorned with expensive decorations, making the overall ambiance of the place screams class and royalty.

Coco and the four mediators, feeling slightly out of place yet thrilled for the celebration, made their way further into the building, feeling slightly awe at their extravagant surroundings.

As Sinclair led Coco and her husbands through the venue, Coco found herself unconsciously inching closer to Zaque and Heiren.

Her hand automatically sought out the red haired mediator’s sleeve, gripping it gently as she walked beside him.

Zaque felt the shift in his clothes and looked down, but when he saw the troubled expression on Coco’s face, he decided to just ignore it and let her cling to him.

The lavish surroundings were both impressive and somewhat overwhelming, so she found a small sense of comfort in the familiar presence beside her who didn’t comment on what she just did.

Then, as they walked through the venue, the next room they entered was made more of luxurious decorations, exuding a vibe that screams at her to get out.

Coco’s eyes widened slightly as she took in the sight.

The group continued to follow Sinclair and Coco couldn’t help, but notice how the other guests in the venue reacted to their presence.

Conversations halted momentarily as they passed by and eyes turned in their direction, their gazes lingering on the group— or more specifically, at her.

Now, Coco had grown used to stares because of what happened back in Yogusho Village and when she happened to become a topic back in the guild, but this time, the stares came from nobilities.

Knowing that she was getting stared at by rich individuals made Coco feel a sense of unease at being the center of attention, causing her grip on Zaque’s sleeve subtly tightened as they proceeded toward wherever the hybrids lead them to.

The stares and whispers followed them like a shadow, fueling her self-consciousness and adding another layer of tension to the already growing anxiousness inside her.

Sinclair and Alithe, seemingly unfazed by the attention they were drawing, continued to lead the way confidently.

After a few more moments of making their way through the sea of onlookers, they finally reached a door that seemed to lead farther into the venue.

Without any hesitation, Alithe pushed open the door and glanced back at the group, motioning for them to follow him.

Coco and her husbands exchanged a glance, her grip on Zaque’s sleeve still tight, before they collectively took a deep breath on their own ways and followed the hybrid behind the newly opened door.

Coco, her husbands, and Sinclair stepped inside the room, they were immediately greeted by the sight of a spacious room adorned with another set of luxurious decorations.

However, their attention was quickly drawn to the center of the room, where a large table was laid out with an array of mouth watering dishes— the enticing aromas of the food filled the air.

Somehow, their appetites suddenly heightened as they took in the sight of the array of delectable treats even though they had just eaten when they left the house.

Coco’s eyes widened in awe, her stomach rumbling slightly at the tempting spread before them, her grip on Zaque’s sleeve finally loosening, her hunger momentarily trumping her initial anxiety.

Coco tore her gaze away from the food and glanced around the room, relieved to see that there was no one else there, but she suddenly noticed several familiar faces, and a flicker of recognition lit up her features.

She let out a gasp and her lips involuntarily curved into a smile as she called out, her voice filled with surprise and joy. "Jacques? Renaldo?"

The two figures she had recognized, Jacques and Renaldo, were sitting at a nearby table, engaged in conversation. Upon hearing their names called, they turned and their gazes landed on Coco and the group.

Jacques, upon spotting Coco and the group, immediately stood up from her seat, a warm smile spreading across her face.

"Coco! You’re finally here!" She exclaimed, her voice brimming with excitement and affection.

Jacques wasted no time making her way over to the group, her footsteps light and hurried, closing the distance as quickly as she could, her eyes filled with happiness at the sight of her friend.

"We were beginning to think you weren’t coming!" The pink haired woman giggled and Coco eagerly met Jacques halfway, her smile wide and genuine.

"It’s been too long!" Coco agreed, her voice filled with sincere fondness.

As they stood before each other, joy filled the air, and Coco took in the sight of Jacques, taking in every detail, before curiosity took over, and she asked, "Why are you and Renaldo here?"

She looked past Jacques shoulders to look at Renaldo, her brows furrowed slightly, a hint of surprise evident in her face.

Jacques couldn’t help but let out a lighthearted giggle as she enveloped Coco in an embrace, the excitement and happiness in her demeanor were noticeable.

"To celebrate with you!" She exclaimed, her voice bubbling with enthusiasm, like it was the most common thing in the world. "We wouldn’t miss this special occasion for the world, Coco."

With her arms wrapped tightly around her friend, Jacques held on tightly, as if afraid she would let go and fade away. "You really did good. I’m so proud of you."

Coco allowed herself to lean into Jacques’ arms, her body relaxing as a wave of overwhelming affection washed over her, her heart fluttering in her chest, a mix of joy and gratitude for her friend’s presence.

Closing her eyes for a moment, Coco savored the warmth and comfort of the familiar embrace.

"I’ve missed you." She murmured.
