Chapter 391: A surprise [2]

Chapter 391: A surprise [2]

"Don’t be so dramatic." Renaldo stated, shaking his head. "We haven’t seen each other in just two weeks—"

"Three weeks!" Jacques interjected, correcting him.

"We haven’t seen each other in just three weeks, okay? There’s no need to be this tearful." The butcher said, correcting himself to assure Jacques that he was listening, and glanced at Coco.

"Don’t listen to him, Coco." Jacques pushed her husband aside and tightened her arms around Coco even more. "Out of the two of us, he was the one who missed you the mo—"

"Oh, hello there, Joachim!" Renaldo said, cutting his wife off and laughing obnoxiously loud.

Coco pulled away from Jacques embrace and looked at the direction Renaldo was waving at, her eyes landing on the running mediator with a bright and cheerful smile on his face.

"Coco!" Joachim called, his legs pumping faster and propelling him closer to the black haired woman.

Coco opened her arms and moved away from the four mediators, who looked quite upset to see the other mediator, before Joachim crashed onto her body, his arms wrapping around her neck.

"I missed you! I missed you so much!" The pink haired mediator cried, his arms tightening around her neck.

Joachim sniffled, rubbing his cheek on Coco’s cheeks and continued speaking. "Congratulations on passing the license examination! I just know that you would pass and would be at least in the top ten among the passers! Who knew you would place on top one?"

As Joachim cried, Jacques couldn’t help herself from wrapping her arms around the two, pressing her cheek on Coco’s head and hugging them both tightly.

Coco felt loved by the embrace of the siblings so she didn’t comment nor tried to push them off, she just let them cry onto her and say incoherent words under their breaths due to them crying.

However, she was still confused as to how Jacques and others made it in time and how long they had been staying in the city?

"I sent them a message the other night." Alithe spoke up, answering Coco’s question and catching her attention. "We visited the guild to see if you came back with others, but the guild master told us that your team stayed for the night in the forest."

"Does this mean that they’ve been here since yesterday?" Coco asked, her voice muffled because of Joachim holding her tightly against him.

"Yes, but we made sure to give them the best room in the hotel— which I hope was good enough for Mrs. Wallen?" Sinclair said, his eyes shifting away from Coco to Jacques’ instead.

Jacques froze in the middle of burying her face on Coco’s hair and nodded her head. "It was more than enough. Thank you."

Sinclair merely smiled. "You’re welcome."

Then, Alithe suddenly clapped his hands and demanded attention from the people around him. "Alright, everyone! We’re not here for some tearful reunion! We’re here to celebrate Coco’s success!"

Joachim promptly pulled away from Coco and a look of realization settled on his face. "Koa is still out and buying gifts for you!"

"The merchant came with you?" Coco raised an eyebrow, letting Joachim pull away from her.

"Of course! My wife is your friend, too! Why won’t she be here?" The pink haired mediator inquired, his eyebrows furrowing in confusion.

"Because we didn’t discuss what our relationship is, my love." A familiar voice spoke up from behind Zaque, making him freeze in his spot and his heart drop to his stomach from surprise. "I’m sure Coco sees me as a business partner more than anything."

"You’re back, Koa!" Joachim brightened up and ran towards his wife.

"Hello." She hummed and leaned down, pressing her lips on Joachim’s cheek with her hand settling on his waist. "I got something for you, but don’t worry. I still got a gift for our dearest Coco."

"Okay!" Once again, Alithe clapped his hands. "Since we’re complete— wait, no. Where’s the other mediator?"

He stopped himself in the middle of sentence and looked around, his eyes searching for a certain scarred faced mediator around the room.

"He went out to buy something for Coco." Renaldo answered the hybrid’s question and let out a sigh. "Said that he would be ashamed if he didn’t get her something as a gift on a joyful occasion such as this one."

"He didn’t have to." Coco said, frowning. "Well, we’re not starting until he gets here—"

Creaaaaaak.

"Why are there so many people standing by the door?" A familiar deep voice spoke up and cut Coco off, followed by the sound of the door shutting.

"Oh, it’s Coco’s husbands— hello, Coco." Jonathan rounded the four mediators and smiled at her, a pleased expression on his face. "You look incredibly well. I take it that you were well taken care of?"

"Jonathan!" Coco called the mediator, a relieved and happy smile emerging in her face.

"Now that everyone is finally here." Alithe spoke up for the nth time and clapped his hands. "How about we get this celebration started?"

"Yes, please!" Coco exclaimed, her smile getting bigger and brighter.

She wasn’t expecting her friends to be there when she first left the house with the husbands! Who knew that she would get a surprise like this one?

She doesn’t like relying on other people and that goes with Sinclair as well, but the hybrids kept insisting that everything would be alright— that she should let him help her with anything she needed help with.

Her stubbornness was on the line because she hates letting other people handle her business, but if it’s something like this?

"Thank you so much, Sinclair.. Alithe." Coco expressed her gratitude, her smile softening. "I don’t know how I could ever repay you.. And I don’t know what I would do without you now."

Alithe rolled his eyes and Sinclair only laughed.

However, deep down, they both knew that Coco’s influence may have been unexpected, but it was never unwelcomed.

Besides, who wouldn’t someone like Coco to be their friend?
