Chapter 376: A way out of confrontation
Chapter 376: A way out of confrontation
"What happened here?" The guild master asked Coco the moment she got closer to him and Greinzer.
The woman in question stopped in her tracks and blinked, her eyes shifting between the spawn stones, to the guild master, and to the red eyed hunter.
Then, she made the boldest statement of all time.
"I think our instructor can explain it instead—" Coco started, not wanting to get into details of what happened a few moments prior and tried to get out of the trouble, but she was cut off by the person she tried to use as a scapegoat.
"No, I believe that it would be better if you explained what happened here instead." Greinzer refused Coco’s suggestion, crossing his arms.
"Oh.." Coco blinked before letting out an awkward laugh. "Can.. Can I put this woman inside the carriage first?"
Mr. Covez and Greinzer looked down, their faces morphing into a serious expression into shock, making it obvious that they didn’t see the unconscious woman in her arms.
"We have a victim?" The guild master sputtered out, turning to Greinzer. "Why didn’t I hear of this?!"
"I was also unaware of her." Greinzer retorted back, eyes wide in surprise and disbelief as he stared at the woman in Coco’s arms. "We didn’t notice anyone in the area when we got here."
"You should have been more diligent then!" Mr. Covez hissed, his eyes squinting into a glare.
The guild master faced Coco, a panic stricken expression settling on his face as he pointed towards the carriage. "Go tell the coachman to bring her to the city gates immediately!"
Coco held herself back from letting out a cheery laugh and kept her face passive as she nodded her head, relieved to know that she had a chance to get away from the man’s confrontation.
"On it, sir!" She said, walking past him at a brisk pace and slowly jogged her way towards the carriage.
As she approached the wooden vehicle, Lukas and Yura turned to look at her, only for their faces to morph into confusion and surprise at the sight of an unconscious woman in her arms.
"Where did you see her?" Yura questioned, her voice hitting a slightly high pitch in worry.
Julian and Myra looked away from where they were looking at inside the wagon, where some of the licensed hunters put the monsters they killed, and turned to Yura who caught their attention.
"What’s wrong?" Myra asked, eyebrows pinching together in confusion. "Did something happen to you, Coco?"
Myra’s eyes shifted downwards, her eyes now fully taking in the sight of the unconscious woman in Coco’s arms, making her eyebrows shoot up to her hairline.
"Nothing happened to me, but the guild master asked me to bring this woman to the city gates." Coco said, walking past her team members and Myra’s team. "I’ll meet all of you by the guild, yeah?"
"Okay." Yura agreed, nodding her head absentmindedly. "Just make sure she gets the help she needs."
"Don’t worry, I will." Coco assured, smiling.
"Can I come with you?" Lukas asked, tilting his head as he threw a dead flying pig over to the wagon. "We’re almost done cleaning these up anyway."
Coco blinked and looked at the mess they created a moment ago, her eyes scanning the area to see if what the so-called sacred beast said were true— to her surprise, it was true, with just a couple of poison tigers and flying pigs laying around.
"If they don’t mind." Coco answered, nudging her head towards Myra and others. "They probably still need a hand."
Coco turned in her heels without waiting for an answer and hogged her way towards the carriage a few feet away from the group, the sound of her boots thumping softly against the ground catching the coachman’s attention.
"Hello! The guild master told me to bring this woman to the city gates!" Coco informed the man, making his eyes go wide and sit up straight in his spot.
"Right away, miss hunter!" He tipped his hat and waited for Coco to get inside the carriage.
Coco had a slight difficulty on opening the door because the handle was a little higher than her hand could reach, but she managed to open the door once she hoisted the unconscious woman higher in her arms.
"Up you go, girl." Coco said, motioning for Konoha to get inside the carriage first.
The feline didn’t hesitate to jump inside with the garden fairy hot in her trails, then soon, Coco climbed the carriage and settled herself in the seat of the wooden vehicle.
However, before she could close the door, a hand reached out and grabbed the door frame, making Coco freeze.
"Geez! I told you I wanted to come with you!" Lukas complained, ducking his head as he went inside the carriage and took a seat in front of Coco. "You’re so lucky that I’m quick on my feet."
With Coco, Lukas, and Konoha getting inside the carriage, the coachman took this as a sign to go forward.
The carriage rocked slightly, the horses letting out whines as they pulled the carriage before they started strutting their way towards the path to the city gates.
Coco stared at Lukas, her eyes skimming through his features and looking out for signs that screams that he is a legendary being— a sacred beast that fell asleep for a long time.
She was staring so hard that the dense and slow Lukas caught on, making him turn to her and shoot her a cocky grin.
"What? You fell in love with me or something?" The blonde haired man joked, a teasing glint in his eyes.
Coco rolled her eyes, but after, she squinted her gaze at him, which made the man before her flinch from the sudden change in expression.
"I was just joking!" Lukas defended himself, raising both of his hands in the air.
"Answer me honestly, Lukas." Coco stated, not beating around the bush. "You’re a sacred beast, aren’t you?"
