Chapter 374: Battle [2]
Chapter 374: Battle [2]
Time seemed to blur together as the group fought tirelessly, each new battle more grueling than the last.
Just when they managed to defeat one monster, another would materialize, its form taking shape in front of them, prolonging their fight.
The cycle of battling seemed endless, their progress stalled by the relentless spawns of monsters.
Minutes blurred together, the group’s exhaustion mounting with each passing moment, their energy gradually fading as the spawn stones continued to churn out more monsters.
However, as the group continued their fight against the seemingly endless stream of monsters, the spawn stones that continued to spawn new threats started to display signs of diminished power.
The stones’ glow, once dazzling and blinding, was now dim and dwindling, each spawn manifesting in a slightly more faded form than the last.
The once fierce and formidable monsters were still a threat, but Coco noticed that the more recent spawns lacked the same power and intensity as the first ones they had faced.
The group’s battle raged on, the spawn stones’ dimming became more noticeable, their glow gradually diminishing.
"Just hold on a bit more! The stones are turning grey!" Coco yelled, her words carried a sense of both urgency and encouragement, urging the group to hold out against the monsters until the stones were completely drained.
The group, already fatigued and battered, clenched their teeth, but determination etched on their faces as they braced themselves for more fight.
They were visibly weary, their breaths labored and their limbs heavy with exhaustion.
In contrast to their tired forms, Lukas and Coco stood out, their energy not yet diminished despite the grueling battle— with Coco clutching her unbreakable hoe tightly and Lukas relying on his fists, his blows still packing a powerful punch despite his growing fatigue.
Both Lukas and Coco remained standing and attacking, their energy seemingly recharging while fighting.
So even the others were tired and winded.. They couldn’t help, but be impressed by the duo’s display of endurance, their own energy levels slowly waning, yet determined.
BAM!
A resounding noise echoed in the area as Coco slammed a tough crocodile against a goleter, a small stone golem with red eyes.
The force of the impact shattered the goleter into rubble, its form disintegrating into dust.
Fortunately, the battle seemed like it was finally reaching its end, the last remaining monster vanquished by Coco’s powerful strike.
The silence that followed was a moment of peace, the group’s exhaustion now replaced by a sense of triumph and relief— they had successfully endured the relentless spawns of monsters.
"Is it over?" Myra asked, panting in exhaustion, her eyes shifting to the spawn stones that began to react strangely, their once bright surfaces now completely grey.
As if to answer her question, the stones spawned grey versions of the previous monsters— flying pigs, tough crocodiles, and poison tigers, but tese new monsters appeared passive, their movements sluggish and lacking the same intensity as before.
It was as if the spawn stones had been drained of their power, only capable of creating these lifeless, grey imitations.
Coco, standing in front of the exhausted group, took a step back in surprise.
She, like the rest of the group, was taken aback by the sight of the grey monsters appearing from the spawn stones, but as she watched intently, a glimmer of hope flickered in her eyes.
The spawn stones flickered and finally turned black, indicating that they had expended their final energy and could no longer spawn new monsters.
"It’s over." Coco said, eyes widening as this realization brought a renewed sense of relief and exhaustion over her, causing the group to now be able to catch their breath and take a much-needed rest.
Coco locked on the grey monsters and stepped forward, cracked her neck and fingers with confidence.
"I’ll handle these." She declared, her words filled with assurance. "You guys can take a break now, okay? Don’t worry now."
Lukas scoffed playfully and joined Coco, cracking his fingers as well, a hint of cockiness in his voice. "Ah, come on. I can’t just let my leader handle these on her own, right? Might as well help you take these down!"
Coco’s gaze was fixed on the monsters, but she rolled her eyes in frustration, but a small smile tugged at the corner of her lips.
"Whatever." She said, her voice dripping with feigned indifference.
Though she would never admit it, she secretly appreciated Lukas’s willingness to join the fight.
"I can handle these just fine." She affirmed, but she didn’t object to Lukas’s insistence on helping, her expression passive, hiding her subtle gratitude for the extra assistance.
Without a heads-up, Coco sprinted towards the grey monsters, her movements quick and light.
Compared to the previous batch of enemies, these creatures were noticeably different— slower, weaker, and lacked the same quick reflexes as before.
The grey monsters, despite their diminished abilities, still posed a threat though, but Coco quickly realized that their sluggish reactions and weakened attacks made them significantly easier to handle than the earlier batches of monsters.
Her confidence grew as she effortlessly dodged and evaded their clumsy attacks.
The battle against the grey monsters proved to be a swift one, the weakened creatures were taken down in just a matter of minutes.
Coco’s quick reflexes and precise hits made light work of the sluggish grey monsters, their attacks easily dodged and countered so when the last of the grey monsters fell, the area grew silent.
The tension and exhaustion of the previous battle was replaced by a sense of relief and satisfaction.
Lukas dropped the poison tiger he was strangling beside Coco as she crouched down, her breathing slightly labored from moving too much.
"Finally." She breathed out, her voice filled with exhaustion and relief.
The adrenaline coursing through her veins began to subside, leaving behind a weary yet satisfying feeling— leaving her heaving through the aftermath.
Though the battle was over, its effects lingered in her tired muscles and quickened heart rate.
