Never Just Friends

The New Enemy

The New Enemy

Mark had always operated from the shadows, a silent partner in Ciara’s games. Hanna had never fully grasped the extent of his influence until now. With Ciara’s downfall, Mark seemed to have seized the reins of the chaos, and his methods were far more sinister than anything Hanna had anticipated.

As Hanna sat across from Elordi, the weight of the situation pressed heavily on her. The way he spoke about Mark, with that cold, calculating tone, made her stomach churn.

“He’s smarter than Ciara,” Elordi said, his eyes darkening as he leaned forward. “And more dangerous.”

Hanna’s mind raced, but one question stood out from all the others, refusing to leave her thoughts. “Why is he doing this?”

Elordi’s gaze sharpened, and he looked away for a moment, as if gathering his thoughts. “Because he blames you for taking her down. He’s furious that you exposed Ciara, and now he’s out for revenge. Mark’s never liked being outshined, and the fact that you’ve not only toppled Ciara but have taken the lead—he won’t tolerate that.”

Hanna’s heart pounded in her chest. She had been so focused on Ciara that she hadn’t considered the ripple effects of her actions. Exposing Ciara had cost her allies, but Mark was no ordinary threat. He had never been caught in the spotlight before, and now that he was, he was using all his resources to dismantle everything she had built.

“And what does he want from me?” Hanna asked, her voice trembling with the weight of the uncertainty she now faced.

Elordi looked at her, his expression unreadable. “To break you. He’s going to hit you where it hurts the most—your friends, your reputation, your future. He’s playing a much longer game than Ciara ever did.”

Hanna felt a lump form in her throat. Mark wasn’t just targeting her, he was going to use everyone she cared about as pawns. The stakes had just been raised, and the fight wasn’t just about exposing the truth anymore—it was about survival.

“I can’t do this alone,” Hanna whispered, more to herself than to Elordi. She had fought against Ciara’s lies, but Mark’s manipulation was on a whole new level. Every move she made felt like a step deeper into a web of deceit she wasn’t sure she could escape.

Elordi’s voice broke through her thoughts. “You won’t be alone. But you’ll need to trust me more than ever. This isn’t going to be easy, and you’ll have to be prepared to do things you might not be comfortable with.”

The weight of his words hung in the air between them. Hanna’s mind raced. Could she trust Elordi? Could she go to the extremes he was suggesting to protect herself and everyone she loved? She didn’t know what the right path was anymore, but she did know one thing—she wasn’t going to let Mark take everything from her.

“I’ll do whatever it takes,” Hanna said, her voice steady now, the resolve hardening in her chest. “But we need to act quickly. I won’t let him tear everything apart.”

Elordi nodded, a rare seriousness in his eyes. “Good. We’ll hit him first. Take control of the narrative before he has a chance to twist it. But it’s going to get ugly.”

Hanna didn’t flinch. The world she had once known was crumbling around her, and the only way to fight back was to embrace the darkness that had already started to take root.

The war with Ciara had been brutal, but this—this was something else entirely. And as Hanna looked at Elordi, she realized that in order to defeat Mark, she might have to become someone she wasn’t sure she could recognize anymore.

But she was done being a victim. No one was going to take her down—not without a fight.
