Never Just Friends

A Dangerous Offer

A Dangerous Offer

The next morning, Hanna was still reeling from the events of the past few days, trying to hold onto a shred of normalcy. She walked to her car, distracted by the weight of it all. As she approached the parking lot, she saw Elordi leaning against his car, arms crossed and his usual smirk replaced by something more serious. His posture was tense, and his expression unreadable.

“We need to talk,” Elordi said, his voice low, enough to send a chill down Hanna’s spine. His usual cocky demeanor was nowhere to be found.

Hanna stopped in her tracks, her heart racing with a mix of anticipation and unease. “What now?” she asked, crossing her arms defensively. She didn’t want to deal with more secrets, not after everything that had already come to light.

Elordi pushed himself off the car, taking a step toward her, his eyes flickering with something darker than usual. “I found out who sent the messages,” he said, his tone gravely serious.

Hanna’s heart skipped a beat, her breath catching in her chest. “Who?” she asked, desperate for an answer but afraid of what it might be.

Elordi leaned in closer, his voice dropping even lower as if he didn’t want anyone else to hear. “It’s someone close to Ciara. Someone who wants revenge for what we did to her.”

Hanna’s stomach twisted as dread pooled in the pit of her stomach. “Who?” she repeated, her voice trembling as the possibility of what he was about to say weighed heavily on her.

Elordi hesitated for a moment, as if considering whether he should drop the bombshell. When he finally spoke, the name came out in a whisper, but it hit her like a punch to the gut.

“Mark.”

Hanna’s breath caught, and her mind raced. Mark. Of course, it was him. He’d been one of Ciara’s closest allies, and after everything that had happened, she shouldn’t have been surprised. But hearing it out loud was a different story.

“I should’ve known,” Hanna muttered, shaking her head in disbelief. “But why? What’s he trying to do?”

Elordi’s eyes were cold, his jaw tight with frustration. “Mark’s always been a loose cannon. He doesn’t care about the consequences as long as he gets what he wants. And now he’s targeting you because you’re the one who exposed Ciara. He’s trying to finish what she started.”

Hanna’s mind whirled. She had already known that Ciara wouldn’t go down quietly, but Mark? She hadn’t considered him as a player in this game. He was ruthless, manipulative, and his loyalty to Ciara had always been a dangerous weapon.

“So what do we do now?” Hanna asked, her voice quiet but determined. She wasn’t about to let Mark get the upper hand.

Elordi looked at her, his expression unreadable. “We take him down before he takes you down. But it’s not going to be easy. Mark’s always been a step ahead. He knows how to hide in the shadows.”

Hanna’s pulse quickened, but her resolve only hardened. “I’m not running from this. Not anymore. We expose him.”

Elordi smirked, but it was colder, more calculated than before. “You’ve got guts, I’ll give you that. But it’s going to take more than guts to take down someone like Mark.”

“I’m ready,” Hanna said, her voice unwavering. “We’ve come this far. We’re not backing down now.”

Elordi studied her for a moment before nodding, a flicker of something like approval in his eyes. “Fine. But remember this: Once you go after him, there’s no turning back.”

Hanna swallowed hard, the weight of his words sinking in. She didn’t know if she was ready for the war that was coming, but she knew she couldn’t stop now. Mark had already made it clear that he wouldn’t stop until he destroyed everything. If it meant going further into the darkness to protect what she cared about, then so be it.

As they stood there in the parking lot, Hanna felt the weight of the choices ahead of her. The lines between right and wrong were becoming blurred, and she didn’t know if she would ever be able to see clearly again. But one thing was certain—she wasn’t going down without a fight.
