My Mother is the Villain

Chapter 8: Sect Master

Chapter 8: Sect Master

Heavenly Lightning Sect.

Its location lay at the edge of a storm-filled sea.

Lightning constantly descended from the sky, striking the small islands below, which were connected by numerous wooden bridges.

Strangely, those islands seemed to possess a special power. The lightning that fell upon them was absorbed and simply vanished.

From above, Victor could faintly see a massive continent across the sea—the Ancient Human Continent.

It lay close to the Ancient Blood Continent, the two great continents that served as humanity’s main strongholds in this world.

Overall, the Ancient Human Continent was about twice the size of the Ancient Blood Continent.

Many World Monarchs originated from there. The most recent one had also come from that continent—only succeeding because Margaret had stopped advancing.

"Emma, Young Master Victor, those islands are our sect," Liam explained. "But there’s no need to worry—the lightning you see doesn’t truly reach them."

He only addressed Emma and Victor, as if Alisa didn’t exist, causing her to frown slightly.

They descended onto a beach where a long bridge connected to the islands.

"Let’s go!" Liam led the way.

He clearly held a respected status—other members saluted him whenever they saw him.

Curious gazes were directed at Victor, Emma, and Alisa.

They hadn’t expected Liam to return with three people.

Despite the endless storm overhead, once they arrived on the island, Victor found it incredibly calm.

The trees didn’t sway at all, and many people could be seen meditating peacefully.

Victor and the others were brought to an ancient house standing atop a small hill.

The house was surrounded by a pool filled with lightning, and they had to cross another bridge to reach it.

"Inform the Sect Master that I’ve returned," Liam told the gatekeeper, who quickly went inside and came back shortly after.

"Senior Liam, the Sect Master invites you and your guests to enter," the guard said.

They stepped inside.

Victor saw several servants busy arranging food and snacks on a guest table.

A middle-aged man stood there, with blue hair and a face covered in scars.

Wearing a loose red robe that left part of his chest exposed, he gave off an overwhelmingly domineering presence.

"Young Master Victor, I truly didn’t expect you to come. Had I known, I would have prepared a proper meal for you. My apologies for only having snacks and drinks ready..." The man approached Victor with a bright smile—one that didn’t quite match his appearance.

Even though Emma had told him that the Sect Master of the Heavenly Lightning Sect was merely his mother’s subordinate, just like Master Stone, Victor hadn’t expected his hospitality to reach this level.

He was even addressed as Young Master.

Victor wondered whether the man was that loyal to his mother—or simply that afraid.

"Sect Master, you’re too polite. I don’t need snacks or drinks... I came for power," Victor replied.

His tone was respectful—but direct.

Both the Sect Master and Liam were slightly surprised, realizing how ambitious this boy was.

"Hahaha..." The Sect Master laughed.

"Of course, of course... You will be given the best. To be honest, this sect owes your mother a great deal."

"But let us sit first so we can speak properly," he added.

Victor sat on a chair directly across from the Sect Master, while Alisa was left sitting in a corner.

Though displeased, she could only remain silent.

Her father had warned her—this sect was powerful, filled with hidden experts. It wasn’t a place where she could act arrogantly.

"Young Master Victor, we have always treated guests from the Russell Clan with the utmost care. Members of your clan generally lack Lightning Power Affinity, so the first step is to help them obtain it. However, the result is usually only Sky Class. Only luck allows one to reach Saint Class," the Sect Master said, lowering his voice slightly at the end.

"Usually, members of the Russell Clan don’t mind. They already possess their own strengths. Heavenly Lightning, to them, is merely a supplement to broaden their understanding."

"Sect Master, I don’t need supplementary power. I want power that will truly make me stronger," Victor said.

"Victor, we are only guests here. Restrain your desires," Alisa couldn’t help but interject, criticizing him for being too greedy.

She hadn’t expected this boy to be so ambitious despite just beginning his cultivation.

The last time she saw him, he was still an innocent child who knew nothing of the world.

Alisa believed it must be because of the stolen Diamond Skeleton in his body.

Something that began in wrongdoing would surely lead to something bad.

"Ahem..." The Sect Master cleared his throat, while Victor merely glanced at Alisa, ignoring her remark.

"Sect Master, considering my Young Master’s status, it would be inappropriate to offer him something ordinary. I’ve heard your sect is capable of granting Heaven-Class Lightning Power Affinity," Emma said, stepping in to support Victor.

"Yes, yes, of course..." The Sect Master nodded—surprising both Alisa and Liam.

"Is there a difficulty, Sect Master?" Emma asked.

"In one era, we can only produce one such resource," the Sect Master replied.

"Then... has it already been used?"

"It is usually given to the young disciple with the greatest contributions. Someone has already earned enough merit—it essentially belongs to him. However, he is currently injured and hasn’t been able to use it yet."

"Oh? Are you referring to Lukas Hernandez, your top young disciple?" Emma guessed.

Victor felt like he had heard that name before.

If he remembered correctly, that man had defeated Ryan a year ago.
