My Mother is the Villain

Chapter 7: Heavenly Lighting Sect

Chapter 7: Heavenly Lighting Sect

Victor didn’t know how to react upon hearing that.

To think she would ask something like that when he was only thirteen.

Of course, he was normal. Especially since he wasn’t even the original Victor—he even found himself captivated by the cold woman asking the question.

But in his memories, the original Victor had normal desires as well.

Being asked directly, Victor could only nod.

He didn’t want to be seen as abnormal, and that woman might do anything to "fix" him if she thought otherwise.

"Good. Keep this!" the woman said, tossing the mirror to him along with a Storage Ring.

Since gaining spiritual energy, Victor was now able to have his own storage ring.

"Don’t let anyone else know about that mirror, or you’ll be robbed while I’m away," Margaret added.

"Yes!" Victor nodded again.

Margaret waved her hand, signaling him to return to his room.

Victor went inside, sat on his bed, and began meditating—trying to deepen his understanding of the Tyrannical War Body Merit Law while absorbing Spiritual Energy.

If there was nothing else to do, there was no harm in cultivating on his own rather than wasting time.

He continued for more than five hours, stopping only when he fell asleep—though he still achieved decent results.

The next morning, Victor woke up feeling refreshed. His first thought was already about who he would oppress today to earn rewards from the System.

Rumble!

A thunderous roar suddenly echoed from outside.

It was louder than any thunder he had ever heard.

Even the air itself seemed to tremble, making his heart pound.

He rushed to the window—only to see the arrival of a gigantic eagle, its wings spanning as wide as a football field.

Lightning wrapped around its body in a terrifying display.

Its eyes radiated killing intent, and its claws looked capable of tearing through any kind of steel.

Despite its ferocity, Victor noticed a man standing atop the eagle—around thirty years old, neatly dressed, with slightly wavy black hair.

The man descended with a smile, approaching the elders led by Paul, including Warren.

Victor left his room and saw Emma also peeking through the living room window.

"Emma, who is that man?" Victor asked.

"Young Master, he is from the Heavenly Lightning Sect—a faction of cultivators who wield Heavenly Lightning," Emma explained.

"Oh? Why is he here?"

Victor had vague memories of this sect.

They were powerful—having produced three World Monarchs, one of the dominant forces on the Ancient Blood Continent.

The Russell Clan had once been far inferior to them before Margaret’s rise.

It was said that the sect studied a Merit Law that allowed them to merge with different forms of Heavenly Lightning.

"The Russell Clan has long maintained ties with the Heavenly Lightning Sect," Emma replied. "Every era, one of our members joins them as a symbol of friendship. Not as an official disciple, but an unofficial one granted the same opportunities. Young Master, you might want to try it. Gathering Heavenly Lightning will make you extremely powerful. Even if you don’t currently have lightning affinity, they can help you acquire it. If you volunteer, no one else can take your place. The sect will accept you without any test. Their current Sect Master is merely one of your mother’s subordinates."

"Is that really alright?" Victor asked.

"Yes. Your mother told me last night that you could go there to gain experience. Even if you don’t choose this sect, she will likely send you somewhere else anyway."

"Will you come with me if I go there?"

"Of course... My duty is gradually shifting from serving my lady to serving you," Emma replied with a smile.

"Alright..."

Victor was indeed interested in exploring.

The Russell Clan had grown rather boring to him.

They stepped out of the castle.

At that moment, the man from the Heavenly Lightning Sect had begun testing the younger generation by sending lightning into their bodies.

Some were blasted away, coughing blood, while others endured it.

Age didn’t matter—anyone young was tested, including Ryan Russell, who also seemed eager to obtain Heavenly Lightning power.

In truth, almost no one in the Russell Clan had lightning affinity. Because of that, the test relied on how compatible their talents were with lightning.

"Ahem..." Emma cleared her throat, drawing everyone’s attention.

The man from the Heavenly Lightning Sect, Liam Lighting, turned toward them. He looked slightly surprised upon seeing Emma, as if he recognized her.

Then his gaze shifted to Victor, and his eyes lit up.

Coming out of the largest castle alongside Emma, Victor’s identity was easy to guess.

Paul also looked at his grandson, curious about his presence.

"Liam, my Young Master wishes to join your sect. What do you think?" Emma said.

From her tone, it was clear she knew him.

"Are you serious, Emma?" Liam asked.

"Of course," she nodded.

Seeing Liam show clear interest in directly selecting Victor, the young members of the clan instantly frowned.

"Mr. Lighting, you won’t just abandon us after testing us, right?" one of them asked—a seventeen-year-old girl.

She was beautiful, with long, slightly wavy red hair, though her expression carried a fiery temper.

Alisa Russell.

By generation, she could be considered Victor’s aunt—though not by blood. She was his mother’s cousin.

"Miss Alisa, there’s no need to worry. We will still choose among you," Liam replied calmly. "However, our Sect Master has instructed that if Lady Margaret’s son wishes to join, he will be accepted specially. In other words, we will take two members this era."

"Two members..." The clan members were shocked.

They hadn’t expected such a decision because of Victor.

After all, this meant allocating more resources to outsiders.

Their jealousy toward Victor grew—but Victor acted as if he didn’t notice.

"Emma, wait on my eagle," Liam said.

"Of course!" Emma pulled Victor along and brought him onto the eagle.

Liam resumed testing the younger generation.

In the end, it wasn’t Ryan—despite being the clan’s top genius—but Alisa who was chosen.

No wonder she had spoken up earlier—she clearly had something to back it up.

She joined Liam atop the eagle, flying up on her own due to her cultivation.

"Master Russell, farewell!" Liam saluted Paul before commanding the eagle to take off.

Alisa clearly didn’t like Victor. She immediately kept her distance from him.

On the eagle, a protective force shielded everyone.

Even as it flew at incredible speed, no wind could be felt.

"Emma, it seems you’ve grown far stronger than me. You’re truly fortunate to have become Lady Margaret’s personal maid..." Liam said, unable to hide his envy.

Emma looked rather proud at the praise.

"My talent has always been better than yours. What, you still haven’t broken through to the Great Sovereign Realm?" she replied. "You know, I’m already close to the Paragon Realm. This year, I’ll definitely advance. I already have five Will Power."

"Five?" Liam was stunned. He himself only had two.

Ten was the limit of Will Power—only three people in history had ever reached it, one of them being Margaret.

Even having nine was considered miraculous.

Most geniuses qualified to become World Monarchs only possessed six or seven.

So having five was already extraordinary.

"Doesn’t that mean you can already defeat Paragons who only have two or three Will Power?" Liam asked.

"They’re not even worth mentioning," Emma replied.
