My Aloof Husband Can't Stop His Devoted Affection

Chapter 216 - 215: Long time no see

Chapter 216 - 215: Long time no see

In the late October night, a breeze full of chill swept through, and a silver-white crescent moon hung high against the teal curtain, surrounded by a few scattered stars.Around ten o’clock, the two drove to the ’Xinghai Bar’. Cen Jin originally intended to get out of the car and directly find Lu Shishu, but was held back by Jiang Baizhou: "Wait for me here first, I’ll go park the car, two minutes. It’s too chaotic inside, I wouldn’t feel assured with you going in alone."

Cen Jin hesitantly nodded in agreement, opened the car door, and stood at the entrance of the bar, waiting for Jiang Baizhou who had gone to park the car.

In less than two minutes, Jiang Baizhou quickly returned, took her somewhat chilly small hand, squinted his eyes, reflexively glanced at her, but said nothing, only tightened his grip on her hand a bit more, and pulled her into the bar.

As they stepped inside, the multicolored lights flickered in her eyes, and the rhythmic music combined with a strong, pungent perfume smell assaulted her senses. What appeared before her was a group of young, hot guys and girls dancing in the pit, a scene that made Cen Jin frown in distaste, her small face crumpling up as well.

She never liked such noisy places and seldom visited them. Yet this bar marked her fourth visit, she had been here three times previously with Lu Shishu and Yu Feici, albeit she was dragged here against her will to accompany them. She couldn’t drink, so her role was relegated to nibbling on snacks and sipping on drinks.

The owner of this bar was a business friend of Lu Shishu who ran it as a side hustle. Therefore, Lu Shishu could be considered a regular at this bar, and the bartenders and waiters all knew her.

Her spot was easy to locate; apart from the VIP room she would go to when they came together, whenever she came alone, she would always choose to sit at the bar. Thus, Cen Jin made her way through the dance floor and immediately spotted Lu Shishu leaned over the bar, quickly breaking free from Jiang Baizhou’s hand and sprinting over.

"Shishu, Shishu, how are you?" Cen Jin ran to her side, gently shaking her arm, looking at her drunken face with closed eyes, seemingly very uncomfortable.

But Lu Shishu did not respond to her words, still leaning over with her eyes closed. Cen Jin sighed worriedly, looking at the three bottles on the bar and several small empty glasses, her delicate eyebrows knitting together.

Just then, the bartender, who had been busy, came over and nodded to her in greeting, "Miss Nie, you’re here."

This bartender was practically Lu Shishu’s designated bartender, and he knew Cen Jin. Cen Jin greeted him with a smile and glanced at Lu Shishu, "How much did she drink?"

"A bottle of Martell, a bottle of whiskey, a bottle of Grant’s, three glasses of Bulleit, two glasses of brandy, and three glasses of Old Parr." The bartender looked at the bottles and glasses on the table, introducing them one by one, "These drinks all have pretty high alcohol content. For those last few glasses, I purposely mixed them for Miss Lu to lower the alcohol level."

"When did she come?"

"Around seven-thirty, I believe. Shouldn’t be much earlier." The bartender gave it some thought and confidently replied.

"So long..." Cen Jin murmured softly, looking at Lu Shishu’s current state, she wanted to ask what happened, fearing she wouldn’t get an answer.

"About seven or eight minutes ago, a man called Miss Lu’s phone, there was no name saved. By then, Miss Lu was already in this state and couldn’t answer the call. I took the liberty of picking up and informed the guy that Miss Lu was here drinking. The man seemed very anxious and after asking for the address, hung up. I assume he will come to find Miss Lu." As Cen Jin was about to ask Jiang Baizhou to help carry Lu Shishu out, the bartender spoke again.

"A man?" Cen Jin widened her eyes in surprise, instinctively turning to look at Jiang Baizhou.

Receiving Cen Jin’s inquiring gaze, Jiang Baizhou also seemed to realize something, his brow furrowed, and his thin lips pressed into a straight line.

Seeing Jiang Baizhou’s expression, Cen Jin also knew what he was thinking, turned and leaned closer to whisper, "You thought of that person too?"

"Yeah." Jiang Baizhou responded lightly, paused for a moment, then added, "You know better than I do what kind of person Lu Shishu is. Besides him, no one else in seven years seems able to affect her emotions like this."

Cen Jin’s face fell, she nodded, "Yes, but... that seems unlikely, doesn’t it? After so many years, he’s never appeared, like he’s vanished into thin air. I think Shishu must be upset over something else! Let’s not wait for that person, take Shishu back first! I’ll ask her tomorrow when she’s sober."

"Alright."

Cen Jin turned back to help Lu Shishu up from the bar stool. Jiang Baizhou, worried she might not hold on, offered a hand for support, just holding Lu Shishu’s arm, helping Cen Jin with some strength, ensuring she wouldn’t get tired.

Cen Jin smiled thinly at the bartender, "We’ll take Shishu back first, as for the tab... Jiang Baizhou, please settle it."

Hearing this, Jiang Baizhou was about to take out his phone to settle the bill, but the bartender quickly smiled and said, "Miss Nie, no need to be so formal. Our boss has instructed, as long as it’s Miss Lu’s tab, he covers it, no need to pay."

"Ah, really?" Cen Jin was slightly surprised. She had seen the bar owner twice, he was particularly handsome and also a young, successful businessman.

"Yes."

"Alright then!" It wasn’t her place to comment on such matters, Lu Shishu would have to deal with it herself. Supporting Lu Shishu, she took a couple of steps forward, suddenly remembered, and turned her head, "Oh, right, about that guy who called Shishu, if he comes, just tell him I’ve taken her home, call her tomorrow for anything!"

"Okay."

Cen Jin withdrew her gaze, but was still plagued with doubts, especially if the person wasn’t whom she and Jiang Baizhou thought.

No, when she got back, she had to ask Feici.

Otherwise, she’d be completely uncertain.

As the two of them supported Lu Shishu towards the bar entrance, they were met face-to-face with a hurried black silhouette. While turning up the steps, they almost collided, and before Cen Jin could say ’sorry’, she looked up and saw a strikingly handsome face that left not only humans but gods envious, stunning her completely, and all previous confidence disappeared at once.

The black figure nearly bumped into someone and quickly uttered an ’apology’, his voice as warm as the sun, rich and calm, with a hint of unruly cheerfulness. But upon clearly seeing the people in front, he also paused in surprise, the gaze beneath his vintage glasses flickered slightly before smoothly speaking, "Cen Jin, Bai Zhou, long time no see."
