Chapter 215 - 214: Am I better looking than the TV?

Chapter 215 - 214: Am I better looking than the TV?

Jiang Baizhou slightly furrowed his brows, gazing at her focused profile. His lips lightly pressed together, a faint hint of deep meaning flickering in his profound dark eyes. After a brief moment of contemplation, he slowly rose from the sofa, walked to the floor-to-ceiling window, pulled it closed, then drew the curtains. Returning to sit beside Cen Jin, he didn’t rush to interrupt her engrossed TV watching. Instead, he glanced at the artistic clock hanging on the wall, seeing the time pointing to eight fifty. He raised his brows, his expression becoming leisurely, as he relaxedly leaned his head against the back of the chair, his gaze alternating between the television and her.Around eight fifty-five, the television went into commercials, and Cen Jin relaxed. Casually picking up the remote, she switched the TV to the online channel to start searching for that show. Seeing this, Jiang Baizhou reached out and grabbed the remote, another hand holding hers: "Alright, during the commercials, go take a shower first before continuing. It’ll be quite chilly to shower later. Look, your hands are already a bit cold."

Initially upset about the remote being taken away, Cen Jin wanted to angrily question him, but his words instantly calmed her anger. She nodded, placing her pillow and blanket aside: "Alright, I’ll go shower first, don’t turn off the TV."

"Mm." Watching her get up and head to the bathroom, a devilish smile appeared on Jiang Baizhou’s lips. He sat up straight, picked up his phone from the table, and began to pass the time.

By nine twenty, Cen Jin had finished her shower, tying up her hair while wearing a set of fresh blue pajamas. She walked over in small steps, kicking off her slippers, and curled her legs on the sofa, her eyes searching for the remote near Jiang Baizhou’s side. She leaned over directly past Jiang Baizhou, lying on his legs to grab the remote.

For the sudden closeness of warmth and softness, Jiang Baizhou was visibly startled, his hand holding the phone slightly tightening. His eyes narrowed, and as she intended to return to her seat, he deftly tossed the phone aside, pulled her waist closer, and grabbed the wrist holding the remote, pressing her onto the sofa.

Cen Jin was caught off guard by the sudden turn of events, blinking her eyes at the handsome face inches away. Slowly coming to her senses, she instinctively swallowed when meeting his somewhat muddled and deep black eyes, her body stiffening and uncertainly asked: "What... what are you doing?"

"What do you think?" Jiang Baizhou leaned down, his cold lips lightly brushing her soft lips, warm breath softly exhaling, lingering around her nose with a hint of alluring charm.

Upon hearing this, Cen Jin hurriedly placed her hand against his chest, giving him a displeased glance and whispered: "Stop messing around, I’m still watching TV!"

"Am I more interesting than the TV?"

Hearing his self-assured tone, Cen Jin rolled her eyes silently, her lips barely moving as she intended to speak. Yet, Jiang Baizhou didn’t give her any chance, directly leaning in to capture her breath and increasingly deepening the kiss.

Cen Jin was kissed until she was completely numb, her beautiful eyes becoming more and more unfocused. Her hands at his chest relaxed, and the remote in her hand slipped to the sofa.

Just as his broad, slender hand was about to caress her slender waist, a crisp ringtone suddenly rang through the apartment, bringing Cen Jin abruptly back to her senses, staring at him in a daze.

Jiang Baizhou was also visibly surprised, his brow furrowing in the process. This momentary pause lasted about ten seconds before he contemplated continuing, but the phone ringtone had already started for the second time. Cen Jin let out a sound, gently pushed him away: "Wait, the phone, let’s see who it is, it might be something urgent!"

Jiang Baizhou’s handsome face instantly darkened, his displeased expression revealing a coldness in his black eyes. Finally, he buried his face in her neck like a deflated balloon, seemingly sulking with a slight ’hmph’.

Seeing this, Cen Jin could only laugh silently, softly planting a kiss on his side face, pushing him off, and sitting up. She picked up the phone from the table and saw ’Shi Shu’ displayed on the screen, showing a slight surprise before quickly answering: "Hello, Shi Shu..."

As soon as she spoke, a chaotic noise erupted from the other end, causing Cen Jin to pause: "Shi Shu, where are you? Why is it so noisy there?"

"Cen Jin, can you come pick me up? I drank a bit too much." As soon as Cen Jin asked, a clear yet obviously tipsy voice came through from the other end.

Hearing this, Cen Jin stood up, asking worriedly: "Where are you? How much did you drink?"

"At the bar! Not much really."

Cen Jin seriously pressed her lips together, listening to her speech speed and tone, she knew this wasn’t like her usual intoxicated state. Normally, she wouldn’t call unless she was too drunk to walk, when she was truly losing consciousness, she would call for help.

"Which bar are you at?"

"Xinghai Bar." Lu Shishu’s voice was very hazy, her tone mumbling, and her words noticeably drawn out: "I’ll wait for you, Cen Jin."

"Alright."

After hanging up the phone, Cen Jin turned to look at the gloomy Jiang Baizhou and sighed helplessly: "Come on, don’t be down, change clothes quickly, Shi Shu is at Xinghai Bar, she’s had too much to drink, let’s go pick her up quickly."

Hearing this, Jiang Baizhou furrowed his brow again: "Drunk?"

"Yes!" Cen Jin answered while heading toward the cloakroom.

Jiang Baizhou also got up, chased after, and asked with pursed lips: "Did something happen?" He had known Lu Shishu for many years and understood her well enough. She was particularly independent and had a clear sense of boundaries in everything, especially concerning drinking. She knew her limit very well and would never get so drunk as to need others to pick her up.

"I don’t know, didn’t have time to ask, but we’ll know once we get there." Cen Jin was noticeably anxious, knowing Lu Shishu well, she understood that for her to drink like this, something deeply troubling must have happened.

"Don’t rush, just change your clothes first, and remember to wear a coat." Understanding Cen Jin’s concern, Jiang Baizhou calmly soothed her, then went to the bedroom for a coat and car keys.

"Mm." Cen Jin took a deep breath and nodded, casually taking out a set of clothes to change.

Once both had changed and packed their bags, they left the apartment to take the elevator to the underground parking lot, heading to the ’Xinghai Bar’ where Lu Shishu was.
