Chapter 217 - 216: As you can see, drunk
Cen Jin and Jiang Baizhou were both stunned, standing in place, completely unable to react as they looked at the sunny boy who had disappeared for seven years. Compared to seven years ago, he now appeared more composed and reserved. The bright eyes behind the retro chain glasses were more profound than they were back then, as if they had been immersed in something, yet still incredibly bright."How is she... now?" Before they could fully regain their senses, his gaze locked onto the drunken Lu Shishu, his expression tinged with a hint of melancholy, as he asked in a voice neither too light nor too heavy.
"As you can see, drunk." Jiang Baizhou was the first to react, slightly curling his lips, a distant and chilly look in his eyes.
Cen Jin only came back to herself when she heard Jiang Baizhou’s voice. Seeing him greet and inquire so calmly, she was instantly filled with anger. Her small face immediately drooped, looking at him with a blank expression and a tone filled with obvious anger and stiff indifference: "Sorry, could you make way? How Shi Shu is shouldn’t have anything to do with you, right?" After saying that, she directly walked past him, supporting Lu Shishu.
In the end, her worst fear had come true.
"Apologies, they are best friends, as you should know." Jiang Baizhou, with one hand in his pocket, explained nonchalantly.
He pressed his lips tightly together and nodded, "Yes, I know, you and Cen Jin..."
"Got married."
"Is that so? As expected, congratulations." He smiled, brilliant as the stars.
"Jiang Baizhou, are you planning to leave or not?" Cen Jin shouted annoyedly as she exited the bar and saw that Jiang Baizhou had not followed.
Jiang Baizhou nodded slightly at him and also walked past him.
Watching the backs of the three as they left, Nan Jiayan lowered his head for about two seconds and then also walked out. Seeing them get into the car, he too got into his car, gradually following Jiang Baizhou’s car.
Jiang Baizhou calmly drove the car, inadvertently glancing at the rearview mirror, his eyes squinting slightly, "He’s followed us."
"Let him follow, what does it have to do with us?" Cen Jin was indifferent, not planning to show Nan Jiayan any kindness or say anything nice to him now.
Doesn’t he think he’s harmed Lu Shishu enough already?
Wasn’t the way Lu Shishu turned out all thanks to him?
After the car reached Lu Shishu’s residence in Nanfeng District, Cen Jin supported Lu Shishu out of the car without even glancing at the car that had followed them, directly entering the neighborhood. Jiang Baizhou watched and just turned back to take a look, then followed Cen Jin in stride.
Exiting the elevator, reaching the floor of Lu Shishu’s apartment, Cen Jin skillfully turned a corner, reached the door, unlocked the password lock, adeptly entered the code, and with a ’click,’ the door opened, and she supported her inside.
"Need help?" Jiang Baizhou followed inside, noticing she seemed somewhat strained, and asked softly.
After all, he was a man, and even if he was familiar with Lu Shishu, he still needed to maintain some distance.
"No need, Shi Shu isn’t that heavy, just tired from supporting her for so long. It’s not far, I can handle it. Besides, it’s not appropriate for a man to go into a young lady’s room." Cen Jin shook her head, and with that, supported Lu Shishu into her bedroom.
Jiang Baizhou waited in the living room for over a minute, and realizing Cen Jin hadn’t come out, he seemed to think of something, turned to the door, and as he opened it, the figure outside entered his sight. Jiang Baizhou was slightly taken aback, not expecting him to have followed so closely.
Seeing the door open, Nan Jiayan looked over in surprise, their eyes meeting Jiang Baizhou’s indifferent ones, his face showing growing concern, his lips moved slightly, "Is she... alright?"
"What do you think?" Jiang Baizhou gently closed the door, looking at him with a bland gaze. After a moment, seeing Nan Jiayan not speaking, Jiang Baizhou took two steps forward, tilting his head and asking, "When did you come back?"
"It’s been several days." Nan Jiayan’s eyes mingled with a bright smile, as if he had returned to that sunny young man from seven years ago.
Jiang Baizhou glanced at him deeply, then silently retracted his gaze, pursing his lips without speaking.
"When did you and Cen Jin get married?" After a long silence in the corridor, Nan Jiayan finally broke the quiet.
"Not long ago, just got the license, haven’t had the wedding yet."
"I see, when are you planning to have the wedding?"
"Next year."
Nan Jiayan chuckled softly, and after a while, nodded, "Hmm, congratulations again."
"Thank you."
The two stood leaning against the wall in the corridor, chatting for about five to six minutes. Suddenly, the door was unlocked, and Cen Jin came out. Seeing the two standing shoulder to shoulder, with a gap of a shoulder between them, leaning against the wall in apparent conversation, she was taken aback but immediately frowned and discreetly glared at Jiang Baizhou.
"All done?" Seeing her come out, Jiang Baizhou straightened up and asked.
Cen Jin nodded, closing the door, "Hmm, she’s quite drunk." Then she turned to Nan Jiayan, "How did you get up here?"
Hearing Cen Jin’s question, Nan Jiayan couldn’t help but laugh, his eyes naturally scanning towards the door next door. Before he could speak, Jiang Baizhou’s voice rang out first, "You live next door?"
"What?" Cen Jin widened her eyes in surprise, staring at Nan Jiayan in disbelief, pointing at the nearly adjoining doors, "You live next to Shi Shu?"
Nan Jiayan smiled and nodded, but seeing their shocked and puzzled expressions, he raised an eyebrow and explained, "If I said it was by coincidence, and that I found out it was her place only after moving in, you probably wouldn’t believe me, right?"
"Do you think we should believe you?" Cen Jin gave him a sidelong glance, her brows knitted, clearly dissatisfied.
Nan Jiayan chuckled again but offered no further explanation.
"Does Shi Shu know you live next door?"
Nan Jiayan shook his head, "No, I just moved in yesterday; I was staying at a hotel before."
"Then how does she know you’re back?" Cen Jin, realizing something was still unclear, posed another question.
"I’m currently managing Xuan Mo Su Hua Art Gallery. She happened to have an exhibition in collaboration with us in the past few days. We met yesterday." Recalling the scene from yesterday, Nan Jiayan’s expression involuntarily darkened.
After hearing this, Cen Jin’s eyebrows once again furrowed with displeasure. She opened her mouth, seemingly wanting to say something, but in the end said nothing, just waved her hand, "Since Shi Shu’s resting, we’ll head back for now. You... although I don’t know your reasons from before, if you came back this time just to sprinkle salt on Shi Shu’s wounds, I won’t let you off."
