Chapter 300: I’m Wrong and Please Forgive Me
Chapter 300: I’m Wrong and Please Forgive Me
...
Noticing that Halle was upset, Hilla was in a bad mood, too.
She grabbed the nurse’s arm and asked, "Where is Horton? I need to see him."
"The patient has left the hospital for a while. His family signed the discharge papers for him. If you want to contact him, you may find his information at the nurses’ station."
The nurse said seriously. Not just the nurses’ station, every young female nurse in this hospital had Horton’s contact information.
The speaking nurse herself also had it, but she felt that Hilla looked intimidating, so she dared not tell Hilla.
Hilla frowned. She thought that the nurse must have Horton’s contact information.
She needed to see Horton at once and asked him why he didn’t show up and why he wanted to hurt Halle’s feelings.
He was so affectionate to Halle not long ago, but now, when Halle accepted his proposal, he made her a joke.
It was true that he had pursued her for a long time, and maybe he was full of bitterness. But that was not the reason he treated Halle like this.
"Halle, don’t worry. I’ll go find him and ask him," Hilla said.
"Hilla," Halle called.
Halle stopped Hilla before she left.
So Hilla could only call Horton repeatedly.
But his number was disconnected.
Margaret said crossly, "Horton is way out of line this time. I won’t forgive him. Halle, don’t worry. Hilla and I will go to find that bastard and beat him up."
Halle stood up. She tried to smile but still couldn’t.
She sighed and said, with her face calm and voice soft, "No need, let’s go home!"
"Halle."
"Halle."
Margaret and Hilla muttered. They knew that Halle must be very sad right now. This morning, they saw that she was very much looking forward to their matrimony.
"I am really okay. I was the one who proposed to him. He has the right to accept or refuse," Halle said.
"If he wanted to refuse, why didn’t he refuse at the beginning? Why did he have to
wait until today? Halle, you have to be strong," Margaret said.
Margaret pouted. She grew up with Horton. Although He was thin and seemed unreliable, she never thought that he was a bad guy.
Their years of friendship had come to an end. From now on, he, Horton Hutt, was her enemy.
Hilla looked at Halle worriedly and said, "Halle, are you all right? What..." What about Emily?
She thought that she could finally see the three become family, and Horton could give Halle and Emily a better life. But things turned out so different.
No one had expected that Horton would run out on their wedding.
"I’m fine, and it’s a good thing that he can think things through before our wedding.
It’s better than regretting it later," Halle said.
Halle’s words shocked Hilla, so she asked, "That’s it? Halle, are you going to forgive him?"
"What can I do? Marriage is between me and him. Maybe it is fair now. It was I who had been avoiding him when he wanted to be with me. Now, we have switched places, so we are even," Halle said sadly.
She looked calm, but Hilla knew that she must feel terrible.
The less Halle showed her feelings, the more she cared about it.
But Horton gave up on her when she affirmed her love for him.
"But..." Hilla hesitated.
"I am fine. Emily is still at home alone. I am really worried about her. Let’s go home," Halle interrupted Hilla.
A marriage that was not approved by most people was indeed not going to go well.
Seeing Halle walk out of the ward, Hilla felt distressed, with her hands cold. Margaret came closer and took her hands.
Margaret said, "Hilla, Halle looks sad."
She looked painfully thin and lonely.
Being dumped on her wedding day was much harder to accept.
Hilla was cold as ice. She suddenly grabbed Margaret’s hand and said without expression, "Do me a favor and find out where Horton is now."
"Hilla, what do you want to..." Margaret was trying to stop her.
"He has no right to treat Halle like this. He is way out of line. So, I must find him and beat him up," Hilla said coldly.
Malevolence glittered in her eyes, which excited depressed Margaret.
Margaret looked at Hilla with her blazing eyes.
She finally knew why her brother would choose Hilla. They were meant to be family.
Anyone who dared bother their family members, it never ended well for them.
"Hilla, don’t worry. I will definitely complete the task before twelve o’clock tomorrow. I promise that you can beat him up as you wish. The Anderson family will cover that for you," Margaret said.
Whatever, the Hutt family did not care about Horton. Even if they did, they dared not go up against the Anderson family.
At this moment, she felt that it was especially important to be rich and overbearing.
It was true that money gave one power.
...
Orlenna was taking care of the three children at home today and was about to speak when she saw them back.
Halle stepped forward and spoke to her gently, "Sorry to bother you with Emily. Allow me to take her back to rest."
Before Orlenna said something, Halle had brought Emily directly back to her room.
She turned to look at Hilla and Margaret who had just entered the room.
As soon as Margaret came back, she sat down and threw her bag away crossly on the sofa.
Hilla didn’t look well either, and she was obviously furious.
"It’s a big day. What’s wrong with all of you? Where’s Horton? Didn’t he come back with you guys?" Orlenna asked.
She glanced at the door and still didn’t see Horton.
"Mom, don’t mention that jerk. He doesn’t deserve everything we have done for him. Why didn’t I know that he is such a jerk before? If I had known it earlier, I should have kicked him into the swimming pool and let him drown," Margaret cried.
"What are you talking about?" Orlenna asked.
She glared at Margaret. Whatever happened, Horton was brought up by her.
Even if they were not related. She loved him as if he were her son.
"That’s true. Horton is a jerk. It was him who kept saying how much he loves Halle, but today he stood her up. The three of us waited for him in the hospital for a whole day, but he didn’t show up to explain. He was going too far," Margaret complained.
She was saying so, but she was also thinking about how to find out Horton and beat him up first. That was what she really wanted to do.
Orlenna was also stunned. She knew Horton and she didn’t believe that he would do such things.
While they were talking, Bruce came in from the outside.
Hilla glanced at him, pursing her lips, and said in a low voice, "I’ll go back to my room first."
She hurried past Bruce without saying a word. He wondered if he had done something wrong to upset Hilla.
"Bruce, you’re finally back," Margaret called.
She plunged into Bruce’s arms as if she was one who had been abandoned today.
"What’s going on?" he asked.
"It’s Horton. He and Halle were going to get married today. But he stood Halle up and broke her heart," Margaret said.
Bruce frowned and thought that why didn’t he know that Horton was going to marry Halle.
He had no idea that Horton almost became his brother-in-law. It was good for him that Horton ran off.
...
Bruce comforted Hilla in his arms, looked at Orlenna, and asked, "What’s the matter?"
Halle was going to marry Horton, which had been around long among the Andersons. Why didn’t Bruce know about it? And no one at home told Bruce this.
Halle was Hilla’s sister and she was going to get married. Was it not Bruce’s place to know who his brother-in-law was?
Seeing Bruce serious, Orlenna looked away guiltily.
"As you heard, Halle’s getting married. But it has nothing to do with us, right?"
Bruce frowned. It was true that it didn’t have much to do with them.
But Halle was marrying Horton, which would be somewhat related to Bruce.
Because Horton was going to be Bruce’s brother-in-law.
Bruce’s handsome face sank at the thought of this.
Margaret by his side felt that Bruce rejected Halle’s marriage.
Margaret pulled a long face and said, "Bruce, Halle is related to you. She was bullied. You will stand up for her, won’t you?"
"Stand up for her?"
Bruce gave Margaret a cold look. Margaret immediately understood and her eyes shone as she nodded.
Margaret said seriously, "Whether it’s for Halle or the Andersons, a jerk like Horton should get nailed."
It would be best to teach Horton a good lesson so that he wouldn’t dare to toy with others’ feelings again.
He deserved it.
Bruce raised his eyebrows and smiled. "You are right. He should be taught a lesson."
Margaret stared at Bruce’s sinister look and got chills up her spine.
She really wanted to beat Horton up, but looking into Bruce’s eyes, she thought Bruce hated Horton more than she did.
Given Bruce’s attitude, it was very likely that Horton was going to get beaten up badly.
Margaret began to take pity on Horton.
Why did Horton have to toy with Halle’s feelings?
He really deserved it.
Hilla went back to her room to take a shower. She wanted to be with Halle, but Halle refused. So Hilla had to return to her room.
Bruce was waiting for her in bed when Hilla reached her room.
Seeing that Hilla was worried, Bruce stepped forward and pulled her into his arms. "Has someone upset you?"
Hilla held Bruce’s waist and rested her head on his chest.
She whined, "How come it’s so hard for Halle to have a normal life?"
When Halle fell in love with Titus and married him, she got into a fine mess.
Having a daughter, Halle was either pestered by Titus or threatened by the Hutts.
There was no hiding from them.
Finally, Halle came around, stopped avoiding Horton, and accepted him, but was stood up by him.
It seemed that everyone got what they wanted except Halle.
"I don’t understand why Horton is like this. Why did he agree to marry Halle if he minded that she had been married and that she had rejected him before?"
Just as Halle had so much to look forward to, Horton put a damper on her. "Horton has gone too far."
Horton would never be Bruce’s brother-in-law.
Bruce’s voice came from the top of Hilla’s head. His breath was in her hair, warm and damp.
Hilla frowned and said worriedly, "But..."
Emily was Horton’s daughter!
For Emily, any other man Halle would marry was not as good as her own father.
"If you’re worried about Halle and Emily being left alone, I do know a few single business celebrities of decent character."
"You want to set Halle up?"
Hilla raised her head in Bruce’s arms and looked at him in disbelief.
Did she just hear him right?
Mr. Anderson was occupied with a myriad of affairs but had time to play cupid.
Did Bruce really have no ax to grind?
Hilla looked at Bruce suspiciously.
Why did she feel that Bruce was unreliable in handling this?
"But Halle and Horton just went through this. She’s probably not in the mood for a blind date!"
Although Halle didn’t say it, Halle didn’t fall in love with somebody easily. Besides, she was a devoted girlfriend.
"It doesn’t matter. We can introduce them to her. Halle may find that some guy is better than Horton." And he would make a better brother-in-law to Bruce.
Hilla frowned. She found Bruce’s story unreliable, but it was better for Halle to distract herself from Horton.
"Well, I’ll ask her tomorrow if she wants to." Hilla whispered, afraid that Halle would reject.
Bruce was pleased and pursed his lips. He felt much better when he thought Horton wouldn’t walk all over him.
Bruce’s arms tightened around Hilla, who was more attractive with a much fuller figure after giving birth.
Fascinated, Bruce ran his big hand over her sexy waist and up her spine.
Hilla came back to her senses and blushed.
"You haven’t showered yet."
"Well, give me a bath then!"
Bruce picked Hilla up and held her tightly in his arms.
Hilla’s pink cheeks were more seductive in the light with light shadows under her drooping eyelashes.
Hilla held Bruce’s neck tightly. She clutched his clothes with her fingertips and rubbed them nervously as her heart was racing.
Having sons, Hilla was still shy when she made out with Bruce.
Bruce lowered his head and kissed her full and rosy lips, his voice hoarse. "Mrs. Anderson."
"Yes!"
It was only after Hilla was carried into the bathroom that she realized what would happen.
Hilla struggled to get out but was pressed against the bathroom wall.
She felt the cold marble on her back through her thin nightgown.
Hilla shivered, clutched the clothes on her chest, and said, aggrieved, "I took a shower just now."
"Well!"
"I was wrong."
She shouldn’t have said yes at all. Was it like a lamb to the slaughter? Bruce was in a good mood when he saw Hilla’s flushing face. "What if I don’t forgive you?"
Hilla raised her head and was stunned for a moment. Then she looked crossly at Bruce who smirked unpleasantly.
Hilla seemed to struggle with herself for a moment and reached out her arm to hold Bruce’s neck.
She tiptoed and kissed Bruce on his lips.
Bruce touched his lips with a hint of laughter in his black eyes and said, "What are you doing?"
Hilla lowered her head pitifully and whispered, "I was wrong. Please forgive me!"
