Chapter 953 953: Timely Help

Chapter 953 953: Timely Help

The cracked-toothed General's eyes widened in sheer horror as the runes beneath his feet ignited, glowing with a deadly, iridescent intent.

It was a trap.

Sol had meticulously forced him into this exact position, and only now, as the air began to hum with mana, did he realize the depth of her deception.

But was it already too late to escape the impending surge?

A violent rush of wind erupted from the earth beneath his boots.

Without delay, his massive chains curled inward, immediately coiling around his frame like a protective metallic cocoon.

He finished the maneuver just in time; a massive blast of gale-force wind sent his armored body flying through the air, hurtling across the battlefield before crashing into the distance.

A three-meter-wide crater instantly manifested where the heavy cocoon impacted the soil.

Sol wasted no time capitalizing on the opening.

Gripping the jagged earth spears in her hands a little tighter, the girl exploded forward.

For a mage who definitely didn't utilize ki, her velocity was staggering.

It appeared as though she were using advanced wind augmentations to push her physical limits.

She closed the distance within mere moments and quickly transitioned into a fierce offensive.

Her first earth spike was sent whistling toward the huddled mass of chains.

However, before the strike could connect, the links unfurled themselves with a metallic screech, immediately darting at her like venomous snakes aiming for a lethal bite.

Sol remained incredibly agile on her feet.

Her instincts kicked in as she successfully batted one of the chains aside just in time.

As she leaped backward to create space, a second chain gave chase.

She pivoted to the flank almost instantly, causing the heavy metal to burrow into the ground, ripping a deep, jagged gouge in the terrain.

Twirling one of the spikes in her hand with practiced ease, she stabbed it into the earth to anchor her turn and launched forward again.

Closing the gap in mere seconds, she proceeded to swing the remaining spike toward the man's head with a desperate strength.

Clang—!

Her gaze sharpened immediately.

A third chain had already risen to intercept her strike, and in the collision, the brittle earth spike split in half.

'Damn it!'

She gritted her teeth, seeing the General's sinister, blood-stained smile through the gaps in his defense.

From behind her, the air began to whistle with a familiar, terrifying sound.

The chains were circling back!

Before she could even attempt to leap away, a fourth chain moved with blistering speed, immediately coiling around her ankles and pinning her to the spot.

She froze, shock written across her features as her momentum was snatched away.

Before Sol could even formulate a counter-measure, she felt a sudden rush of wind slamming into her face.

Wait—no. It wasn't the wind.

Her face had smashed directly into the hard-packed earth.

Her eyes widened as a wave of ravenous pain washed over her, followed by a ragged cough that sprayed specks of blood onto the dirt.

Before she could gather her senses, she was hoisted into the air by the chains, which manipulated her like a puppet.

Then, she was clobbered into the ground a second time with bone-shattering force.

This time, the impact point transformed into a five-meter-wide crater.

Clenching her jaws against the agony, her eyes blazed with a defiant fire as she glared at her tormentor.

'Fight against them, Sol, they said. I'm not prepared, I said! But no—they just had to force me into this damned situation,' she bellowed inwardly, shooting daggers at the General with her gaze.

The chains twitched again, tensing as they prepared to deliver a third slam that would likely shatter her ribs.

But before the metal could descend, a rain of wind swords suddenly whistled down from the heavens, forcing the General to snap his head upward toward the sky.

Without delay, his other chains burst forth, deflecting the wind swords as if they were mere needles.

They moved with blistering speed, yet the aerial bombardment remained unrelenting.

Looking in the direction from which they originated, Sol could see Raze atop his wind bird, his expression one of intense focus.

After launching another dozen gale blades, lightning crackled around Raze's hands.

Without wasting a second, he sent more than fifty electrical arrows screaming toward the General.

Seeing the massive volley of attacks heading his way, the man unconsciously released Sol, choosing to prioritize the lethal projectiles descending upon him.

He leaped, weaved, and moved with impressive speed, avoiding whatever strikes his chains were unable to parry in time.

Smoke, dust, and debris billowed into the atmosphere as the stray attacks pulverized the earth.

Yet the man kept moving, deflecting and dodging without showing much strain, though a deep frown remained etched on his face due to the persistent interference.

Sol wasn't about to let this opportunity slip away.

Grabbing hold of a snapped ice spear and another jagged earth spike, she blurred into motion.

Blood dribbled down her lips as her body screamed in agony from her previous injuries, but she refused to stop.

She closed the distance and dived into the dust cloud obscuring the General's position.

'His chains are totally occupied and so is he. This is my chance.'

She twirled several times, darting forward like a released arrow, her makeshift weapons poised for a lethal strike to the neck.

But in the next heartbeat, the General's eyes rolled toward her.

The frown on his face vanished instantly, replaced by a crooked, predatory smile that revealed his cracked teeth.

Then, the air shuddered violently, followed by a massive surge of twenty additional chains that seemingly manifested out of thin air.

They launched toward Sol, whose eyes widened in genuine horror.

'Cr—Cr—Crap.'

In another sector of the battlefield, Viktor continued his face-off against the diminutive General.

The ground beneath the commander's feet had just caved in, threatening to send him plummeting into the dark abyss.

But shockingly, the small man proved to be incredibly agile and nimble.

He vaulted off the crumbling earth just as his footing vanished.

Mid-air, he glared in Viktor's direction, and out of nowhere, a bow and arrow appeared in his grip.

Nocking the string while still suspended in the sky, he let the projectile fly.

The arrow immediately split into a hundred distinct points, raining down on Viktor's position with the velocity of lightning.

Gravity shifted instantly around the mage as he pointed his hand at the incoming volley.

Almost immediately, a twisting black hole materialized, exerting a powerful gravitational pull.

Before the General could even touch the ground, all his arrows were sucked into Viktor's sinkhole, neutralized in an instant.

Yet, the armored man remained strangely calm.

Viktor was about to take a step forward to press his advantage when a loud, echoing crash lingered in the air.

The sound drew both of their attentions toward the distance, where the bald-headed General had just been launched out of the sky.

He crashed into the earth with enough force to kick a massive wall of dust into the atmosphere, signaling that Kael's fight had taken a drastic turn.
