Chapter 356: Sorrow and Anger
With Michael making the call, it did not take long before someone opened the door of the villa, before stepping in.
Upon hearing someone coming in, Kate immediately looked over, only to realize that it was someone unfamiliar.
He had a medium build and short green hair trimmed neatly around the sides. A mustache rested above his upper lip, giving his face a mature edge, while his brown eyes gazed around the room as soon as he entered.
He wore a dark bomber jacket over a charcoal sweater, paired with straight-cut jeans and brown boots suited for the cool afternoon weather.
Moreover, this person was currently carrying someone on his shoulder like a sack of potatoes.
The person being carried over was not reacting at all, as if he was unconscious, or maybe dead?
Thud!
As soon as he entered the living room of the villa, he unceremoniously dropped the person that he was carrying onto the floor.
The fall, it was as if a switch had been flicked, and the person who had fallen suddenly groaned as his consciousness was roused.
Kate looked at the person who had been dropped on the floor, with a bald head, green eyes and the muscular frame. Looking at him, she did not recognize him at all.
"Hi, my name is Benson." The guy who had just dropped another on the floor stretched his hand towards Kate as he introduced himself.
Even though she was a little startled, Kate quickly responded as she shook his hand and introduced herself.
Immediately after, Benson looked at Michael and asked, "Mike, should I tie him up or should I break both of his limbs so that he would not cause any problem?"
Michael simply shook his head as he said, "Take him to the basement. We will be there in a while."
Benson immediately nodded before he grabbed Bob, who had just regained his consciousness and was still confused, dragging him towards the basement.
"Y-you! Who are you?! Do you know who I am?! You better let me go right now, or you will regret it!" As things settled in, Bob panicked.
Previously, he was just staying within his villa, when suddenly, someone broke in. He was in his room, talking with Amos about the next plans that should be carried out, when suddenly, someone barged in.
Just as he was confused about what was going on, this person moved at an incredible speed, knocking him out with a single blow.
And the next moment that he opened his eyes, he realized that he had been locked inside a dark room. He had been there for quite a long time, with him not being sure how long it had been.
Until now, he had not eaten or drank anything, being overwhelmed with thirst and hunger.
Seemingly, the place that he had been locked, there was nobody around. So, no matter how much he called, nobody ever responded.
And just as he was losing hope, this guy came into the room that he was locked in. Bob immediately remembered that this was the person that had knocked him out.
Immediately after recognizing him, Bob immediately tried to threaten him. At first, he used the Santos family, but this person did not budge.
When he tried using the name of the blood reapers syndicate, there was no reaction at all. This left him panicked, as he understood that this person was not ordinary.
Considering the speed that he had moved when he knocked him out, it was clear that this guy was a mutant. Even though he himself worked for both the Santos family and the blood reapers syndicate, he was just an ordinary person.
As compared to ordinary people, he had the capability of fighting against multiple opponents. But against a mutant, he stood no chance.
Realizing that he could not intimidate this person, Bob completely panicked. The usual indifferent facade that he had been wearing over the years crumbled, as he immediately panicked.
But even before he could say anything else, he was once again knocked out. It was only after he had been thrown on the floor that he regained his consciousness.
And not long after, he felt he was being dragged somewhere, which left him confused. And as he looked around, he finally realized that this place seemed kind of familiar.
It was just that he could not remember when he had been here. Despite the confusion in his mind, he just could not allow himself to be tortured, or even more, being used as a guinea pig.
As those wild thoughts appeared in his mind, he frantically tried to free himself, but that grasp over him did not budge in the slightest.
In the end, while he continuously flailed around, he was dragged to the basement, where he was taken into an empty room.
Thud!
After Benson got to the entrance, he simply threw Bob into the room, causing the guy to groan in pain from the heavy landing.
Immediately after that, Benson closed the door, before he left.
Even though he was assigned the task of bringing Bob over, that did not imply that he had to stay here. In any case, he was the one that was in charge of Vanguard Corporation.
While on the surface, it was Dwayne who was in charge of all the activities related to the company. But for the major decisions related to the new developments of the company, all of them were decided by Benson.
Unlike Adrian, who was overtly running Sky Technologies, Benson did not like the limelight. So, he usually stayed in the dark, and not many people within the company knew about his existence.
And apart from Dwayne, all those that knew about his existence did not know that he was the one that was in charge of the company. They just thought that he was someone familiar with Dwayne.
Since he was already done with his task here, he decided to go back to the capital. In any case, regarding the recent operations of Vanguard Corporation, there were a lot of things that needed to be handled.
So, when he got to the living room, he said to Michael, "I have locked him in the basement. I will be going back now, as I left something pending."
"Sure. You can leave, there is no need to idly stay here. Anyway, if I need you for anything, I will contact you." Michael nodded as he responded.
Benson nodded back before he left the villa.
On the other hand, Michael looked at Kate, who was still raging. Michael had just revealed to her that the person who had been brought over was the very same person that they were waiting for.
As Kate thought about the death of her father, she really wanted to skin Bob alive. But, when Michael revealed to her that it was the same guy that was involved with the death of his parents, she was left completely stunned.
Just what kind of coincidence was this? Judging from Michael’s explanation, it was clear that the death of both of his parents was due to the schemes of the Blood Reapers syndicate.
But the death of her father, it was just a coincidence. The case that he was handling was related to Bob’s subordinate. That was why he ended up dying, after he refused to cooperate with them.
Despite the sadness in her heart, she wrapped her hands tightly around Michael’s waist, her tears falling silently. She did not sob loudly, and neither was a body shaking.
But Michael could feel the wetness on his chest, an obvious indication of her tears.
At this moment, Kate felt quite pained. Not just for herself, but for Michael as well.
Unlike her, who had only lost her father, Michael had lost both of his parents. While she might have lost her father while she was quite young as compared to Michael, at least, her mother was there to take care of her.
Michael on the other hand faced difficulties after losing both of his parents by ending up in an orphanage that was run by gangsters.
As she thought about this, the difficulties that they had to undergo, she really hated the gangsters even more. Of course, this hatred was not something that would be pointed towards an innocent person.
She might dislike those that worked with gangsters, but she hated those gangsters themselves. Especially those that act and recklessly and lawlessly.
Those that did not consider human lives to be worth more than the benefits that they yearned for. They were the ones that she despised the most.
Michael said nothing, as he continuously patted her back, trying to calm her down. Of course, while he was not showing it, he was also angry.
It was just that, he was preventing himself from rushing to the basement and dealing with that Bob guy.
While Bob might not have been the one who was directly involved with the death of his parents, having just received orders, he was involved nonetheless.
Since that was the case, he had to pay the price for his actions. Today, Michael would make sure that he dealt with him well.
Eventually, a few minutes later, Kate finally calmed down. This time, she was no longer driven by sorrow and anger. Instead, she just felt the need to punish the one involved with the death of her father. She felt the need for vengeance.
Seeing her in this state, Michael finally stood up as he said, "Let’s go. It is time that we deal with this obsession of yours. I believe that after you deal with him, you can finally relax a bit.
As for your father, I’m trying to look for a method. In the future, there might be a possibility of bringing him back to life."
