Infinite Skin System: Starting as An Eldritch Knight

Chapter 105: Iganu

Chapter 105: Iganu

"Get to the point."

Belina chuckled. She swallowed the Seed back in. "We, the Invokers of that time, use our power to create a new element. The element that you see in the river. We called it Aether.

This thing helped us to gather faith of the people and turned it into power. Potentially to create our own Champion. But every coin has two sides.

The side effects of the Gold Stream is that it will create monsters that people fear. Monsters that would only exist in their mind."

"The Terrors were created by the people?" Carter raised an eyebrow.

"Exactly. They created you too."

Belina flew around Carter. His eyes were always on her and kept a safe distance. Even now, the white swordsman didn’t trust this ’Queen’ completely.

"I thought you were one of the invaders, Zeneros. But your entire existence belongs to this world. And it reeks of faith as well. They created you."

’The Skin System used faith to create Eldritch Knight? So it really didn’t just create something out of nothing. It must have a source.’

The Eldritch Knight stayed silent.

"Shock? Disbelief? I really want to know what is going on in that mind at the moment. To know that your entire existence is fake."

’I guess she doesn’t really go out much. If she did, she would know about the Skeleton Knight that I made up as well.’

Carter smiled gently. There was no confusion in his expression, or any of the emotion Belina expected.

"And what are you here to do, Belina Du Manac?"

"I am here to tell you to back off. Retreat. Go away. This Gold Stream is our only hope to make a Champion. Only with a Champion that we can defend ourselves from the outsiders."

"For thousands of years, you have tried. And yet, you have not become a Champion yet.

I do not agree with you about the fact that I am made up. I have my own memories. The people I treasure and loved."

"Why don’t you understand?" Belina said.

"But. Even if I was truly just a figment of their imagination. Even if I wasn’t real. I know for sure that this ’thing’ does more harm than good. We must not sacrifice the weak to save the many."

"Then what do you suggest? When you don’t have any choice at all?"

"Then we can die at one. Die proudly and honorably."

"You... You really are an honorable fool." Belina didn’t seem too upset at it. She knew better about the core of these imaginations. They would never betray their values. Not even in the face of Armageddon.

Carter raised his blade and aimed it at Belina. "And you aren’t here for the sake of humanity, Belina. I might be straight, but I’m not stupid. For thousands of years you have tried to become a Champion. If that is what you truly value, why don’t you let me take your place? I am more capable than you could ever be."

Belina squinted her eyes. Her gold body slowly dissipated away like ashes.

"I will wait you at the top of the Golden Tower. If you can beat me, the Golden Throne shall be yours."

Carter lifted his head toward the source of the Gold Stream. The center of the Holy City. A sky-splitting gold tower that touched the layer of the clouds. Belina was there. She’s waiting for him.

Carter marched forward.

"Zeneros! Please return alive!"

The white swordsman widened his eyes. He turned back to see no one at all. But it was real. His hearing was impeccable. It couldn’t be his imagination.

He had truly become the Zeneros Blackburn of Hexilia. The hope of the entire human race.

The Skin System went haywire with unknown messages popped up randomly. Then, it went silent. All system had been removed temporarily.

Zeneros turned his head back. His eyes were full of conviction.

"This ends here." He mumbled to himself.

The white swordsman flapped his white robe to the side, holding out his sleek black blade, the Prisoner. He marched forward once more toward the Holy City.

The gate opened up to welcome him. There were countless Terrors in there. They filled the entire city to the brim.

There must be thousands if not millions of Terrors here. They stared at him silently. But they did not attack yet. Their Queen hadn’t allowed them to strike.

"If I survived this, we must go for a drink, Victor." Zeneros was referring to Dr. Frankenstein.

The white swordsman took out the potions that the doctor had prepared for him. He chugged down all the Elixirs.

The Durability Elixir. The Strength Elixir. The Agility Elixir. The Blood Race Potion. And the Metabolic Amplifier Potion.

He shattered the glass bottles on the ground each time he finished drinking. He still had four more of each bottle inside his robe. And ten each for the Healing and Mana Potion.

"Remember your promise, Caine."

Carter Caine. The one that taught him Metabolism Manipulation and allowed him to gain the Awaken Adrenaline ability. This ability made him much stronger. He even awakened the second tier of the Superhuman Ability, the Evaporative Decompression.

Many people had helped him. Many things had contributed to his victories. All of this moment.

Zeneros breathed out. The potions in his blood stream released out a colorful breath.

"Iganu, my friend. One last time."

"Oi!"

The Prisoner responded this time. Inside Zeneros’s mind, an eye opened up and stared directly at him.

"Use my power..."

The Raven Armor appeared and wrapped around Zeneros. This time, there was no cool-down. The Terror within the Prisoner had unleashed its power.

The blade transformed. It became alive and breathed. One giant eye was visible in the middle of the sword.

"Adrenaline!" The red aura wrapped around Zeneros. He bolted into the Holy City.

With that, the last shackle on the Terrors was released. They rushed at him. These weren’t just Awaken Terrors, but also the Elite Skinwalkers that had gathered around to fight off their killer.

In their eyes, the white swordsman was no different than a Terror for a human. These monsters had finally learned fear.
