Chapter 104: Project Annihilation
Chapter 104: Project Annihilation
The leaders stood up. They had to pay respect to the man that single-handedly saved the East Continent.
"Please. There is no need for such formality." Carter said.
"You’re too polite, Master Blackburn. We all owe you for saving humanity." Shinichi said.
"I just do what I vowed to do. Please sit!"
Everyone nodded and sat down. Carter sat at the start of the long table, the seat of highest position.
"I called this meeting to decide on what we need to do at Manaca." Carter said.
Everyone lean forward in anticipation.
"I will strike into the Gold Stream myself. The Invokers and Priests... It will sound like I’m arrogant, but they are too weak to fight alongside me."
"Please, sir. No one thinks that you are arrogant." Priest Oliphim said.
"He’s right. Your power is on an entire different level compared to us." Neros nodded.
"Then I shall continue. I will go into the Gold Stream myself, figuring out the source of the Terror and end it. The Invokers and Priests can operate at the outside perimeter to make sure no innocent civilian will be caught in the crossfire. The military should join too. We need everyone working together to end the Terrors once and for all." Carter said.
General Dragovic stood up. He looked around the table then raised his hand before saying anything.
"Motion to proceed with Zeneros’s plan. Anyone who agrees, please raise their hand."
No one objected. They all agreed. The final operation was created.
The leaders called this Project Annihilation.
Everyone in the world knew something big was going to happen. They just didn’t know what. They all prayed for the white swordsman to win and return to them in one piece.
Zeneros Blackburn wasn’t just an ordinary man anymore. He had become a symbol of hope for Hexilia. Their path to the future and peace.
As for Carter, he had to make some final arrangements before the battle.
The Eldritch Knight was powerful. And he reacted pretty positively toward Shadow Apothecary’s Potions. Carter used Caine’s connections to collect a few ingredients only existed in this world to create even more potions.
At the moment, Carter had Durability, Strength, and Agility Elixirs that matched well with the Eldritch Knight.
The Intelligence Enhancement Potion was also an attribute potion but it wasn’t combat related.
[Added x10 Blood Race Potions to Brewer’s Chest]
[Added x10 Metabolic Amplifier Potions to Brewer’s Chest]
The two new potions were all centered around Adrenaline. The Blood Race Potion was a variation from the Heart Race Potion. However, instead of simulating the Awaken Adrenaline process, the Blood Race temporarily raised the maximum Epinephrine amount in the blood, enhancing Adrenaline power.
Metabolic Amplifier handled the back-end and quickened the rate of which Adrenaline became actual power.
These two potions combined with the previous three, and if needed, the Monster Beneath, should make him invincible in Elite-level. He may even have a chance in front of a Champion.
Carter didn’t know for sure how strong Champion was so he couldn’t be certain.
And the day came, Carter set out for Manaca, the region that was once called the Holy City.
Carter arrived at Manaca. The gold river was visible even from far away. The water was dense and shimmered just like real gold.
"Good luck, Zen." Neros said.
"It is finally the end now." Piper said.
Carter gave them a smile and jumped down from the aircraft. He landed heavily on the ground.
With Elite level Physical Fortitude, fall damage no longer affected him.
The white swordsman walked toward the gold river.
Surprisingly, no Terror was around to attack him. The Holy City seemed abandoned at this point.
Carter approached the gold river and squatted down.
’What is this thing?’
Carter dipped his hand into the gold liquid. He thought that it would be Terror Force, Negative Energy, or some kind of harmful power. But no, it was...
Faith.
The white swordsman widened his eyes briefly. He could here the prayer, the fear, the rumors of everyone on this planet inside the Gold Stream.
Suddenly, the space behind him distorted.
Carter stood up and unsheathing his sword. He faced that direction almost instantaneously.
The space calmed down and in it was a woman in full gold. She was a living being. Not a Terror.
"Interesting... The people created you out of desperation." She said.
"What do you mean?" Carter frowned.
This woman, she was an Elite like him. But she was Peak Elite. She was very near to become a Champion. There was a thin line that she hadn’t crossed yet.
"You should already know. You touched the Gold Stream. What do you think it is?" The gold woman said.
"Faith." He said.
The woman nodded, "Not just faith. But also fear. Imagination. Abstraction. Visualization."
’Those words... Aren’t that Invoker’s Skills?’
"From all the people in this little planet. Their dreams and fears fused at one."
"You. You are an Invoker?" Carter squinted his eyes.
"What gave you the idea?" The woman smiled. She was truly interested in him.
"It’s a hunch." He said.
Carter was bullshitting of course. He knew that because he was an Invoker once.
"How scary. The people of this planet are so desperate of a Savior that they made you real."
Carter stepped forward, "Explain yourself. Or else, I shall slay you."
"Too hotheaded. Probably because a lot of teenagers think of you this way."
The woman bowed, "Allow me to introduce myself. I am Belina Du Manac. I am... I was the Queen of Manaca before its destruction."
"Belina Du Manac died thousands of years ago." Carter said.
He heard of her before when he did his research about Manaca.
"And yet, I am here." The woman floated into the air. Gold dust trailed behind her.
"In the past, we were unable to protect ourselves from outsiders. You should know that because you have met one. The Cyber Runner."
"Go on." Carter lowered his sword.
"The only way for us to protect ourselves was to create our own Champion. Not a champion literally. But a Champion-rank Awaken. It’s the level above you and I."
"I know." Carter said.
"Oh?" Belina’s eyes glowed gold as she scanned Carter. "You already have a Champion Seed? Unbelievable."
She opened her mouth and form within her, a gold Champion Seed came out.
"I also have one. After years and years of collecting these people’s faith."
