Chapter 87: Waiting For Them to Arrive
Chapter 87: Waiting For Them to Arrive
Another pair of minutes passed, and Leon didn’t say anything regarding the idea of waiting. But it had finally started to get uneasy for them all.
"It’s unlike her to get this late," Selene muttered, arms crossed.
Leon’s head turned towards her, and then towards Valexeria. "Is this a usual thing? Or has it happened only this time?" He asked.
Valexeria shook her head slightly and said, "It’s not." Her voice was low, but coldness was buried inside of it.
He looked at her once, scanned her down, and then shifted his gaze back towards the portal.
But before they all could wait any longer, Mia’s voice filled the air. "Ughh!! I can’t wait any longer!!" She groaned.
She pouted, crossed her arms, and continued. "I never liked anything about them... but this was the only thing that I liked." She took a small pause, and the surroundings started to get filled with an anonymous fragrance.
The ground beneath their feet started to shake, and huge cracks appeared.
Leon’s eyes widened slightly as he staggered back a bit, his eyes moved towards Valexeria, who was standing intact in one place.
A vein bulged through her forehead as her mana surrounded her, creating a barrier that prevented her body from getting exposed to the shock waves.
A thought curled inside his mind, eyes remained fixed on her.
’Oh? Can I do this?’
He channeled his mana, allowing it to pass out through the pores of his body. His mana was so dense that the shockwaves started to get pushed backwards.
He didn’t even have any chance to create a barrier next to his body, his mana itself started to overpower Mia’s mana.
Other Tower Masters were using their mana to create a barrier, but the moment they looked at Leon’s mana, pushing Mia’s mana back—
The feeling of shock fell upon them.
Valexeria didn’t flinch, she just remained standing there with her eyes closed.
Selene’s eyes shifted towards Valexeria, looking at her with confusion in her eyes, but she didn’t mutter anything.
But Caelthas’ voice filled the air. "Mia, refrain yourself from letting your mana run amok." He stated.
Mia looked towards him and said, "Refrain myself after watching that kind of behavior by Seraphina."
He didn’t say anything for a while, but then stepped forward and continued. "What kind of behavior are you talking about?"
Leon’s eyebrow twitched as a thought rang inside his head.
’Is this guy dumb? Or is he trying to play dumb? We literally are waiting for a whole hour for Fire Tower now... and he’s asking that at this time?’
Her mana grew even more wild, branches that were comparable to treants shot out from the middle of the ground.
The ground shook violently, the apprentices of other Tower Masters weren’t able to withstand the amount of mana that was erupting through her body.
Even his mana started to run wild as it took the shape of frost. The temperature inside began to drop, and the frost crawled along the branches, slowly freezing them in place.
Only Vark remained standing, but he seemed to be in a dire situation himself. And the other apprentices were on the ground, struggling to even maintain their consciousness.
"Are you trying to mess with me!?" She asked, shouting.
He shook his head lightly and muttered, "I certainly am not." He took a small pause and then continued, "Seraphina and her apprentice arrived an hour before us. I got a letter from her."
Mia’s eyes widened, and the same reaction was visible on the faces of others.
Leon leaned slightly towards Valexeria as he whispered in her ear, "What does he mean by that?"
"Seraphina and Caelthas are cousins, that’s why he knew it."
"Cousins? But don’t they use two different kinds of elements?" Leon asked.
"Their family is a bit complicated, so let’s not initiate a conversation regarding that matter." She muttered.
He nodded slightly, agreeing to her statement, but then continued. "Why didn’t he inform us regarding that aspect before? We could’ve saved plenty of time." He said.
A faint smirk tugged at her lips as she said, "You think a fool like him will know what’s going on around him?" She asked.
He chuckled lightly. "I don’t want to interfere in that." He muttered.
His eyes shifted towards them. The surroundings had started to get filled with mana, which was thicker than before.
Leon’s eyes widened slightly, as he gagged. ’Wait...’
He raised his hand as he clutched his chest. ’Their pressure... it finally started to get a hold of me?’
A smirk tugged at his lips, and he covered it with his palm. ’So that’s the power level of Tower Masters?’
His mana began to leak from his pores, seeping out until it wrapped around him completely.
It was dense, so dense it forced the Tower Masters’ mana back by sheer pressure alone.
The color had changed, too. What was once familiar was now pitch-dark, as if the light inside it had been swallowed whole. His expressions started to turn even more wicked, exuding a strange aura.
"Don’t let that feeling take over you, master." Darian’s voice rang inside his mind.
Leon’s eyes suddenly started to widen as a thought curled inside his mind.
’What was that feeling that I just felt?’
He didn’t waste any time, as he started to try to control his mana.
He channeled the excessive mana back into the core, but failed.
A huge wave of black mana covered him, making it difficult for him to move.
’Ugh...’
His eyes shifted towards Valexeria and then the others.
’It seems like... they can’t see the mana wrapped around my body.’
His body started to ache, creating small wounds across his limbs.
"Ugh..." He groaned lightly, trying his best to control his voice.
He closed his eyes and took a deep breath. It felt as if he was trying to reach inside of his core.
