Chapter 86: Why Are You Here, Vark?
Chapter 86: Why Are You Here, Vark?
Leon kept looking at her for a while, but then said. "Why are we waiting in here?"
"Don’t you think that we should start moving now?" He asked, looking right into her eyes.
"Just wait for a while more." She said, coldly.
’She could’ve told me about it, but no.’
He let a sigh pass through his mouth, crossed his arms as he waited patiently.
After a while, a huge mana gate, which seemed to be a portal, appeared next to the gate from which they both came.
Leon’s gaze shifted towards them as he noticed that two men came out of there.
Valexeria didn’t say anything, and even her eyes remained closed.
He looked at her and thought. ’If she doesn’t mind them, why should I?’
A man in a light blue robe stepped forward, his silver hair catching the sunlight and gleaming faintly. His sharp features carried a calm, dignified aura.
Behind him walked a boy who looked no older than sixteen, dressed in blue robes lined with pale engravings that shimmered softly.
"Tch, you’re trying to act like we’re not here, aren’t you?" He scoffed.
Valexeria didn’t pay any attention to him, which made him get a bit more annoyed.
"Where are your manners, Dark Mage Tower Master Valexeria Nocturne?" He said.
She remained silent for a while, then said. "Aren’t you the one who disliked my presence, Ice Tower Master Aurelius Frostvain?"
A vein popped out through his forehead as he moved away from them, walking towards the spot of the Ice Tower, pretending as if no commotion happened between them.
Leon looked at the man’s back and thought.
’Such a weird guy. Was he begging for attention? We also have people like this in virtual reality?’
Before he could think any longer, another portal appeared, and two women walked out through it.
Tree branches curled around the frame of the portal, twisting naturally as if they had grown there for years. Small flowers bloomed between them, adding quiet color to the structure.
The woman walking in front wore a brown hat that matched her hair. A robe of the same shade draped over her frame, a warm smile resting naturally on her lips.
Behind her followed another girl in simple mage attire, a thin sheen of sweat on her face as she kept close.
The woman at the front said. "Long time no see, Valexeria."
’Casual speech?’ Leon thought as he got slightly taken aback by her speech.
Valexeria didn’t waste a second and replied. "Yes, it’s been a while, Mia."
’Her too? Hmm... they both might be friends.’
Valexeria and her chatted for a while, and during that short amount of time, Leon noticed the woman who was hiding behind Mia.
Her face was drenched in sweat, and even her posture didn’t seem confident.
’Another person who’s not confident, and is chosen by a key figure of the game.’ He shook his head lightly.
Mia walked towards the other corner of the place, which seemed to be the place of Earth Tower, as she waved towards Valexeria once before she left.
’Oh? She was the Tower Master of Earth Tower, huh?’
Before he could think any longer, the space next to the portals cracked.
Another portal formed, its frame etched with delicate water engravings. A woman stepped through first, a boy following close behind.
As they emerged, arcs of water spilled from the portal, splashing against the marble in a magnificent display.
The woman had deep blue hair and wore a robe of the same shade, golden engravings running along its edges. Her composed features reflected her calm, commanding demeanor.
Behind her walked a boy dressed in matching robes, his gaze fixed on the ground.
"Dark Tower Master, you’re looking like you’re in good shape." She said.
A smirk tugged at Valexeria’s lips as she replied. "I’ve to be, or else the ’great’ Water Tower Master will overshadow me easily, right Miss Selene?"
Selene smiled faintly and walked towards the spot of the Water Tower.
The boy who was standing before Selene steadily moved towards Leon.
"R-Ragnar," He muttered, almost a whisper.
Leon’s eyes widened slightly as he asked. "You know me?" His tone remained neutral.
The boy lifted his head up, trying his best to look into Leon’s eyes.
"Vark?" Leon said.{INFO: The teenage mage of Ragnar’s guild.}
"What are you doing here?" He asked
Vark scratched the back of his head as he smiled lightly. "Umm... I’m Selene’s apprentice." He said.
Leon’s eyes widened slightly, but he extended his hand as he kept it on Vark’s shoulder. "That’s a nice thing, I knew that you were a nice mage when you helped us defeat that undead." He said.
Vark chuckled nervously and said. "I’m not that good..."
"Don’t think like that, Vark."
Before they could continue chatting, Selene’s voice filled the air. "Come here, Vark." She said, her tone carried authority.
Vark got a bit taken aback, as he looked at her once, and then back at Leon. "I’m sorry, Ragnar, but I have to go now."
Leon didn’t say anything, just gave a small nod.
Vark quickly made his way towards the place where Selene was standing and stood beside her.
Leon and the others remained standing there for a while. Their eyes were fixed on the front.
It felt as if they were anticipating the arrival of the next tower, but no one came for a while.
A few minutes had passed since they all remained standing, and unease had covered the whole.
Leon’s arms were crossed, and a thought curled inside his mind. ’It looks like we’re waiting for Fire Tower, but no one’s coming.’
’It’s been a while now, are we going to remain standing?’
His head turned towards Valexeria, who was standing beside him. He simply nodded once, as if he was asking for an answer.
Her arms were crossed, and her usual calm demeanor remained intact. Her gaze moved towards him as she muttered. "There’s nothing we can do alone. We have to move as a group, which means we wait until the last tower arrives."
He let a sigh pass through his mouth as he closed his eyes partially.
’Well, after that assessment... I know that we’ll wait here for a while more.’
