Chapter 80: Everyone Has Their Own Secrets
Chapter 80: Everyone Has Their Own Secrets
Raiden felt a soul-shattering pressure fall upon his body as his breathing hitched. He had only felt this kind of pressure once when his Aunt Ruby showed him her true bloodlust.
But Raiden wasn’t bearing the worst of it. It was Kael and his Terran who were the target of it.
Raiden saw Kael’s whole face turn pale blue, as the air itself seemed to cut him out. It looked like he was rejected by the natural forces of the world itself, as his bones started creaking, and a few snapping sounds rang out in the air.
Before Old Man Sol could go any further, another old man appeared in front of Kael, wearing a plain and simple suit, relieving him of the pressure as he started to take big gasps of air on the ground, with fear clouding his eyes.
"Is this how the Solaris clan works nowadays? Beat the young one, and the old one jumps out? If so, my Goldwyn clan is ready to play this game with you all the way to the end." The old man talked as pressure started radiating off him.
"Heh, I was just teaching him some manners and discipline that your clan seem to have forgotten to instil in him." Old Man Sol fired back sharply as his body started to radiate even more power.
"We don’t need outsiders to educate our young clan members; we can do it ourselves."
Bang!!
Their invisible powers clashed in the middle of the stage, as the air and the world itself started distorting, as if it was about to shatter from it.
"Grandpa, Cinder!! Please help Cinder." Morgana’s desperate voice rang out, breaking the stalemate between them.
"Humph." Old Man Sol didn’t say anything, just turning around and walking towards Cinder before putting his hand on her and channelling his powers.
"I am really sorry, Morgana, it’s my fault that he got hurt so much. If only I hadn’t run off and watched your match, it would have never come to this." The old man talked, his voice full of remorse and guilt.
He had gotten carried away while catching up with his old friends, missing this match. Otherwise, how could he have let Cinder get so hurt under his watch?
A golden flame covered Cinder’s whole body as he started using his clan’s powers to heal it.
In front of their very eyes, the golden flame started fixing all the small injuries on her body, as they closed in a matter of seconds. The flame went even further, as it attached itself to the broken body parts, forming new ones using the golden flames as a new crown, right leg and a new wing formed on her body.
But instead of improving, Old Man Sol’s expression became grim as he focused on healing her.
The golden flames started to fade from Cinder’s body as a new crown jewel and right leg appeared on her body, but her left wing was still missing.
"Grandpa, Cinder’s wing is..." Morgana asked shakily, her voice on the verge of sobbing.
"Don’t worry. It will be fine. But it requires more things, which are back home. She will be completely fine soon, don’t worry." Old Man Sol’s voice called out warmly as he assured her.
"Phew, thank god. She is going to be okay. Cinder is going to be okay..." Morgana let out a sigh of relief; she didn’t know she was holding before she fainted on the spot.
Old Man Sol caught her gently and caressed her head. He didn’t tell her the full story.
Cinder wing was considered as all but gone at this stage, and he couldn’t heal something like that. The only way to regenerate it was to awaken the deeply hidden phoenix bloodline inside Cinder’s blood as she went through a rebirth when growing from Bronze to Silver, which was very hard to do.
But she didn’t need to know all these details. It was not her place to worry about stuff like this. It was his duty as a guardian to do so.
"Are you Raiden Ashford?" Meanwhile, Raiden found himself facing the old man in a suit in front of him, who put subtle pressure on him.
"Yes, I am, and you are?" Raiden answered calmly, not showing that he was feeling anything.
"Do you know anyone from ’The True Capital’?" The old man narrowed his eyes as he glanced at him, with tremors hidden in his voice.
"The True Capital?? What’s that?" Raiden asked curiously.
"Nothing. Nothing at all." The old man didn’t say anything. If the boy didn’t know about it, it was not his place to give him any information about it.
If he ended up saying something he was not supposed to, his whole family would vanish from the face of this planet tomorrow.
After throwing another deep glance at him, he grabbed Kael and his Terra Beast effortlessly with one hand and vanished from the stage.
’Huh, wonder what that old man wants? Maybe revenge for humiliating that golden-haired bastard? Are these powerful old men so free nowadays, picking on the young ones without shame? Also, what is The True Capital?’
Raiden mused while scratching his head.
"Raiden, come here for a moment, boy." Old Man Sol called out, snapping him out of his thoughts.
He jogged towards him, who was carrying an exhausted Morgana on his back, while holding a sleeping Cinder in his hands.
"Thank you so much for your help." Old Man Sol spoke in a heartfelt tone as he tried to bow towards him.
"Hey, hey, hey, what are you doing?! I didn’t do anything at all, old man. Why are you bowing towards me?" Raiden hurried to hold the old man up.
"Cinder’s injuries were clearly stabilised by someone even before I arrived here. It was you, wasn’t it?" Old Man Sol called out, making Raiden stiffen in his place.
His system upgrade was his biggest secret, something he couldn’t let anyone find out about.
"Relax. I am not asking you how you did it. Everyone in this world has their own secrets. I am just saying thank you. You are now an eternal friend of Solaris Clan, and no one will dare to bother you as long as I am alive."
Raiden relaxed after hearing his words.
"That’s not necessary. Morgana is my friend. I would have done it with or without the favour." Raiden waved his hand as he spoke.
"I know, which is why we are so grateful to you. Don’t refuse it."
Hearing the old man’s sincere tone, Raiden nodded his head.
"Thank you. But I also have another favour to ask of you." The old man continued to speak, as his voice turned to one full of anger.
"Beat that sonofabitch into the ground for me!!"
