Chapter 688: Open

Sensing the power from his torture room, Gao Ming had no idea if having Gui Yuan stay in his heart was a good thing or a bad thing.

The meat fragrance dissipated. Gao Ming hid the presence of the God of Flesh and Blood. He was about to thank the factory manager when the black dog in the shadow sensed the danger. The wish factory didn’t return to normal after Gui Yuan’s departure. Something wiggled in the dark. Many cars arrived silently at the factory.

“I think my eldest uncle is finally making his move.” Wang Jie stood beside Gao Ming and the leader of Team One. He looked happy.

“Manager Qu, what is the meaning of this?” The leader of team one demanded darkly.

“Wang Jie’s family wishes for you to join them as guests. It’s rare for you to come to South City. We have to be good hosts.” The manager knew that Wang Jie’s eldest uncle had been monitoring the wish room. However, watching the scene through a camera and in person were different experiences. He controlled the remote in his pocket and kept sending messages. He hoped the people from the South City Investigation Centre would calm down.

“I have something else to attend to. However, I’ll be sure to visit next time.” Gao Ming moved through the crowd. The people in grey didn’t dare to stop him. When he reached the gate, the headlights of all the cars came on. The investigators were armed and ready. Their cars carried more than enough cursed items to destroy a small sick zone.

“Is this how the South City welcomes its guests?” Gao Ming had been trying to deal with the investigation centre headquarters since his return to Han Hai. He never cared about the others. Every investigator who met Gao Ming’s eyes would subconsciously look away. They were not facing a person but an endless abyss. Gao Ming walked to the leader of team one’s car, but no one dared to move.

“Hurry up. We will visit the other bigger sick zones.”

…After two days and one night, the car with the sign of the Xin Lu Investigation Centre flew down the road. The tired leader of Team One guzzled the energy drink. His eyes were red as he grabbed the steering wheel.

“We’re here!”

The silhouette of the building materialised. A new city appeared in Gao Ming’s sight. It was situated at the Northern Port. It was Noah’s Ark, built by the headquarters. There was no anomaly or shadow at this place. Even the sun loved this land. It cut through the clouds and showered the land with warmth. After meeting several Dream Ghosts, Gao Ming hurried to many sick zones. He reached negotiations with many Big Ghosts. When he was ready, he and the leader of Team One reached the last station: Han Hai Investigation Centre Headquarters.

When he was still far away, Gao Ming sensed a gaze on him. Gao Ming didn’t plan to go into hiding. He told the leader of Team One to drive openly forward. The car and the light of the new sun arrived at the new city. All six paths to enter the new city were closed. This was the first time this had happened since the new city was built.

Three paths were for normal citizens. Two paths were for the headquarters, and one last path was a direct path to the research centre. Normally, at least half of the paths would be available. However, this morning, the defence members received orders to shut down the entire city!

“Your name precedes you.” After the leader of Team One got out of the car, he leaned on the door and lit a cigarette. He had worked for the headquarters for a long time, and he had never seen the headquarters react so ‘violently’.

Sitting in the backseat, Gao Ming slowly opened his shut eyes. Suppressed by endless curses, the strange symbols in his eyes appeared to be oaths from different ghosts. Gao Ming gained a lot from visiting the sick zones. He not only represented the horror game players but also the many sick zones. Sunlight shone on the new city. Gao Ming opened the car door and glanced at the sky. The entire Han Hai was covered in dark clouds. The only ray of light settled on the headquarters.

“Gao Ming!”

A small door opened on the special emergency path. Jing Tuoshen walked out alone. He looked genderless but impossibly beautiful. He had a vicious heart. “I didn’t think we’d meet like this after our separation in the black fog. The distance between us is now humans and Gods.”

Gao Ming had the power of the Dream Ghost, which should be a secret. It was a mystery how Jing Tuoshen knew about it.

“Bring me to your captain. I want to discuss a cooperation with him, a cooperation that involves Han Hai’s fate.” If possible, Gao Ming would have charged directly into the investigation headquarters. However, the current Han Hai couldn’t sustain another infighting.

“Our captain has been waiting for three days.” Jing Tuoshen was very polite. “Please come with me.”

Jing Tuoshen led Gao Ming to the deep-sea port.

“The new city has a seventh path that is meant for special guests. Actually, this is the first time we’ll be using it.” Jing Tuoshen controlled the white band. A shadow appeared in the water. The cabin opened. Two old friends appeared before Gao Ming. One was Bai Feng’s son, Bai Xiao, and the other was Gao Ming’s old roommate, Zuo Jun. Their identities were different from before. Their presence was far more oppressive.

“More than several thousand investigators had accepted transformations by the Divine Ghosts. Only five people survived until the ninth stage. These are two of them.” Jing Tuoshen walked ahead. “Come on.”

The giant shadow was an elevator that was built underwater. Once one was inside it, one could witness the majesty underwater. However, that was not what shocked Gao Ming. As they descended, the scenery outside the glass window changed. The sea water became thick black mist. The fish became strange corpses.

“Han Hai is fake. The shadow world is the real grave. The headquarters is more important than you might imagine. We are built between the real and the fake.” Jing Tuoshen didn’t hide anything and showed everything to Gao Ming.

Eventually, the elevator stopped. The door behind Gao Ming opened, and the lights came on.

“Welcome to Han Hai Investigation Centre Headquarters.” Jing Tuoshen bowed.

The passage was decorated with symbols that represented death and rebirth. It was solemn and serious. There were occasional sounds of gears and metal. This undersea fortress was the headquarter’s true appearance.

Gao Ming walked down the complicated passages and passed by many labs with insane experiments. His heart raced. The God of Flesh and Blood howled in his heart. He sensed a scary presence approaching.
