Hold On Mr.! Your Sweetheart is a Real Queen

Chapter 818: Awake?

Chapter 818: Awake?

After sitting in a taxi for a whole hour, Charlotte Smith and Janet Madison finally arrived at Capital Hospital.

The hospital was huge, and there were even more people. Charlotte looked at the endless line as well as the scorching sun above her, and slowly exhaled.

Janet quickly objected and said to her, "You queue up; I’ll watch you from the side, I won’t run away."

Charlotte glanced at her coldly and said, "Don’t force me to beat you up here."

Janet paused, looked at Charlotte’s arms, which weren’t much stronger than hers, and quickly regained her spirit.

"If you hit me here, I’ll have to call the police."

Charlotte coldly curled her lips: "I’d like to see who comes to save you."

Janet pursed her lips. In this unfamiliar place, she couldn’t guarantee anyone would help if she cried for help.

She walked over and stood beside Charlotte in line, looking somewhat angry, pouting unhappily.

Charlotte ignored her, standing at the end of the line with her arms crossed, appearing indifferent.

They queued until almost noon before they got a consultation slip for the attending doctor, but the appointment was scheduled for the afternoon.

Janet was starving, so after getting the slip, she immediately dragged Charlotte to a nearby restaurant.

The eateries near the hospital were packed with people. Janet randomly chose one with fewer people, and said to Charlotte, "Wait here, I’ll get us some food."

Charlotte looked at her in silence and didn’t say anything.

"Don’t look at me like that, I won’t run away; my passport is with you, where could I possibly go?"

Charlotte said, "Go ahead."

Janet breathed a sigh of relief, smiled at her, and went across to order food.

Charlotte poured herself a glass of water, quietly waiting for Janet to return with the order.

Eventually, a large crowd streamed into the restaurant.

The overwhelming noise and various smells made her feel nauseated. After waiting for about ten minutes, Janet hadn’t returned. Charlotte had a premonition, so she went out to ask the proprietress and learned that Janet had already left some time ago.

It wasn’t entirely unexpected... If it were her, having a chance to escape from a kidnapper, she’d probably leave immediately too.

However...

Charlotte thought about the passport and identification left by Janet, considered a moment, and decided to leave them with the proprietress.

Regardless of whether Janet could be rescued, she was now irrelevant to Charlotte.

Charlotte ate lunch, then went into the hospital to see the doctor.

The gynecology department was mostly visited by women coming for pregnancy check-ups, usually accompanied by their husbands or boyfriends. Looking at the faces filled with anticipation for new life, Charlotte felt a bit envious.

Her number was quite late, but Charlotte wasn’t in a hurry. She sat in a nearby waiting area, until around three in the afternoon when the nurse finally called her number. She breathed a sigh of relief, just about to stand, when everything suddenly got dizzy.

No, I must not pass out here...

Charlotte struggled to stay conscious, but couldn’t prevent her vision from gradually going black.

The startled cries came from the queue frightened by her collapse, and nurses rushed toward her from the station not far away...

She couldn’t see anything.

...

Unsure of how long it had been, she slowly awakened from the darkness.

A figure standing by the window turned around and asked her, "Awake?"
