Chapter 90
Chapter 90
Annette returned to her apartment while chatting pleasantly with Connor.
The next day, Connor left Akron for New York for a business trip.
He didn't come back for three days, and Annette felt lonely.
The loneliness came from the depths of her soul.
In fact, that was something she feared the most.
Annette dared not to accept Connor for a reason. She was afraid that one day after she got used to having him around if he hurt her, she wouldn't survive the trauma.
She was afraid that the pain would kill her.
She turned on her phone and read the headlines of entertainment news these days.
None of them had clarified their relationship.
The rumors about Connor and Daphne were heating up.
Daphne was advertising her latest drama. When she was interviewed, the reporters asked about her and Connor, yet she only smiled and did not answer.
Her attitude stirred media curiosity.
In their press release, almost all of them used the same sentence. "Connor and Daphne tacitly admit their relationship."
Annette sighed.
If Connor didn't have a relationship with Daphne, why didn't he explain it?
Annette threw her phone aside.
It bothered her and she was a little upset.
Connor was taking over her heart bit by bit.
Annette reached out and pressed her chest gently.
"Annette, don't go any further. You are standing by a cliff and you may be smashed into pieces if you aren't careful."
In the morning, Annette reached the entrance to Werewolf University.
Jessica came to her again.
They looked at each other with unfriendly gazes.
Jessica held a pair of sunglasses in her hand and walked to Annette in her high heels.
"Are the rumors about Daphne and Alpha Connor true?"
Annette looked at her coldly and said, "Why should I know?"
Jessica put on a disdainful smile. "So? Is he tired of you already? I told you, a woman having nothing but a pretty face is not worthy of Alpha Connor. It seems that Alpha Connor has abandoned you."
Annette's eyes turned cold. She stepped forward and said, "Jessica, mind your words. Don't disgust others again and again."
Jessica smiled disdainfully, "Are you angry because I am right?
She put on her sunglasses and said, "Just wait and see. You and Daphne are no match for me. Connor will be mine."
She turned and walked to her car.
Just as she was about to get into the car, Annette stepped forward and blocked in front of the car door.
Her disdainful eyes were fixed on Jessica, and she sneered. "You will never get Connor. You are not worthy of him. If you don't believe me, just wait and see."
With that, Annette walked toward the school.
Jessica stared fiercely at Annette's back and was determined to prove it to Annette.
Jessica got into the car and mind linked Austin.
"Austin, have you thought about what I told you last time?"
Austin said with displeasure, "There are so many werewolves in the world. Why do you have to choose him?"
"If Annette can have him, why can't I?"
Austin was silent for a while.
A few days ago, Jessica came to him and said that she wanted to be Connor's mate.
At that time, he scolded her harshly.
However, Jessica was stubborn. She even threatened that if no one helped her, she would go to Connor on her own. If so, the entire Black Thorn Pack would be disgraced.
At first, Austin was happy to hear the rumors about Connor and Daphne.
It was a good thing that Connor could get his attention away from Annette.
But now, Jessica was going to cause trouble.
Austin frowned and asked Jessica, "What do you want to do?"
"Since Daphne dares to seduce Alpha Connor, I want her reputation to be ruined in the entertainment industry."
"Nonsense! It is not Daphne's fault, but Connor's. A lot of women are attracted to him."
"I don't care. I'll make those women know that they are not qualified to think of the man I fancy."
After that, Jessica ended the mind link.
Austin was annoyed. He mind linked Jessica again, but Jessica didn't respond to him.
He sighed in his heart. As the Alpha of the Black Thorn Pack, how would Lance have such a foolish daughter like Jessica?
In the afternoon, Austin called Annette and said that he wanted to have dinner with her tonight.
Annette got off work and got into his car after she left school.
After they ordered the dishes in the restaurant, Austin asked, "How is it going? Have you adapted to the work at school?"
She raised her eyebrows proudly. "Of course. I adapted to it long ago."
Austin smiled, "I was worried that you might be busy with work recently, so I didn't dare to come to you."
Annette smiled and said nothing.
"By the way, I read the news about Connor and that female celebrity. Have you been in contact with him recently?"
Austin said tentatively.
As he brought up this topic, Annette felt somehow sick of continuing with it.
After all, Jessica had just come to her in the morning.
Annette did not speak. Austin explained, "Don't get me wrong. Lately, I just couldn't get Jessica out of my hair."
Annette asked, "What did she do again?"
"She said that she wanted to be Connor's mate and to ease the relationship between the Black Thorn Pack and the Blood Moon Pack." Austin sighed, "You probably can't imagine her expression when she said that. If she wasn't my sister, I would have slapped her to wake her up."
Annette lowered her eyes and smiled.
Austin looked at Annette with affection.
"Why are you laughing? At that time, you were so close to Connor. You knew about his purpose and that he was unreliable. I told you to stay away from him, but you didn't listen. Do you know how worried I was during that time?
"Fortunately, Connor doesn't pay much attention to you now. Stay away from him in the future, understand?" Austin warned.
