His Hybrid Mate

Chapter 88

Chapter 88

Connor stayed at Annette's house and didn't leave. The next morning, when the alarm clock rang, Annette reached out her hand and turned it off.

She got up and went to the living room. The sound of rustling water kept coming from the bathroom.

Then, the door of the bathroom opened.

Connor was wrapped in Annette's bath towel with a mickey mouse pattern on it.

As he dried his hair, he looked at her and asked, "You are up."

Annette shifted her gaze away from his six-pack abs.

As her gaze moved up, she saw a large bruise on Connor's shoulder.

She frowned and said, "Your shoulder is bruised. I wonder which part of your sentence is true and which part is false?"

Connor was calm. "Everything I said to you is true. I am indeed injured, but it is not so serious."

He pointed to the kitchen and asked, "What's for breakfast?"

  Annette snorted. "Nothing!"

She turned around and entered the kitchen with a sullen face.

During breakfast, Annette thought of something. "What do you think of Jessica?"

  "Jessica? Who?"

Annette replied, "The daughter of the Alpha of the Black Thorn Pack. Haven't you met Jessica before?"

"What do you want to ask?"

"Well, from a man's perspective, what do you think of her?" Annette asked.

Connor said without thinking, "She had plastic surgery. The way she speaks is pretentious."

Annette said in surprise, "How did you know that she had plastic surgery?"

"Her face looks stiff. Can't you tell?"

Annette chuckled. "It seems that you don't think much of her."

"Of course. Why would you bring her up?" Connor shrugged and said.

Annette shook her head and smiled, "It's nothing."

For some reason, her bad mood had completely gone.

She told Connor not to ask people to bring her lunch anymore.

So, Annette could finally have lunch with her colleagues.

Just as she and Sara sat down, Kyle came over with a tray.

He placed it on the table and sat beside Annette. Annette turned to look at him and frowned.

  Sara was also embarrassed.

Kyle ignored Annette's gaze and said as he ate, "Have you seen the news last night?"

Annette looked away and did not say anything.

"That is the real life of a rich man. If I did something wrong, I would apologize and change myself. As for some men, their lives are simply filled with fun," Kyle continued.

Annette asked coldly, "What do you want to say?"

"Does he really think of you as his mate? If so, he will not show up with another woman in public. If you don't want to get hurt, you should reject him as soon as possible. Otherwise, you will regret it."

Annette sneered. "Thank you for your concern. But it is my business."

Annette stood up, picked up her tray, and walked to an empty table.

  Sara followed her.

Kyle walked to Annette. He grabbed her wrist and pulled her toward the door.

Annette said angrily, "Kyle, what are you doing?"

Kyle pulled her out of the cafeteria.

"Why were you so ruthless to me? Why?" He shouted at Annette.

"Kyle, I said that we can't be friends. You are just a stranger to me now. I don't think there's anything wrong with that."

"I know that I was wrong. Anyone would make mistakes. Can't you just give me a chance to make up for my mistakes? I checked up last night. Alpha Connor took Daphne to Hawaii before. Do you think that they only went there to enjoy the beach? Why are you so indifferent to me and so nice to him? Can't you see that I'm the one who truly cares about you?"

Annette was silent for a moment. She said, "There were rumors about Connor and Daphne before I met him. You are different. You were my mate but you cheated on me."

"I was drunk that day. I didn't know what happened. I was lying beside her when I woke up. What could I do? I also hate myself for what I did," Kyle said painfully.

"Really? After that day, we met at the school gate. You and Lena got out of the car side by side, and you were holding an umbrella for her. If you felt sorry for me, you would keep your distance from Lena instead of being so close to her. The scene of you two together was hurtful to me. Don't you know it?"

Annette said and turned to leave.

She returned to her office and checked the news about Connor and Daphne on the Internet.

There was lots of gossip news about them.

One of them mentioned that Connor and Daphne had matched rings on their pinkies.

Annette recalled that Connor never had any rings on his fingers.

Was it a photo from before?

Before she could finish reading, her phone rang.

Seeing that it was a call from Fiona, she picked it up. "Hello."

"Come to my office in half an hour."

Annette was annoyed and thought that Kyle was indeed a troublemaker.

She went to Fiona's office and knocked on the door.

Fiona's serious voice sounded inside. "Come in."

Annette was stunned the moment she walked in the room. What was Connor doing here?

Connor looked at her with a faint smile.

Annette nodded at him and walked to Fiona's desk, feeling upset.

"Fiona, you want to see me."

"I have something to tell you, but I'm afraid that I can't make it clear enough, so I asked Mr. Norman over," Fiona raised her head and said.

  Annette kept silent.

Fiona said, "Mr. Norman said that you are his mate. You know what werewolves should do after they find their mates, right?"

"Fiona, just cut to the chase. It is not your style to beat around the bush," Annette said.
