His Hybrid Mate

Chapter 78

Chapter 78

Connor looked at Marcus calmly and said, "Go home."

  "But..."

"I told you to go home."

Marcus glanced at Annette and snorted. He slammed the door and left.

Annette felt a little sad for being blamed by him.

Jessica said innocently, "Alpha Connor, I'm sorry. I shouldn't have come here."

Before Connor could say anything, Annette shouted, "Enough. You should leave."

Looking at Annette's attitude, Jessica pretended to be hurt. She sighed and stood up. "Annette, I know you don't want to see me, but we are family after all."

  Annette shouted, "Just leave!"

Jessica sighed and walked toward the door.

She opened the door and thought of something. "I met Mr. Goodman who I introduced to you the day before yesterday. He asked me why I hadn't picked up his call recently. He said that if he did something wrong, he could correct it. He told you not to ignore him. Annette, you are too stubborn. If you don't like him, you should refuse him directly."

After that, she nodded pitifully at Connor and left.

Outside the private room, the corners of Jessica's mouth curled into a sneer.

She thought, 'Alpha Connor knows Annette's identity, but Marcus doesn't.

It is great news. Alpha Connor knows that Annette is a member of the Black Thorn Pack and still keeps in contact with her.

It seems that the identity of the member of the Black Thorn Pack is nothing to Alpha Connor.

As long as I chased Annette away, I would have a chance.'

Annette sat for a moment. She then stood up and said, "I'll be leaving."

Connor's voice was melodious. He said, "Where are you going?"

Annette took a deep breath and said, "I'm going home."

"Go home? To your place, or the Black Thorn Pack?"

Annette suddenly looked up at him and said, "You said that in your eyes, I am not a member of the Black Thorn Pack. Since that's the case, why do you ask such a question?"

"You are wronged, and I am afraid that you will go to the Black Thorn Pack to fight with someone"

Annette paused for a moment and said, "I'm not that bored. They can't hurt me."

She picked up her bag and was about to leave.

  Connor grabbed her wrist.

  Annette looked down at him.

Connor smiled, "I'll take you back after having a candlelight dinner."

  "I'm not in the mood."

"Why? Because of Jessica? Do you need me to send someone to beat her up and help you vent your anger?"

  Annette frowned. "No, please don't."

"Then, just sit down. Marcus left, and if you also leave, I'll have to eat alone.

Annette sat down. Connor handed her a glass of wine. "Do you want a drink?"

She shook her head firmly. "No."

"Don't worry. Just one glass. I won't get you drunk. After all, I have witnessed what you would do after getting drunk."

Annette hesitated for a moment. She took the glass but did not drink.

Connor rubbed her head gently since she frowned.

"She is just the daughter of the Alpha of the Black Thorn Pack, yet you admit defeat and feel upset?"

"It is not because of her," Annette said, lowering her head.

"Then, Marcus' attitude hurt you, right?"

Annette's heart tightened. Indeed, she felt hurt.

"He doesn't know the inside story, so you don't have to pay attention to him."

"But in his eyes, I am a member of the Black Thorn Pack."

Annette thought of Marcus' relaxed smile in front of her in the past and his hostile look just now.

She thought that her identity had hurt Marcus.

Connor took a sip of his wine. He stared at her depressed face for a moment and said, "It seems that you need comfort now."

Annette looked at him. Just as her eyes met his, he leaned forward and kissed her lips.

She tightened her grip on the wine glass.

Connor let go of her but their faces were still close.

His breath brushed past her cheek, and his voice rang out. "How does the red wine taste?"

Annette gulped nervously. "I haven't drunk it yet."

  "I'll help you."

  Connor kissed her again.

The fragrance of the red wine in his mouth filled Annette's mouth.

Annette suddenly understood what he meant.

Connor whispered in her ear, "How does it taste?"

He then let go of her.

The blush on Annette's face remained.

"You don't have to worry about Marcus. His opinion is irrelevant to my decision."

"Since the two packs are at enmity, you'd better stay away from me."

"So? Are you considering yourself as one of them?" Connor asked.

Annette shook her head. "I don't mean that. I just don't want to hurt your family. Marcus cares a lot about you. I don't want to be the one who stays in between you guys."

"If he cared about me, he shouldn't have made things difficult for me. Alright, don't talk about it. Let's enjoy our dinner."

Annette did not say anything and started eating.

Connor took another sip of the wine and said, "I comforted you. Do you have anything to tell me?"

  Annette frowned. "What?"

  "About Mr. Goodman."

"I have nothing to say." Annette shrugged. "I can't even remember his full name. Moreover, I didn't meet him voluntarily. The Alpha of the Black Thorn Pack made me see him. Is this enough?"

"Alpha Lance wants him to be your mate?" Connor's tone was mocking. He asked, "Which pack is he from?"

Annette shook her head and said, "I don't remember. I met him for less than five minutes, and he left."

"You only met for five minutes, yet he wanted to contact you. It means that he is satisfied with Alpha Lance's proposal. What are you going to do?"

"No matter what he thinks, I won't contact him anyway. I will keep a distance from him."
