Chapter 76
Chapter 76
Kyle left the office building angrily.
Annette entered the office, and her three colleagues looked at her at the same time.
She smiled awkwardly and said, "Good morning."
"Darling, it's late. You almost got late."
Annette smiled embarrassedly. "I've been tired for the past two days. I can't get up early in the morning."
Sara smiled, "You have just begun to work. You will adapt to it after a few days."
In the morning, Annette organized all the students' information.
At noon, Sara asked, "Annette, do you have an appointment at noon?"
"No, Sara. Why?"
"Would you like to have lunch with me?" Sara waved her phone.
Annette nodded and said, "Sure."
She stood up and went downstairs with Sara.
Just as they reached the entrance of the office building, a middle-aged woman got out of the car.
She walked to Annette with two lunch boxes in her hands and said respectfully, "Ms. Hall."
Annette asked in surprise, "Why are you here?"
The middle-aged woman was Connor's chef.
"I'm here to deliver lunch to you."
The woman handed the lunch box to Annette.
"Ms. Hall, keep the lunch box with you. I'll fetch them when I come tomorrow."
Would she come again tomorrow?
The colleagues who passed by all looked at Annette. Sensing their gazes, Annett said hurriedly, "Thank you. You can go back."
Sara smiled, "It seems that I have to go by myself."
Annette said guiltily, "I'm sorry, Sara."
"Don't say that. What a great surprise. It makes life more fun." Sara patted Annette on the shoulder and said, "Go back to the office. I'll see you later."
Annette nodded. She called Connor when she returned to the office.
Connor picked up the phone. His voice was pleasant. "Annette, I'm glad you called."
Annette didn't know what to say. "Are you planning to send me lunch every day in the future?"
"Yes. You did not have lunch yesterday, did you?" Connor said.
"That was because something came up yesterday. I came back late," Annette explained.
"Don't refuse me. I have my motivation. If you had the lunch I prepared, I could have the dinner you cooked at ease." With that, Connor hung up the phone.
Annette felt that things might get out of control.
It seemed that Connor wasn't going to give up until he achieved his goal.
But it was impossible for them to be together in the future.
The more Annette spent time with him, the more she would owe him.
She wondered how she could make him give up on her.
Annette thought that only time would give her an answer.
She believed that one day, the high and mighty Connor would be tired of what he was doing.
A month passed quickly. Annette instructed the students before the holiday. When she came out of the classroom, Marcus chased after her.
"Annette."
Annette stood still and looked at him. "Marcus, what's wrong?"
"Someone will pick me up later. Come with me," Marcus said.
"Where are you going?"
"I'll go for a meal. Connor asked me to bring you along."
As they were talking, two girls walked over.
One of them walked to Annette and said shyly, "Annette, you said that you would introduce me to a part-time job. Can you help me contact them?"
Annette nodded and said, "Okay, I'll send you the owner's number of the coffee shop later."
The girl looked at Marcus shyly. "Marcus, nice to see you."
Marcus nodded indifferently without even looking at her.
The girl said awkwardly, "Annette, bye."
Annette nodded. "Bye."
After the two girls left, Annette kicked Marcus' calf and said, "She is greeting you."
Marcus was in pain. He hissed and said, "Luna, why did you kick me? I will tell Connor about it."
"Don't change the topic. The girl greeted you just now. Why did you ignore her?"
"I nodded to her. Many girls in the school want to greet me."
"Are you showing off?"
Marcus smiled, "I don't mean it, but it is the truth."
After that, he accompanied Annette to the office building to get her bag. At the entrance, Kyle happened to go downstairs, and they met again.
Seeing a male student beside Annette, Kyle was jealous.
He said coldly, "Annette, I heard that you are popular among male students. It seems that it is true. I just want to remind you. Since you are a student instructor, pay more attention to your behavior. Don't cross the line and set bad examples for others."
Seeing Kyle humiliate Annette, Marcus was displeased and stood in front of Annette.
He glanced sideways at Kyle. "Who are you? That's very impolite of you."
Kyle looked coldly at Marcus and said, "As her ex-boyfriend, I am simply giving her some good advice."
Marcus said coldly, "Well, in that case, you shouldn't bother her anymore since you are no longer her boyfriend. Only idiots do that."
"You're being ungrateful," Kyle gritted his teeth and said.
Marcus wanted to argue with Kyle, but Annette grabbed his wrist and stopped him. "Marcus, forget it. Wait for me at the school gate. I will meet you there soon."
"No. What if he bullies you after I leave?"
"No one can bully me in the office building. Just go."
Marcus glared at Kyle and said, "Stay away from Annette, or I won't let you off."
After he left, Annette ignored Kyle and stepped up the stairs.
Kyle grabbed her wrist and said, "Can't you live without a man? In that case, when you were with me, how did you pretend for so long?"
Annette looked back at him in disappointment. "Kyle, do you feel better when humiliating me?"
"Yes. When I think of your betrayal and lies, humiliating you will make me feel better."
