His Hybrid Mate

Chapter 75

Chapter 75

"Starving?" Connor frowned as he looked at Annette. He asked, "How come? Didn't you have lunch?"

Annette smiled bitterly and said, "No. Something came up."

Connor asked as he drove, "What happened?"

"It's nothing. One of my students wasn't feeling well, so I took her to the hospital this morning. When we came back, her parents were here, so I didn't have time to eat."

  Connor sighed.

Annette glanced at him. "I'm the one who is starving. Why are you sighing?"

"It pains me to know you are starving. What's wrong with that?"

Annette looked at him. She felt warm inside, but she still pretended not to care and said, "That doesn't change the fact that I'm so hungry. So, just keep driving, alright?"

Connor shook his head with a smile and sped up.

He took her to his villa.

Annette's arrival immediately turned the chiefs of the Norman family into panic.

She felt quite guilty. After all, it was already late.

On the contrary, Connor, who was next to her, crossed his legs and watched TV in a comfortable posture.

One of the servants brought them some fruits.

Dwayne walked over and said, "Alpha Connor, Ms. Hall, the food is ready."

Connor looked at Annette and said, "Come on."

When they came to the dining table, Annette was slack-jawed.

The table was full of sumptuous dishes, including roasted turkey, steak, a large bowl of cream-roasted vegetables, and even Australian lobsters.

She swallowed and looked at Connor.

He winked at her and said, "Take a seat and enjoy."

  Annette sat down, embarrassed.

Dwayne said, "Ms. Hall, we didn't know about your preferences, and Alpha Connor told us to prepare the meal with more variety and smaller portions. If there is anything that is not to your taste, I will take it away."

"The food is great. Thank you, everyone."

"It will be our pleasure, Ms. Hall."

"Dwayne, you may take everyone out now." Connor knew that Annette didn't like being surrounded by so many people when eating, so he sent everyone out.

As soon as they went out, Annette immediately said, "Why did you have so many dishes prepared? This is too much for you and me."

Connor laughed heartily. "Just dig in."

He only ate a few mouthfuls before he received a call and went to the study.

By the time he came out of the study, Annette was already full. She had her bag on her shoulder, and it looked like she was leaving.

Connor asked in confusion, "Are you done already?"

"Yes. It's getting late, and I should go back," Annette said.

"It's a meal for two. How could you leave just like that? I haven't finished eating yet. Come and join me."

As he spoke, he walked to the table and sat down.

Annette said helplessly, "The last bus will leave in ten minutes."

"Perfect. Then, you will stay here tonight," Connor said immediately.

"I'll pass," Annette rejected his proposal.

Connor looked at her and said, "Your objection is invalid. You have to stay. I just got a call on a very important cooperation case, and Hari will be here later to assist me. Why don't you help me together with him? Many hands make light work."

Only then did Annette take off her bag. She nodded and said, "Alright then."

More than half an hour later, Hari arrived.

He had a stack of documents in his arms, and the three of them went to Connor's study.

They split the work and each found a comfortable place to start working.

Meanwhile, Dwayne had the chiefs prepare some night snacks for them.

They worked from nine o'clock until one o'clock in the morning.

Connor was sitting at the desk. When he looked up, he saw Annette prone on the coffee table, sleeping like a sweet kitten.

He walked over, slowly took out the documents under her arms, and handed the documents to Hari.

Then he gently picked her up.

  Hari quickly opened the door.

Seeing Connor carry Annette upstairs, Hari clicked his tongue a few times.

The next morning, Annette woke up in a daze.

She looked around at the unfamiliar room and sat up abruptly.

She thought, 'Isn't this Connor's room?'

Hearing the sound of running water coming from the bathroom, she felt like she was dreaming. She had no idea when she had come upstairs.

At the sight of the clock on the wall, she was dumbfounded.

She was going to be late!

She lifted the quilt and got out of bed. After rummaging around, she could not find her phone and bag anywhere. Only then did she remember that her stuff was in Connor's study.

She thought, 'No wonder I didn't hear the alarm.'

Annette then quickly left the room and went downstairs.

When Connor came out, he found that Annette had already left the room.

He changed his clothes and went downstairs, while Dwayne had just come in from outside.

"Where is Annette? I didn't see her," Connor said.

"Ms. Hall had rushed down a few minutes earlier and said she was going to be late, so I packed some breakfast for her and prepared a car to give her a ride," Dwayne said.

"I see. Go to the guest room and wake Hari up."

  "OK."

Connor smiled. He could imagine how flustered she was just now.

When the driver pulled up to the school gate, it was exactly 7:50.

Annette sprinted into the office building in seven minutes.

But she was unlucky. Just as she was about to enter the office, Kyle came out.

With her bag on her back, she looked flustered. Kyle frowned and said to her, who was about to enter the office, "Stop."

Annette stood still, looked at him, and asked, "Kyle, what's the matter?"

"Annette, my rules are very clear. One point will be deducted for being late."

Annette tapped her phone screen, and it was 7:59 right now.

She showed him her phone. "Kyle, there is still a minute before it's considered late for work, so, I'm not late."

Kyle gritted his teeth and took a step forward.

Annette took a step back, keeping her distance from him.

Kyle's voice was cold as he said, "So? After being with him, you can't even stay punctual? Or are you so reluctant to leave the bed you share with him?"

Annette clenched her fist and took a deep breath. Then she smiled and said, "When I am with him, every second is so precious. Kyle, you are wrong. I'm still a punctual person because I am not late at all."

After she finished speaking, she pushed open the door, walked into the office, and closed the door.
