His Hybrid Mate

Chapter 74

Chapter 74

The next day, when Annette came to school, a freshman told her that a girl got sick last night.

Annette immediately came to the girl's dormitory.

Then she took the girl to the hospital. It was already noon when they returned to school.

The girl's parents came to the school to check on her.

After she dealt with this issue, Annette returned to the office hungry.

Sara said, "Annette, Kyle just called and asked you to stop by his office when you get here."

  Annette frowned.

She thought, 'What does Kyle want?'

  "I see. Sara, thank you."

Annette had some water and then left.

She came to Kyle's office and knocked on the door.

Kyle's voice rang out as he said, "Come in."

Annette pushed the door open and entered. "Kyle, you wanted to see me?"

Kyle sized her up. Then he pointed coldly at the seat in front of his desk and said, "Sit."

Annette walked over and sat down.

The two looked at each other.

Neither of them could have imagined that they would one day meet again under such circumstances.

Kyle threw a form at her and said, "Here's your evaluation form for this month. I've deducted two points."

  Annette was displeased. "Why?"

"I heard that your student got sick, and you took her to the hospital, right?"

"Yes." She was very calm. "I don't think there's anything wrong with that."

"But the girl has not been feeling well since last night. Why wait till today?" Kyle said coldly.

"She didn't want to disturb me, so she did not call me during the night."

Kyle's expression was cold, and his voice was a bit gloomy. He asked, "Or, maybe you told them not to call you after work hours?"

Annette had her hands on her knees, and then she clenched them into fists.

"Do you know why I deducted your points? Because of your negligence, the girl's parents had to travel all the way to the university to check on her, which affected their work and also made them doubt the university. It was you who did not do your job properly, so, your points were deducted. And I believe it's justifiable," Kyle snorted coldly.

Annette stood up, grabbed the evaluation form, and said coldly, "Kyle, whatever. Deduct as many points as you want. I wonder if you can deduct my points in one go and kick me out of school."

After she finished speaking, she threw the evaluation form at him and was about to leave.

When she walked to the door, Kyle's voice sounded, his tone full of ridicule.

"Relax. Anyone can get kicked out, but not you. After all, you are Alpha Connor's woman. As long as you sleep with him, he will help you solve all your problems. Right?"

Annette had her back to him, and her eyes were moist.

Yet she knew that she would not cry.

A man who humiliated her was not worth her tears.

She took a deep breath, turned around, looked at him, and smiled naturally, "You are right. I guess I'll have to keep Mr. Norman company tonight. After all, unlike someone who knows nothing but making promises, he is both good in bed and lives up to his word."

She opened the door and walked out.

Kyle pushed all the documents on the desk to the ground and roared.

  "Annette! You traitor!"

Hearing Kyle's angry roar in the room, Annette sneered.

  She thought, 'Traitor?

  You were the traitor first.'

After she returned to the office, Annette opened some documents, as if nothing had happened, and began to get her hands on some trivial matters.

The door was suddenly pushed open. Melissa rushed in from outside and said loudly, "Big news!"

In the next second, she saw Annette in the office, and she immediately fell silent.

Sara looked at Melissa and asked, "What big news?"

Melissa smiled awkwardly, "Well... It's nothing."

Annette looked at Melissa and smiled, "Ms. Walter, shall I leave now?"

"That's not necessary." Melissa shook her head.

Then, Sara thought for a moment. "It has something to do with Annette, right?"

"Actually, it's nothing. I just heard that Annette was docked by two points by Kyle."

  Sara looked at Annette.

  The office suddenly became quiet.

Annette nodded with a smile and said, "Yes. He did."

  Sara was puzzled. "Why?"

"Last night, one of my students was sick, and I didn't know about it. So, the girl's parents came to school today," Annette replied.

Melissa asked in surprise, "That's it?"

Sara was stunned as well. "If the student didn't tell you, it shouldn't be your fault."

Annette smiled bitterly, "Forget it. Consider me unlucky."

Sara and Melissa looked at each other.

Both of them felt Annette's career here was in jeopardy.

But in this case, even though they found it unfair, they could do nothing about it.

In the afternoon, when it was time to get off work, Melissa took the lead and left.

Sara finished her work by half past six.

She packed her bag and looked at Annette. "Annette, are you not done yet?"

Annette shook her head and said, "Not yet. Sara, you go first."

"You don't need to work so hard. After all, our work is trivial. Not everything can be done on the same day," Sara persuaded.

Annette looked at Sara, smiled kindly, and said, "Thanks. I appreciate it."

Sara patted Annette's shoulder and said, "We will be colleagues from now on. If you need my help, just tell me. I will try my best to help you."

  "Thank you, Sara."

  "See you tomorrow."

  "See you."

  Then Sara went out.

She shook her head and smiled after she left the office, thinking, 'Looks like Annette doesn't remember me at all.'

It was already half past seven by the time Annette finished her work.

She looked at the time and remembered that Connor had said he was going to eat at her place. So, she got up, cleared her desk, and left the school.

Just as she reached the gate, a car parked on the side of the road flashed its headlights twice.

She turned around and was surprised to see that it was Connor.

Annette stopped in her tracks abruptly. Still surprised, she quickly turned around, opened the door, and got into his car.

  "Why are you here?"

"I'm here to pick you up."

"Then why didn't you call me?"

"Don't you think this is better?"

  She smiled and buckled up.

Connor started the car and drove off. He said, "Instead of eating at home tonight, I'll take you out."

"Then can I make a request?" She looked at him.

  "Name it."

"I'm starving. Can we not go too far and go straight to somewhere nearby?"
