Chapter 71
Chapter 71
"I wasn't feeling well. Yet I got better soon," Connor smiled and said. "Have you forgotten that we werewolves are great at healing?"
Annette thought, 'Annette, you are so stupid!
Because of the human blood in my body, my self-healing ability isn't as good as those pure-blood werewolves, not to mention Connor, who is an Alpha.
Even if he was feeling unwell, there were doctors from the Blood Moon Pack taking care of him.'
Seeing how angry Annette was, Connor was amused.
He put his arm around her waist and said, "But I'm genuinely glad that you came."
Instead of feeling comforted by his words, Annette felt a deep sense of defeat.
She thought, 'Am I really stupid?'
Time passed quickly. After Annette's training, her job at the university would soon begin.
She had been very busy.
Connor didn't even have a chance to eat the food made by Annette.
Connor gave Annette a ride to Werewolf University. Just as Annette was about to get out of the car, he asked, "Is this job that important to you?"
"It's my dream," Annette replied.
"Is that all you wanted? Just to teach at Werewolf University?" Connor was very surprised. To him, this job was no different from being his pack's Omega.
"This is what my mother wanted," Annette thought for a moment and answered earnestly.
Connor found it hard to refute her. After all, it wasn't his dream to start and run Norman Group in the first place.
There were many things people did simply out of duty.
Annette was a student instructor at Werewolf University.
The students of Werewolf University were from different packs. Therefore, after they enrolled in the university, student instructors would help them to get familiar with campus life and study.
On the first day of school, Annette ran into Kyle, who was wearing a suit and tie, in the hallway.
She knew that she would bump into him sooner or later because she worked here.
After all, Fiona was the president of the university.
But she hadn't expected to meet him so soon.
It was just the first day of school.
She wondered the reason why he came to the school office building on such a day.
She lowered her head and pretended that she didn't see him.
Kyle did the same. He glanced at her calmly and walked past her as if he did not know her.
The vice president of the university presided over the meeting after Annette entered the room.
"This year, we have three new staff joining us. The one standing beside me, Kyle, will be working at the Student Counseling Center. From now on, he will be in charge of all the student instructors."
Annette frowned and thought, 'Terrific!'
"And there are two new student instructors, Annette and John."
Cheers and applause broke out across the conference room.
Then, Kyle stood up and swept his cold gaze across everyone's faces.
"Hi, I'm Kyle. I know that some of you must think that my presence here today has something to do with my mother being the university's president. Well, you are right. So, from now on, I hope all of you can do your job properly. In the future, I will evaluate your performance on a point-based system. Each of you will be given ten points every month. If you do one thing wrong, certain points will be deducted. On the first day of each month, your points will be back to ten again. Student instructors who lose all their points within a month can kiss their jobs goodbye. You don't get a second chance under my watch."
After he finished speaking, he sat down and looked at Annette.
The vice president clapped his hands. "Great! It seems that Kyle is ready to get to work, and I'm sure the point system he suggests will be great for getting everyone motivated. I believe everyone here will pass. Alright then. If there is nothing else, let's call it a day."
Annette raised her hand and said, "Sir, I have a question."
"Yes?"
"What if we encounter jobbery at work?"
Before the vice president could answer, Kyle sneered, "Annette, are you afraid that I'll be targeting you?"
"Kyle, you announced your new policy in a domineering manner. I'm just saying that it's a bit unfair to us since we will be held back by this point system of yours. What about you? Don't you need to be supervised?" Annette offered her opinion.
"Annette, you weren't paying attention when I was talking. I've already told everyone that I'm standing here because of my mother, the university's president. So, tell me, who in this room do you think is qualified to fire me?" Kyle said coldly.
Annette gritted her teeth and looked at him. She realized that Kyle had changed.
Kyle looked at her and said, "Of course, if you think you are capable of pulling strings, then go ahead. Annette, at least you can manage it, right?"
Kyle said and took the lead to leave the room.
After he left, the vice president left as well.
The entire conference room was instantly chaotic.
Everyone was worried about their jobs because of Kyle's point system.
Annette took a deep breath and covered her face with both hands.
She thought, 'Kyle is doing this on purpose.
I'm certain of this.
This is so obvious.
The look in Kyle's eyes upsets me a lot.
I've never seen him so indifferent before.'
She sighed and left the conference room with her laptop in her arms.
Annette called Roxanne while eating in the cafeteria.
Knowing that Kyle had become Annette's immediate superior, Roxanne was furious and started cursing.
"Is Kyle nuts? What a piece of shit! Doesn't he know he makes you sick?"
Annette frowned and said, "Come on, Roxanne. I'm eating lunch."
"I'm sorry. I was just so furious. He was the one who made a mistake. Who gave him the right to bully you?" Roxanne said indignantly.
Annette was a little annoyed as well.
Roxanne said in frustration, "Annette, do you really have to work there? Just quit. Come to me, and I'll support you. You shouldn't give him the chance to bully you."
Hearing Roxanne's words, Annette couldn't help but grin and said, "Roxanne, I've got to stick with it. It's something I've got to do. I'm not a quitter."
