Chapter 69
Chapter 69
Annette looked at Connor curiously. She thought that Connor would tell her what happened between the two packs.
However, Connor simply rubbed her head and said, "You don't have to know. In my eyes, you are not a member of the Black Thorn Pack."
Annette felt warm in her heart. Indeed, Connor never saw her as one of them.
Therefore, how could he get close to her for any other reason?
She didn't carry that kind of value to him.
He simply wanted to be nice to her.
However, she wouldn't love him.
But she could be his friend. Even if he wanted more than that, she would only see him as a friend.
"Why are you looking at me like that?" Connor stared at Annette.
"Connor, if you need anything from me one day, I will definitely help you," Annette said.
Connor smiled and said, "If it is something I can't even deal with, I won't put you through it either."
"Don't underestimate me. I will keep my promise, and let's just wait and see," Annette said.
"Then I need your help right now. Will you do me a favor?" Connor asked.
She turned back to look at him. "What is it about?"
"Marry me." Connor chuckled and said, "I want you to be my mate, Luna of the Blood Moon Pack."
Annette was lost for words. She raised her fist and said, "Connor, you can't trick me anymore. Thanks to you, I don't blush at such words so easily now."
Connor followed up and said, "I mean it. But you never take me seriously."
"That's because you know that I won't agree, but you keep bringing it up again and again. How should I describe you? Relentless, or petulant?
"Did you learn those words just to give me a hard time?"
"Sorry. But I knew these words long before I met you." Annette shrugged.
They talked and laughed while walking toward Annette's apartment building.
Connor suddenly stopped while she was still walking.
"Annette," Connor said, "Take a hot bath and rest early."
She turned around and asked, "Are you not coming up?"
"If you insist, I will. After all, I've already built a certain attachment to your apartment recently."
Annette immediately said, "I won't invite you. I'm gonna finish all the doughnuts myself. I won't share them with you."
"Then send me a photo after you finish them all. So I will know that you don't lie to me and you really like the things I bought for you," Connor said.
So, was Connor really not going upstairs with her?
Somehow, she felt a little disappointed.
She nodded and said, "Okay, I got it. Be safe on the road."
Annette turned on the light as soon as she returned home. She ran to the window and looked down.
Although it was a little far away, she could still see Connor waving at her.
After Connor left, she turned back to the table and opened the box of doughnuts.
In an instant, her face was full of smiles.
Just as she picked up the third one, her phone rang.
She quickly wiped her hand with a tissue and thought it was a call from Connor.
She held the phone, but it was not Connor.
The screen showed a strange number.
"Hello." She picked it up anyway.
"Hello, is that Ms. Hall?"
Annette frowned and nodded. "Yes. Who is this?"
"Hello, Ms. Hall. This is Mr. Norman's secretary, Hari. I wonder if you still remember me. We had dinner together in the restaurant last time."
Annette nodded. "Yes, I remember. Is there anything I can do for you?"
"May I ask if Mr. Norman is with you now?"
Annette replied, a little embarrassed, "He just left."
"Oh, that will be bad."
Hearing him say so, Annette asked worriedly, "What happened?"
"We were in a negotiation with our partners when Mr. Norman suddenly stopped the meeting. It has been almost an hour, and he still hasn't come back yet. I'm afraid there won't be any chance for cooperation if he doesn't get back soon."
Hari's words made Annette feel guilty instantly.
Her eyes were red. She said, "Hari, what to do now?"
"Ms. Hall, don't worry. I'll think of another way. Mr. Norman... Finally, you are back."
On the other side of the phone, Hari suddenly called out to Connor.
Then, Connor's cold voice sounded.
"Did I say I wouldn't come back?"
Connor looked like a completely different man from what he was in front of Annette.
Hari put the phone back to his ear and said, "Ms. Hall, Mr. Norman is back. Don't worry."
Connor frowned and asked, "Are you calling Annette?"
Hari said guiltily, "Mr. Norman, I'm sorry. I couldn't get through to you just now, so I called Ms. Hall."
"Alright." He grabbed Hari's phone and asked, "Have you finished the doughnuts?"
Hearing Connor's voice, Annette stomped her feet and said, "Connor, why are you doing this? I'll have to take the blame if you fail this cooperation, OK?"
"It's my business, even if I failed. Of course, if you feel bad and want to make it up to me, you can marry me. I don't mind."
He hung up the phone.
He shouted at Hari, who had just walked to the door of the meeting room, "Stop."
Hari stopped right away. He turned around and said respectfully, "Mr. Norman."
Connor threw his phone at Hari.
Hari caught it.
Connor said, "If you dare to call her again because of this kind of thing, see how I will deal with you."
"I promise, there will be no next time."
Annette looked at the doughnuts all over the table and lost her appetite.
However, she remembered that Connor was still expecting her to finish all the doughnuts.
She picked up a doughnut and continued eating.
After finishing two more, she really couldn't eat anymore. She took a selfie and sent it to Connor.
When Connor heard his phone ring, he picked up the phone and took a look at the photo.
He sneered when he saw Annette pointing at the doughnuts on the table and making faces with cream on her lips.
Hari stood by the side, feeling extremely nervous.
He had never seen this side of Connor.
