　　"Just save it and stop telling yourself that you are some lofty woman. You and I are the same. What makes you think you are better than me?" Catherine said with a ferocious look.

　　"I never said that I was better than you. I kept my distance from you because you used me before. And I won't be friends with a person like you."

　　Annette glared at Catherine coldly. She passed around Catherine, walked out of the lounge, and returned to her desk.

　　She would leave the Norman Group in ten days.

　　So, she had made up her mind.

　　In these ten days, she had to keep a distance from everyone.

　　Catherine snorted disdainfully, "A pretentious woman."

　　At noon, Curtis passed by Annette's desk after he returned from training.

　　He knocked on her desk.

　　Annette raised her head. Seeing that Curtis was smiling at her, she got a little alert.

　　"Curtis, what do you think?"

　　"Let's have lunch together. There is a new restaurant opposite our company. I heard that it is not bad."

　　His words attracted the attention of several people in the office, including Catherine.

　　She thought in her heart.

　　'Curtis was overestimating himself.'

　　Annette shook her head and said, "Curtis, I can't go. Amanda and I already planned to go to the cafeteria."

　　She stood up and looked at Amanda in the corner of the room. "Amanda, shall we go now?"

　　Amanda replied with a smile, "Yes. Let's go."

　　She patted Curtis on the shoulder. "Go with someone else. I'll take up Annette's lunch breaks from now on."

　　She then walked out of the office. Annette looked at her and smiled, "Amanda, thank you."

　　"Don't mention it. I have to eat anyway."

　　They reached the entrance of the cafeteria.

　　Then, Annette's phone rang.

　　It was from Connor, so she asked Amanda to go in first. She walked aside and picked up the phone.

　　"I'm outside the cafeteria. It's a bit noisy here. So, I got to go."

　　Annette did not give Connor a chance to say anything and hung up the phone immediately. She turned around and entered the cafeteria.

　　Connor was unhappy. He shouted at the door, "Hari, where are you?"

　　Hari pushed the door open and asked, "Mr. Norman, is there anything you need?"

　　"How's the food in our cafeteria?"

　　"I heard it's not bad."

　　"Really? Let's go there for lunch today."

　　Connor stood up and walked toward the door.

　　When he showed up at the cafeteria, the entire place fell dead silent.

　　People stopped chatting right away.

　　Everyone's gaze fell on Connor at the door.

　　Connor curved his lips and said to Hari, "Tell them to ignore me."

　　Hari raised his voice and said hurriedly, "Everyone, please continue."

　　Under the gaze of hundreds of people, Connor walked to Amanda and Annette.

　　Amanda stood up and looked at Connor. "Mr. Norman."

　　Annette had no choice but to bow slightly to him. "Mr. Norman."

　　Connor looked at Amanda and said, "May I take your seat?"

　　He sat down opposite Annette and smiled, "Sit down please."

　　Annette kept quiet. Connor stared at her for three seconds before looking away.

　　He asked Amanda, "I heard the food here is good. Is that true?"

　　Amanda answered nervously, "Yes, Mr. Norman. The food here is great and there is a variety to choose from."

　　"That's good."

　　They chatted. It looked like Connor was here for Amanda.

　　Hari brought the food to Connor.

　　"Mr. Norman, I picked a few dishes for you. I'm not sure if it's OK with you," Hari said.

　　"It is fine. Have a seat," Connor said casually.

　　Hari hesitated for a moment. Just as he was about to sit beside Annette...

　　Connor suddenly said, "Not there."

　　Amanda pointed to the seat on the other side and said, "Mr. Wincott, maybe you can sit here."

　　Hari walked hurriedly over.

　　Annette felt extremely embarrassed.

　　She ignored Connor and did not even look at him.

　　Connor held back his laughter. He knew that she was feeling nervous.

　　He was gloating in his heart, 'With so many people here, she must be afraid of being exposed.

　　'She deserves it. No one asked her to hang up my phone.

　　'This is punishment.'

　　Connor asked while eating, "Did you enjoy your dinner with that guy last night?"

　　Amanda was stunned. She wondered, 'What was going on? Does Mr. Norman know that Annette had dinner with a man last night?'

　　Annette knew that Connor was asking her, but she refused to answer.

　　Connor looked up at her. "Annette, I'm asking you a question."

　　His voice was not low. Annette was nervous and looked around. Seeing that no one was paying attention to them, she said softly, "It was pretty good."

　　Connor continued to ask, "Didn't he tell you anything?"

　　"No."

　　"How is that possible?"

　　"He didn't tell me anything." Annette's tone carried a hint of displeasure.

　　Hari swallowed nervously.

　　He thought, 'She must be crazy. How dare she talk to Mr. Norman like this?'

　　Connor was not angry. He said, "I'm going to a banquet tonight. Do you want to come with me? I need a female companion."

　　Annette thought, 'I don't have to prepare dinner for him tonight?'

　　"I'll pass," Annette rejected straightforwardly.

　　Hari and Amanda both had the same question. What exactly was going on?

　　Annette finished her meal quickly. She stood up and said to Connor, "Mr. Norman, I'm finished. I'll go back to the office. Enjoy your meal."

　　She picked up her tray and left.

　　Only three people left.

　　Connor said, "Has anyone been bothering her these past few days?"

　　Amanda knew that he was asking her. She replied, "Mr. Norman, don't worry. A week ago, I put Curtis on a business trip. He returned today."

　　"Very good. If anyone approaches her again, report to me," Connor said.

　　"Okay." Amanda nodded in agreement.
