Chapter 47
Chapter 47
Annette said hurriedly, "Curtis, nice to meet you."
Curtis smiled, "Actually, I am not a chatter either. But today is different because I have a question for you. So I have to keep talking to avoid embarrassment."
Annette looked at him. "What's your question?"
"Annette, do you have a boyfriend?" Curtis glanced at her from the rearview mirror and was looking forward to her answer.
Annette was not a fool.
Curtis' purpose was obvious.
She did not want more trouble, so she nodded and said, "Yes."
"I think so too. Is your boyfriend your classmate? He must be outstanding." Curtis sounded relaxed, as if he was chatting with a friend.
"You are right. He is very outstanding," Annette said with a smile.
"Do you guys have a plan? I see that you are serious about your work. Are you trying to stay in the company?"
Annette did not answer. Curtis continued, "Don't get me wrong. You remind me of my past. I broke up with my girlfriend when I graduated. So I want to ask if you have plans for the future."
Annette thought about it. "No."
"Even if you and your boyfriend can't be together in the end, an outstanding girl like you will always find a man suitable for you. When you were recruited into our department, a lot of guys had their eyes on you," Curtis said.
"Curtis, the future is uncertain." Annette was not interested in the topic.
"But the reality is right in front of you," Curtis said meaningfully.
Annette saw her apartment building and said, "Curtis, you can stop the car here. I want to take a walk around."
"Do you want me to walk with you?" Curtis asked.
Annette shook her head. "That's fine. I won't waste your time."
"It's my pleasure to take you home. Plus, I also have a selfish motive. If you are single one day, I hope you can consider me," Curtis said honestly.
Annette was stunned for a moment. She opened the car door and said, "Curtis, thank you for taking me home. Goodnight."
She got out of the car and entered the residential area.
She was pondering about something, so she didn't notice the luxury car parked on the curb.
Annette walked past the car. The door opened, and Connor's voice came from behind.
"Where have you been? It's kinda late."
Annette turned around and looked at him in surprise. "Why are you here again?"
"Don't you want to see me?"
Annette was speechless. "I live here. Do you have to come here every day?"
Connor took out the lunch box from the car and handed it to her.
"I was so happy that you left the lunch box in my office. Do you know why? Because I'll have another reason to come to see you. But your attitude is making me upset."
Annette took the lunch box.
Connor put his hands into his pockets and continued, "You haven't told me where you've been yet."
Annette said, "Because of you, Amanda was promoted today. She invited everyone in the Training Department to a meal. Didn't you promise me that you wouldn't tell anyone that you knew me?"
"Yeah. But, I won't let you be bullied in my company," Connor shrugged and said.
They entered the elevator. Connor said, "I haven't had dinner yet. Will you cook something for me?"
Annette looked at him. "If you keep doing this, the chef in your place will be worried about his job."
"Are you asking for a salary?"
Annette tilted her head and smiled.
Looking at her bright smile, Connor arched his brow and said, "I don't like to see you smile at other guys."
Annette rolled her eyes and walked out of the elevator.
After returning home, she went to the kitchen to cook dinner for Connor.
She knew that Connor would not give up until he got what he wanted.
"Don't do this again," Annette said as she sat opposite Connor.
Connor looked up at her and asked, "What?"
"You shouldn't come to my place so often," Annette said. "This is inappropriate. Who would believe that the high and mighty Alpha Connor would stay in such a small flat and eat the food made by a rogue?"
"Annette, don't treat me differently from others. I need love and care just like everyone else. I always thought you knew me well." Connor put down his knife and fork and wiped his mouth with a tissue.
Annette felt pity for him.
Connor stood up and walked toward the door.
Annette said guiltily, "Where are you going?"
"Since I'm not welcomed here. I should go." Connor looked back at Annette. Then, he opened the door and walked out.
Annette sat at the dining table and took a deep breath. She had a headache.
She thought, 'Did my words hurt him?'
In the end, she did not say anything.
From her standpoint, he was from a completely different world.
Annette said to herself, 'Forget it. He can do whatever he wants.'
She picked up the plate from the table and took it to the kitchen.
She was going to wash the dishes, but when she thought of Connor's depressed look just now...
She felt bad.
For some reason, what Marcus had said echoed in Annette's mind.
Marcus had once asked her, "Annette, have you been isolated before?"
Annette was puzzled and asked, "What happened? Are you isolated? You are the younger brother of the Alpha of the Blood Moon Pack. Even in human schools, you are the younger brother of the president of the Norman Group. Who dares to isolate you?"
"But I am also just an ordinary student. I don't have any friends. In others' opinion, I was born different from them, and they kept a distance from me. I don't understand. What is different about me? I also want to make friends and play basketball with them. I am different because Connor is my brother, the Alpha of the Blood Moon Pack, right?"
