Chapter 43
Chapter 43
"I think I am more capable than Thea, but because of her relationship with Melvin, she had a higher authority in the department. I am not convinced," Amanda said frankly.
Connor looked at her and thought that Amanda was a capable woman. He wanted her to work with him directly.
He nodded and said, "Alright. If Annette gets bullied by anyone, report it to me directly. This is my condition for promoting you as a manager."
Amanda was stunned. A manager?
"OK, Mr. Norman," Amanda replied immediately.
"In addition, since you said that Thea is incompetent, find proof and then fire her," Connor said.
Amanda had always been competing with Thea secretly. Hearing that she had the right to fire Thea, Amanda was excited.
Amanda left Connor's office. After a while, Hari knocked on the door and entered. He handed Annette's phone to Connor.
"Mr. Norman, Amanda gave it to me. She said you asked for it," Hari said.
Connor took the phone and said to Hari, "Check up on Melvin. I'll deal with him, but I've got nothing on him yet."
"Okay, Mr. Norman."
Annette returned to the company and asked for leave. She went to the supermarket. She was injured today and wanted to cook something nice for herself.
At the entrance of the apartment building, she saw Austin.
Austin walked over and said guiltily, "Ann, I'm sorry."
"Austin, I told you not to say sorry to me again," Annette said. "It's not your fault. You didn't bring them to see me. Besides, in my heart, you are different from them."
"Why didn't you pick up my call today?" Austin asked.
Annette glanced at the bag in her hand and said, "I was busy."
"I thought you were angry with me. Now, give me a hug," Austin said as he walked forward and pulled her into his arms.
"It hurts," Annette shouted.
Austin let go of her and asked, "What's wrong?"
Annette took two steps back and said, "Don't worry. I was burnt by hot water today. I've got the wound treated, and it doesn't hurt if I don't touch it. It will recover soon."
Just as they were talking, Connor's car drove in.
He got out of the car and walked toward them.
Austin's expression instantly turned cold when he saw Connor.
Connor walked in front of Annette and said to Annette as if he hadn't seen Austin. "Are you feeling better?"
Annette nodded.
Austin pulled Annette behind him and looked at Connor.
He thought, 'How did he know that Annette was injured?
'It seems that Annette doesn't listen to me and is still in contact with him.'
"Go upstairs," Austin said coldly to Annette, his eyes fixed on Connor.
Connor smiled, "Mr. Fisher, it's not nice to talk to Annette like that."
Austin laughed coldly and said, "How I talk to her is my business. It has nothing to do with you, Alpha Connor."
"She will be my mate. It does have something to do with me," Connor said.
Austin gritted his teeth and looked at Connor with hostility. He said, "Alpha Connor, I'm afraid that you will be disappointed. Annette will never become the Luna of the Blood Moon Pack."
"As a member of the Black Thorn Pack, you don't get to decide it," Connor said contemptuously.
"Even so, Annette will listen to me. And you know the reason for it," Austin said.
Connor's eyes turned sharp. He said, "When you had a family gathering, she was always alone. When she needed her family, you never showed up. Now, she doesn't need her family, but you stand out and pretend to care about her. Austin, don't be so despicable. You can't meddle in Annette's business."
Austin clenched his fist and said, "Although it isn't announced in public, there is no doubt about the fact that she is a member of the Fisher family."
"Enough!" Annette interrupted their conversation.
She took a deep breath and asked, "Are you done?"
She walked in front of Connor and said, "Alpha Connor, thank you for your help these days, but I hope you know that I won't change my decision. I will not become your mate."
Upon hearing Annette's words, Austin looked at Connor provocatively.
Annette looked at Connor guiltily and then at Austin.
"Austin, Indeed, you are my family, but it doesn't mean that I'll listen to you in every respect. I will not let you change my life. I hate the Black Thorn Pack and the Fisher family, so don't mention that I am a member of the Fisher family again. If I had a choice, I would give up that connection with this family."
After that, Annette took two steps back and said to Austin and Connor, "I am not feeling well, and I'll go upstairs. Keep fighting, if you want. Bye."
Annette went straight upstairs.
When she got home, she walked to the sofa and sat down. She put her hand over her forehead.
She complained in her heart, 'Why did they meet?
'The scene just now was so scary!
'I was really afraid that they would fight each other!'
Five minutes later, the doorbell rang.
Annette was in a daze. Hearing the doorbell, she felt somewhat nervous.
She opened the door and saw Connor standing outside.
She asked in confusion, "Did Austin leave?"
"So? Don't tell me that you prefer him to come upstairs with me?" Connor arched an eyebrow.
"Why didn't you leave?" Annette asked.
Connor took out Annette's phone and handed it to her. "Don't refuse me in front of people, especially those from the Black Thorn Pack."
"If you don't want that kind of embarrassment, don't come to me again. I am serious."
Connor looked at Annette and said calmly, "I told you that we would have plenty of time together in the future. I am afraid that you will lose face when the time comes."
