His Hybrid Mate

Chapter 44

Chapter 44

Annette took her phone. She looked up at Connor and said, "Anyway, thank you for bringing me my phone. If there is nothing else, you can go now."

"You're injured. I have to take care of you," Connor said and had no intention of leaving.

"I can take care of myself."

"It is not up to you." Connor pointed at the grocery bag on the ground and asked, "Are you going to cook?"

"So? Can't I cook something for myself?" Annette looked at him with an unhappy face.

"You are moody. Sounds like you want to pick up a fight," Connor said.

"I'm unhappy. So, why can't I be moody?" Annette said.

"You can." Connor looked at her calmly and said, "You can be as willful as you want with me. I won't take it seriously or argue with you."

Annette blushed. How could he say such a thing without blushing?

Annette picked up the grocery bag and walked to the kitchen.

Connor said, "Don't cook too much. I was so angry just now that I was almost full. So, I can't eat much."

Annette turned around and glared at Connor. She went to the kitchen and made some spaghetti.

  She had no appetite, either.

  Connor enjoyed the food.

Annette looked at him and wanted to say something, but she hesitated.

Connor asked her, "What do you want to say?"

"Are you really targeting the Black Thorn Pack?" Annette asked.

"Yes." Connor thought for a few seconds and asked, "Austin told you?"

"No. I heard it from other members of the Black Thorn Pack. Why did you target the Black Thorn Pack?" Annette asked.

"Do I need a reason? The Blood Moon Pack and the Black Thorn Pack never got along. I never liked them." Connor shrugged.

"But it was so sudden. The Blood Moon Pack, as well as the Fisher Group under it, had never gone against the Norman Group before. This time, you started it and you are targeting the Fisher Group, right?" Annette said.

  "Do you care?" Connor asked.

"No. I'm just curious about why you suddenly made such a decision."

"If you want a reason, I'll tell you. I'm doing it for you. I want you to see the true faces of your so-called family in the Black Thorn Pack."

  "What?" Annette frowned and asked.

Connor lifted the corner of his mouth and said, "Just wait and see."

The next morning, Annette arrived at the company and got herself a cup of coffee.

When she was about to return to her seat, she happened to meet with Thea.

Thea snorted and said in a mocking tone, "Someone slacked off because of a light injury and even wronged others. It seems that I am being too naive."

Annette's expression was calm. She walked past Thea and pretended not to see her.

Being ignored by Annette, Thea returned to her seat unhappily and threw her bag on the table. She looked coldly at Annette, who was not far from her.

"I also want to be absent for a day. Can someone please accidentally spill a glass of water on me?"

People around Thea echoed her and chuckled.

"Thea, don't be mad at a newcomer."

Thea shook her head and said, "I just can't stand such a pretentious person."

Annette took out a few papers from her bag and placed them on Thea's table.

She said calmly, "Thea, these are the receipts for my treatments at the hospital yesterday. Since you hurt me, and you can't share the pain, can you at least pay for the medical fees for me?"

Thea stood up and said loudly, "Annette, what's wrong with you? Why should I pay for your medical fees?"

"You splashed me for no reason, and why should I keep silent and bear the cost alone? Have I offended you?" Annette asked.

"You deserve it. You weren't careful enough while walking!" Thea sneered.

"Thea, don't think that you can bully the newcomers as you please just because you're a senior employee. If you don't want to pay for it, I'll have to complain to the senior management. And let's see who will suffer in the end. In the worst case, I won't be working at the Norman Group anymore. It doesn't matter to me," Annette shrugged and said.

Thea gritted her teeth and glared at Annette.

"Also," Annette walked back to her desk. She picked up the cup of water and poured it on Thea.

It was ice water, but even so, Thea still screamed.

"Annette, are you crazy?" She shook her clothes and pushed Annette.

Annette said seriously, "You asked for it just now. I'm helping you. Why are you angry?"

  "What!" Thea pointed at her.

Annette raised her hand and pushed Thea's hand away.

She said, "Thea, listen carefully. You should feel lucky that it was only ice water. I was being kind to you. In addition, the dress I wore yesterday was from Dior's latest collections, yet you ruined it with a cup of coffee. I was generous enough and didn't ask for compensation."

Thea looked at Annette, refusing to admit defeat.

Melvin and Amanda walked in together.

When Thea saw Melvin, she got up from her seat hurriedly and walked to him. She said with a grievance, "Mr. Horton, Annette is such a bully! Look at my clothes."

She stomped her feet in anger.

Melvin frowned and asked, "What happened?"

Thea pointed at Annette and said, "She asked me to pay for her medical fees and then poured a cup of water on me. It was an accident yesterday and I apologized to her. But she won't let go."

Annette said coldly, "Didn't you ask people to pour water on you just now? I did what you asked. Why are you complaining?"

  "Annette, shut up!" Thea shouted.
