His Hybrid Mate

Chapter 42

Chapter 42

The two left the hospital together and got in the car.

Connor looked at Annette worriedly. He said with annoyance, "Who did this to you? Can't he or she hold a cup firmly? If not, that person should leave this company."

"Her name is Thea and she has been working here for a long time. She already apologized to me and said that she didn't mean it." Annette shrugged and said.

Connor looked at her through the rearview mirror and asked, "So? You just forgive her like that?"

Annette hesitated for a moment before saying, "Of course not. She did it on purpose."

Connor looked back at her. His voice became sharper. "She did it on purpose?"

Annette smiled. "You are the boss. Do you feel that I'm complaining to you by saying this?"

  "What exactly happened?" Connor said.

"Actually, I don't know what happened either. We were in the lounge. Later, we turned around and walked out at the same time. We were too far to bump into each other. But somehow, she spilled her coffee on me. So, I didn't think it was an accident." Annette recalled.

Connor snorted and said, "You were bullied. Why didn't you call me?"

"Why should I call you? If you showed up, wouldn't everyone know that I pulled some strings to get the job? I don't want people talking behind my back during the month I work here," Annette said.

"So? Are you just gonna let it go?" Connor asked.

Annette thought for a moment and said, "I will find out the reason why she is targeting me and then get it back to her."

Connor smiled and did not say anything more. Annette seemed to have thought of something and said, "Speaking of which, why did you come to the hospital?"

"I called you. But someone named Amanda from your department answered it. She said that you left your phone in the lounge. You were burnt and went to the hospital," Connor replied.

Connor did not send Annette back to the company. Instead, he took her back to his villa.

  Annette had a cold face.

When Connor asked her to get out of the car for the third time, she said stubbornly, "Either send me to the company or send me home. Anyway, I will never stay here."

"Your family is here. Where else can you go?" Connor said with a smile.

Annette gritted her teeth and said, "Are you going to keep using it to make fun of me?"

"Yes. I intend to do it for a lifetime," Connor replied with a smile.

She looked at Connor. Did he know how long a lifetime would be?

She did not include him in her plans.

"I have to go back to work. Otherwise, send me home," Annette insisted.

Connor looked at Annette for a while. Since she insisted, he had to compromise. He drove Annette back to the Norman Group.

Before Annette was about to get out of the car, she said, "I heard that the clothes you asked me to wear are very expensive."

"Of course. I won't buy from ordinary brands," Connor said.

"I can't return this dress to you because it was ruined by coffee. If you want compensation, go ask Thea. I don't have money anyway," Annette said.

Connor looked at her lovingly and said, "Alright, stop talking nonsense. Get changed and have a rest. I'll come to see you again tonight."

Annette said, "You don't have to do that. I'm fine."

  But Connor ignored her.

When Connor returned to his office, he called Hari in.

"Find an excuse and ask Amanda from the training department to come to my office," Connor ordered.

  "Yes," Hari replied.

However, he was puzzled. He did not know why his boss was so concerned about what happened in the training department.

Ten minutes later, Amanda showed up at Connor's office. She said respectfully, "Mr. Norman, nice to meet you. I am Amanda."

"Do you know why I asked you to come here?" Connor leaned against the chair and looked at Amanda.

Amanda was nervous. She said, "I'm sorry, Mr. Norman. I'm not sure."

"Do you know about the details of the incident in your department today?" Connor asked.

Amanda wondered how Connor knew about it.

"Yes." Amanda took a deep breath and told him everything she saw.

Connor raised his eyebrows and said, "So, are you sure that Thea spilled the coffee on Annette?"

"I didn't see it. At that time, they were the only ones in the lounge," Amanda answered truthfully.

"Then, do you know why Thea did that?" Connor asked.

Amanda immediately realized that Connor and Annette must know each other.

Amanda hesitated for a moment. "Mr. Norman, I'm not sure. In the past few days, someone in the office said that Mr. Horton arranged for his lover to be a temporary lecturer in the company. They had been guessing who that person was. Today, someone speculated that Annette was his lover because she was wearing an expensive dress. Therefore, Thea targeted Annette."

Connor asked doubtfully, "Why is she targeting her just because of this?"

Amanda took a deep breath. "Mr. Norman, in fact, Thea is one of Mr. Horton's lovers. I am not the only one who knows about this. Everyone in my office does. It is because of this that when Annette was bullied, everyone was on Thea's side."

Connor laughed coldly. It seemed that Melvin was really enjoying his life.

"Then, why did you help Annette?" Connor asked.

"Because I know that Annette is not Mr. Horton's lover," Amanda replied. "When the four temporary training lecturers came to the office, I knew who his lover was because when I was shopping last time, I saw him buying things for that girl, so I knew that Annette was innocent."

"Even so, why did you dare to help Annette?" Connor stared at Amanda and asked, "Since you already know about the relationship between Thea and Melvin, aren't you afraid of being targeted by Melvin?"
