His Hybrid Mate

Chapter 33

Chapter 33

Annette looked up at Kyle. She walked to the bed, put down the flowers, and said to Lena, "Stop screaming. I'm not here to quarrel with you."

  "Get out!" Lena cried.

Annette took a deep breath and said, "Kyle. I want to talk to Lena alone."

"She is so hurt. What else do you want?" Kyle asked in disbelief.

"Do you think I will kill her?" Annette's eyes were wet. She said with a grievance, "Is that what you think of me?"

Kyle was stunned for a moment. "Just try not to hurt her more. The doctor said that she needed to rest." After that, he went out.

The door closed. Annette took a deep breath. She walked to the bed and looked at Lena.

"Why did you do that?" Annette said.

"I don't know what you are talking about." Lena snorted.

"I didn't push you." Annette continued, "Why did you do that?"

Lena said fiercely through gritted teeth, "Annette, I won't let you win. Kyle is mine."

"So you'll do anything to keep him, including risking your baby's life? Aren't you afraid of losing it?" Annette asked in shock.

"No one wants this baby. Kyle did not want him, and Fiona asked me to have an abortion. I have discussed this with Fiona. I agreed to give up this baby, and Fiona would drive you out of university. I should thank you for such a good opportunity. You blocked Kyle's view, and he could not see anything. So, Annette, you can't defend yourself. You are the murderer. You killed me and Kyle's baby," Lena smirked.

"It is your baby. Don't you feel sorry for it?" Annette did not expect that she would kill her own baby.

"Anyway, I have achieved my goal. I have no choice but to be cruel, or I will never be able to win Kyle's heart. Annette, I couldn't hate you more. Do you know it?" Lena showed a ferocious expression.

Annette said, "I don't know that you've hated me silently for four years. I feel sorry for you. But Lena, I am afraid I will let you down. Just wait and see."

  Annette turned around and left.

Lena sneered and wanted to see how Annette could prove her innocence.

  Annette left the ward.

Kyle looked at her while leaning against the wall.

His eyes were filled with coldness.

Kyle frowned and said, "I know you didn't do it on purpose. You were angry and couldn't control yourself. But Annette, you have to admit that you were wrong."

Annette lowered her head. She took out a recording pen from her bag and switched it on.

It was the conversation between her and Lena in the ward just now. Kyle lowered his head and listened to it quietly.

His expression turned gloomier, and he clenched his fists.

After she played the recording, Annette switched it off and put it back into her bag.

Kyle looked away guiltily. He said, "Annette, I'm sorry."

"You should never say that you love me, not again. Your words are not matched by your deeds. A two-faced man like you is simply a scumbag. Kyle, I hate myself for trusting you once, and I hate you. Don't come to me again. You don't deserve me." With that, Annette raised her chin and left proudly.

Kyle gritted his teeth and pushed open the door of the ward. He walked to the bed and looked at the heartbroken Lena.

There were still tears on Lena's face. She pretended to be sad and said, "Kyle, will you leave me because I lost the baby? I love you. Don't ever leave me, okay?"

"Stop acting. I heard everything you said to Lena," Kyle said fiercely.

Lena was stunned for a moment. 'How could it be? Annette and I stood far from the door, and our voices were low.'

"From now on, I want you to stay away from me. I don't want to see you again. You make me sick!" Kyle left indifferently without paying Lena's medical expenses. Somehow, she deserved it.

Lena looked flustered and was at a loss.

In the taxi, Annette hesitated, and then she called Connor.

  "This is Annette."

"I know." Connor's tone was calm. "I shall remember this day. This is the first time you have called me. So, are you still mad at me?"

Annette was at a loss, "Is your offer still available?"

Connor smiled and thought, 'The fish finally took the bait.'

"Of course. Tell me what you want?" Connor asked.

"I want my position back, as a teacher at the university. Can you help me?" Annette said.

"Sure. Invite me to dinner tonight. After that, we are even. How's that?" Connor said.

Annette agreed without hesitation. "Okay. What do you want to eat?"

Connor laughed and said, "I'll go to your place for dinner."

Annette was a little hesitant. "But the dishes I cook might not suit your appetite."

"We'll see. I haven't tried it yet. I'm in a meeting. Talk to you later." Connor hung up the phone.

Annette bustled in the kitchen the whole afternoon.

The moment Connor entered Annette's home, he smelled the food.

"What did you cook?" Connor asked.

"Roasted turkey. It's in the oven now," Annette said.

"Are you going to celebrate Thanksgiving with me?" Connor said with a smile.

"Have a seat. I'll bring the food over," Annette quickly said, her face a little red.

Connor washed his hands and walked out of the bathroom. He sat by the dining table filled with all kinds of dishes.

Vegetable salad with sauce, garlic bread, fried bacon, roasted turkey, chowder, and cream macaroni.

Just as Annette was about to sit down, Connor looked at her and asked, "Any wine?"

Annette was embarrassed for a moment. "What do you want to drink? I'll go buy it."

Connor tilted his head and smiled. "Forget it. Remember to prepare the wine when you treat me next time."

Annette sat down and thought, 'Next time?'
