His Hybrid Mate

Chapter 31

Chapter 31

The phone in Annette's backpack rang again.

Connor asked, "Did Kyle pester you again?"

"Did you know?" Annette did not answer Connor's question but said, "I have studied very hard. People think that I am smart and talented. In fact, I worked very hard. I just wanted to fulfill my dream one day, but now, they have destroyed it."

"Them? Who are they?" Connor hugged her tightly, his heart filled with anger.

"Fiona. She gave the position to Kyle's new girlfriend," Annette said tiredly.

Connor's eyes turned serious. He thought, 'So, it was the Luna of the Crystal Pack.'

"If I were replaced because I wasn't good enough for the position, I would accept it. But I can't understand why they have to destroy my future. Is it simply because I am a rogue and a hybrid?"

Annette seemed to have thought of something. Then, she took two steps back from Connor's arms and looked at him.

"What's wrong?" Connor asked in confusion.

Annette took a deep breath and said, "I almost forgot that you are the Alpha of the Blood Moon Pack and the president of a big company. You'll meet Fiona occasionally. You two must be friends, right?"

She shook her head and continued, "I told you these things. Do you think it is ridiculous or not?"

Connor said with a hint of ridicule in his tone, "Are you starting to blame me after you're done complaining? You're the one who came to ask for comfort."

"Sorry, it's my fault. I didn't treat you as Connor just now. I was just tired." Annette sighed, "Forget it. I'm not in a good mood today and I shouldn't talk more. You should go."

She turned around and was about to enter the building. Connor said from behind her, "Annette, I always thought that you were smart, but maybe I was wrong."

Annette turned around and asked, "What do you mean?"

"I think you've become a nerd. Have you ever thought that I could help you? Don't forget that I still owe you one," Connor said calmly.

  Annette was tempted.

However, she had to end her relationship with Connor.

She had never asked for anyone's comfort, but facing Connor, she simply couldn't help it.

Annette had to admit that he could easily make her lower her guard.

She looked at him with a sense of distance in her eyes. "You don't owe me anything. As you said, I was careless that night, so I won't ask you to pay for my mistakes. I'll make it clear again. Connor, please keep a distance from me. Maybe I am different from the girls you know, and you want to pursue me out of curiosity. Well, you should give up that thought. I will never have anything to do with you."

Connor tilted his head and smiled. Annette could not be blunter.

  She disliked him.

He smiled calmly and said, "You kept pushing me away. Is it because of the Black Thorn Pack?"

Annette became alert. He didn't mention the Black Thorn Pack for a long time. She wondered why he suddenly brought it up.

"Are you afraid that your identity as Alpha Lance's illegitimate daughter will be exposed?" Connor suddenly asked.

Annette's expression changed. She looked at Connor in surprise and said, "Are you checking up on me?"

"Yes, a little bit," Connor admitted.

"Why did you do that? What makes you think you can do that?" She was a little agitated.

"I'll check on everyone who works at my house. In addition, you have too many secrets, which made me curious." Connor said with a smile, "Look at you now. You are like a fussed cat."

"Connor, you've crossed the line!" Annette shouted. She did not feel his joke was funny and entered the apartment building angrily.

Connor chased after her and followed her into the elevator.

"It is not your fault. Why did you hide your background?" Connor asked.

Annette didn't say anything along the way, and Connor followed her home.

She opened the door and turned to look at him. "Don't follow me. I don't want someone I hate to stay in my private space."

"Is that so? But you hugged me when you were sad just now." Connor said.

Annette said coldly, "Do you know why I hate you? Because people like you always treat others' pain as a joke."

After that, she entered the room and closed the door.

Connor stood at the door. He had no intention of laughing at her.

He recalled what he had said to her and realized that his jokes were indeed harsh to her.

He knocked on the door, but no one answered.

"Annette, I know you can hear me. I just wanted to tell you that I knew about your identity, so don't refuse me because of the Black Thorn Pack. We are not enemies," Connor said.

In the room, Annette slowly slid to the ground while leaning against the door. She wrapped her arms around her knees and rested her head on them.

She didn't respond to Connor's words.

After a while, she thought that he had left, but his voice came through the door again.

"I'll be leaving. Remember that I still owe you one. You can ask me anytime you want."

  Then, there was dead silence.

Annette knew that Connor had left.

She did not move, sitting by the door.

The rumor said that Connor was a cold-hearted man.

But in Annette's opinion, he was not a bad person.

She felt he was somehow kind.

Although Annette believed that Connor was not a bad person, she didn't want to be anywhere near him.
