His Hybrid Mate

Chapter 24

Chapter 24

"OMG! It can't be that bitch Lena, right? Didn't she get someone to bully you last time?" Roxanne suddenly said.

Annette said indifferently, "It should be fine. I will be careful. Don't worry."

After hanging up the phone, Annette looked at Connor.

She said, "Mr. Norman. If there is nothing else, I'm going up now."

"Who were the bad girls you just mentioned?" Connor asked.

Annette shook her head and replied, "I don't know. Roxanne told me that a few girls rushed into my dormitory to look for me."

Connor raised an eyebrow and said, "It seems that you have offended someone."

Annette did not say more. She opened the door, yet she didn't expect Connor to step into the corridor first.

She felt a little strange and remained where she was.

Connor turned around and asked, "Aren't you coming in?"

"Mr. Norman, are you going to my place?" Annette thought about it and said, "I don't intend to invite a man to my home."

"I don't intend to visit your home. I just want to make sure it is safe up there," Connor said.

Annette looked at him and said, "It's safe upstairs. I just moved in today. No one knows about it yet."

"Are you saying that I am not a person?" Connor's eyes turned sharper.

Annette said a little awkwardly, "You are the Alpha of the Blood Moon Pack and certainly have a way to figure it out."

"What about those people who came to your dormitory? Do you think they can't find out where you live?" Connor asked.

  Annette was silent.

Connor was certain of it because each werewolf's scent was unique. If a werewolf belonged to a certain pack, then his scent might be similar to the others from the same pack, which could hide their whereabouts to a certain extent.

However, Annette was a rogue. She had no idea how easy it was to smell her.

"Let's go." Connor turned around after he finished speaking.

Annette looked at his back helplessly.

If she was indeed in danger, did it have anything to do with him?

However, she couldn't stand outside all night just to stop him from going upstairs. After all, she still had things to do.

Annette followed Connor. He turned to look at her and said, "I thought you were a bold and tough woman."

"What do you mean?" Annette asked, puzzled.

Connor shook his head and said, "Your mate cheated on you, but you were the one who was kicked out of the dormitory, not the home wrecker."

Annette frowned and said, "You investigated me?"

"I'm not that free," Connor denied.

"Then how did you know that?" Annette sounded doubtful.

He said calmly, "Fiona, the Luna of the Crystal Pack, said that her son took fancy to the girls in the same dormitory."

Hearing Connor's explanation, Annette retracted her vigilant gaze.

Then, the elevator stopped and the doors opened. She walked out.

Connor looked at her back and raised his eyebrows with a smile, thinking, 'How naïve she is! She actually believed what I said.'

"You haven't answered my question. Why were you chased out in the end?" Connor said again.

"I wasn't chased out. I chose to leave. She said she wouldn't leave, and I didn't want to be in the same room with her, so I left," Annette replied.

"In my opinion, you were chased out."

"That's what you think. Leaving there is more beneficial for me, and I don't think I lost. On the contrary, I think I won," Annette said calmly.

Connor said disdainfully, "You know how to comfort yourself. What did you win?"

Annette stopped and looked at him. "Freedom and self-esteem."

Annette opened the door of her apartment.

  Connor followed her in.

It was an apartment with a bedroom and a living room.

It was so small that the whole place was smaller than his bedroom.

Connor looked around and said, "How can you live in such a place?"

Annette glanced at Connor and said disdainfully, "Well, it's good enough for me."

"Is it good?" Connor walked to the window and looked out. He continued, "Haven't you thought that it would be better to stay at my house for a while? It suits you better."

"Stay at your house for a while? Why?" Annette walked to the only table in the small living room and put down her bag.

"You can be Marcus' tutor," Connor said.

"No need. Mr. Norman, as you can see, it's safe here. Thank you for your concern, but I need to finish my thesis now." Annette asked him to leave.

Connor sat down on the sofa. "It is safe now, but it does not mean that it will still be safe later. Make me a cup of coffee. After that, I will leave."

He stared at Annette, who didn't look happy.

"I don't have any coffee," Annette said bluntly.

"Some ice water is fine too."

  "Don't have it either."

"Did you always treat your guests this way?" Connor mocked.

Annette sighed, "I just moved here, and the kettle is still in the box. Where can I get you water?"

"I can wait." Connor leaned against the sofa.

Annette took a deep breath and stopped herself from turning angry. "So, you won't leave until I get you some water, right?"

"I deserve a cup of water since I came to visit you. Otherwise, you are not being so polite to me," Connor said, looking up.

Annette walked into the kitchen and took out the newly-bought kettle. She boiled the water and then got a cup of water for Connor.

She stared at him. "Finish it quickly and leave."

Connor rolled his eyes at her and said, "Do you hate me that much? This is hot water."

Annette glanced at the steaming water and then walked back to the table.

"I don't have any ice at home. Just wait for it to cool down and leave after you finish it. I've got to work on my thesis. Don't disturb me," Annette said.
