His Hybrid Mate

Chapter 23

Chapter 23

Austin drove Annette to a park on the outskirts of Akron.

Annette got out of the car and looked around. She asked doubtfully, "Austin, are you taking me here to relax?"

She did not know why he took her to such an empty park. She was not in the mood to shift and run under the moonlight.

"Don't worry." Austin took out his phone and made a call. He said on the phone, "We can start now."

As soon as he finished his words, Annette saw lights twinkling on the trees in the garden and the entire park was lit up.

She watched quietly. The view in front of her was quite pleasant. After a while, she turned to look at Austin.

  "Austin, what is this for?"

"I want to apologize to you." Austin said, "I thought about what you said seriously over the past few days. It made sense. I should not deprive you of the right to make friends."

Annette smiled after what Austin said.

Austin let out a sigh of relief. He continued, "That day, I shouldn't use that tone to talk to you. I was concerned about you, yet you were angry at me, and I was sad. Later on, I thought it through. Since your relationship with the Black Thorn Pack was tense, I shouldn't have forced you to make any decisions. Will you forgive me for that?"

"I know that Alpha Connor is not someone I can afford to mess with," Annette shrugged and said in relief.

"He doesn't deserve you," Austin emphasized.

"Austin, don't say that. I am not his mate," Annette smiled.

Austin nodded. In his heart, Annette was outstanding. He did not think that Annette could not match the Alpha of the Blood Moon Pack just because she was a hybrid rogue.

Annette continued, "I was angry because both you and Alpha Lance thought that I was trying to seduce Alpha Connor. You never believed that Alpha Connor was only my boss at the time. I am not trying to get close to him with some special plans."

"Annette, it was because Alpha Connor's behavior confused me that day. I hope that you can protect yourself. Can you promise me?" Austin said sincerely.

She was somewhat touched. "Austin, don't worry. From now on, I'll have nothing to do with Alpha Connor."

However, just as she finished her words, her phone screen lit up. It was a call from Connor.

Annette's phone was on silent mode, so she did not notice Connor's call.

No one answered the phone, and Connor's patience had reached its limit.

Connor mind linked his Beta and ordered, "Find Annette's current location."

Forty minutes later, Annette returned to the Silver Lake Community, her current home. She walked toward her apartment building and saw a black car parked there.

The car looked a little familiar. However, it was dark, and she was in a hurry, so she did not pay much attention to it.

Just as Annette was about to unlock the door with her key, the car door suddenly opened.

Connor got out of the car and stared at her back.

"Didn't you say that you would live on campus?"

Annette was shocked at the familiar voice.

She turned around and looked at Connor in surprise. "Mr. Norman? Why are you here?"

"It seems that my arrival is always a great shock to you," Connor said in a slightly mocking tone.

Annette was frightened. She moved here today and hadn't told anyone about it yet.

Connor walked to her and said, "In Akron, even if you live in the municipal office, I can still find you."

"Alpha Connor, what can I do for you?" Annette asked helplessly.

Connor was stunned. He didn't have a reason, so he changed the topic.

"I called you. Why didn't you answer the phone?"

"I don't know. I just went to work. My phone is on silent mode," Annette said.

Connor took out his phone and dialed her number again. He found that her phone didn't ring.

Annette took out her phone from her bag and saw a few missed calls. Other than Connor, Roxanne had also called her.

"When I am having a class or working, I will occasionally set my phone into silent mode," Annette explained. She then called Roxanne and asked, "Roxanne, what's up?"

Roxanne's voice was loud, and even Connor could hear it.

Roxanne asked, "Annette, are you okay? Why didn't you answer the phone?"

"I was on shift. What's wrong? You sounded anxious." Annette turned to talk to Roxanne.

Only then did Connor realize that Annette was not playing hard to get.

  It made him quite disappointed.

Connor's displeasure also came from his investigation of Annette. He learned from the Beta that Annette had found her mate at the Werewolf University. It was Kyle, the son of the Alpha of the Crystal Pack.

However, some time ago, Kyle cheated on Annette and chose to be with her roommate.

That might be the reason why Annette went to the bar that night.

Annette did not know that Connor had investigated her. She continued talking to Roxanne on the phone.

On the other side of the line, Roxanne exclaimed, "You've got to run and hide. Did you cross someone?"

Annette thought for a moment and replied, "No. What exactly happened?"

"Someone knocked on the door while I was resting in the dormitory just now. As soon as I opened the door, three bad girls rushed in and said aggressively that they wanted to see you. I told them that you no longer live in the dormitory, and they asked where you live now. I said I didn't know, and then they left."

  "Bad girls?" Annette asked doubtfully.

"Yes. Think about it carefully. Did you offend anyone?" Roxanne asked.

Annette said, "I don't think so. I don't usually interact much with werewolves from other packs."
