Chapter 209
Chapter 209
Roxanne had been worried at home and breathed a sigh of relief when she saw Annette finally return.
She took Annette's bag and expressed her concern, "You are pregnant now. Do you know how worried I am?"
Not in a good mood, Annette lowered her head and said, "Roxanne, I'm fine. Don't worry. I'll go wash my hands."
Roxanne followed behind her and said with concern, "Are you OK? Tell me so I can share the burden with you?"
Annette went out after washing her hands and said, "Roxanne, you can go back home tomorrow."
"Why? Do you think I'm annoying?"
"No," Annette said as she held Roxanne's hand and sat down on the sofa.
"I went to see Lance just now."
"Why? Did he give you a hard time?"
Annette smiled and said reassuringly, "Something happened, and I need to return to Black Thorn Pack and stay for a while."
"Jessica and Leslie hate you so much. If you went back, they would bully you."
Annette shook her head. "They wouldn't dare. They don't know that Connor and I have a falling out, so they won't do anything to me. I'm only staying there for a few days this time and I'll leave as soon as possible. I can't leave you here alone. I'm afraid I wouldn't be able to protect you if they tried to harm you."
"No, I won't leave. I'll wait for you right here."
As Roxanne said, she got up, ran into the kitchen, and then came out with the food.
Annette said in surprise, "You ordered it?"
"No, it was brought by a middle-aged man an hour ago. He said his name was Dwayne, and he was responsible for your meals."
Annette explained, "Dwayne was Connor's butler. He is kind."
"Well, you should eat something. Maybe you don't feel hungry, but the baby in your belly needs food."
Roxanne seemed to have thought of something and said seriously, "Let's be godmothers to our children in the future."
Annette nodded with a smile. "Okay."
Roxanne touched Annette's belly excitedly and said, "Baby, be good in your mommy's belly. In seven months, you will be able to meet me."
The next morning, Roxanne sent Annette downstairs.
Unexpectedly, as soon as they walked out of the apartment building, they saw Connor.
Annette frowned and thought, 'Why is he here again?'
Roxanne said, "Ann, call me after you arrive at the Black Thorn Pack. I'll go upstairs first."
She then turned around to run away.
Annette looked at Connor coldly and asked, "What are you here for?"
"I heard that you were going back to the Black Thorn Pack today."
Annette glanced back at Roxanne's back and muttered, "Roxanne, such a big-mouthed woman."
Connor said, "Even if she didn't say it, I would know sooner or later."
Annette retorted, "I'm indeed going back to the Black Thorn Pack. Does it have anything to do with you?"
Connor insisted, "Annette, you know me. I know you wouldn't want to see me, but I still came."
Annette's expression became solemn as she asked, "What do you want to do?"
"I'll take you back and have Dwayne stay there with you."
Annette said impatiently, "I don't need your hypocritical concern."
She was clear that Connor loved Alina, and his behavior irritated her.
"If you hate my help that much, just think of me as someone who cares about our child."
Annette hesitated and didn't speak.
Connor continued, "You're upset right now, so you don't want to tell me why you have to go back to the Black Thorn Pack. If you go back alone, I'm afraid that they will bully you. You don't want me to accompany you, but at least let me send you back. On one hand, it is to put pressure on the Black Thorn Pack; on the other hand, I can arrange for Dwayne to go with you. I trust him very much, and I will only be at ease with him by your side."
Annette didn't want to have any more involvement with Connor, but she was worried about the baby in her belly. Sure enough, Connor knew her weakness well.
Annette once again harbored resentment in her heart. 'He is so good to me. Why is it all just a facade?
'Even though what he did was all fake, I still fell for him.'
Annette walked toward Connor's car.
Dwayne stood at the car door and greeted her respectfully. "Luna."
Annette nodded at him and got into the car.
Connor turned around and looked at her. Although she was angry, she remained rational and was able to weigh the pros and cons.
That was what he admired the most.
Half an hour later, they arrived at Alpha's villa of the Black Thorn Pack.
Annette smirked as she noticed there was not a single person at the door.
She knew Lance did it intentionally.
She sat still in the car, accompanied by Connor.
Dwayne turned around and asked, "Luna, shall I knock on the door?"
Annette shook her head and said, "No need. Wait a while."
Dwayne didn't say anything more.
Half an hour passed.
Connor asked Annette, "Do you know what the Black Thorn Pack is trying to tell us?"
Annette raised her eyebrows and replied, "They want to embarrass me."
"No. They are telling you that nobody cares about you and that you'll have a hard time here."
Annette cast a calm gaze toward the entrance of the villa.
She was prepared since she promised to return.
She didn't care at all how indifferent they would be.
It was just that Annette couldn't compromise, or she would be bullied in the future.
"Dwayne, call Lance and tell him I'm back and to do as I said. I'll give him 5 minutes. If he doesn't show up, then the deal will be canceled and I'll head back."
"Yes, Luna."
Downey got out of the car and made a phone call.
Soon, the gate of the villa opened, and two servants walked out.
One of them approached the car and knocked on the window. "Annette, I'm here to take you home."
Connor opened the car window.
The servants of the Black Thorn Pack became nervous upon seeing him and said, "Alpha Connor."
Connor did not respond.
Annette looked coldly at the servants and said, "Where are your Alpha and Luna?"
"Alpha Lance ordered us to show you the way home."
"Go tell Lance that he knows what I want."
Seeing that Annette refused to get out of the car, the servants had to hurry back to the villa.
Less than two minutes later, Lance came out in person. He walked to the car and said with a serious expression, "Ann, you're just going home. Do you need a grand welcome ceremony?"
Then, Lance looked at Connor and said, "Even Alpha Connor came."
"Annette suddenly wanted to go back to stay in the Black Thorn Pack for a few days. I have no choice but to send her back in person," Connor wore a long face when facing Lance.
Lance nodded and turned to Annette, saying, "The others are not at home. As the pack's Alpha, I'm picking you up on behalf of the whole Black Thorn Pack. Come home with me."
Lance walked toward Annette and opened the car door for her.
Annette got out of the car, and Connor followed her into the villa.
Lance asked the servants to serve tea and snacks.
He brewed red tea for Connor and Annette in person.
Connor did not accept it. He said, "I didn't come here to drink tea today. Annette will stay in the Black Thorn Pack for a few days. She is spoiled by me and has a bad temper, so if anyone in your pack can't stand her, send her back to me immediately. Be nice to her, and don't irritate her as you owe her. Also, I have arranged for a butler and servants to take care of her. She will not stay here for too long, and I will only give you a week to perform."
