Chapter 153
Chapter 153
"Ms. Hall, are you mad at me because I came to see you?" Alina suddenly said.
Annette closed her eyes and took a deep breath. "No, I'm just a little busy. If there's nothing else, I have to go back."
She nodded at Alina and turned to walk back to school.
Alina lowered her eyes and said in a low voice, "Ms. Hall, I'm pregnant."
Annette suddenly stood still and had mixed feelings in her mind.
'Pregnant?
Alina came to tell me about it in person. Is she pregnant with Connor's child?'
At the thought of that, Annette clenched her fists.
It was impossible. Alina was Lucas' mate. Connor would never do that to his brother.
Perhaps he would buy Alina expensive clothes, but no matter how much he loved Alina, he would not hurt Lucas.
Annette had faith in Connor at this point.
She turned around and looked at Alina. "Congratulations, Ms. Grace."
Alina sighed. "I don't think it is worthy of congratulations. Because of the child, Lucas and I had a big fight. This is the first time we've argued with each other since we married."
"It's a good thing to have a child. Why did you quarrel?"
"Actually, it was not a quarrel. I was mad at Lucas," Alina said with a depressed look. "I don't want the child, but Lucas said that I have to give birth to it."
Annette was puzzled. "Ms. Grace, why don't you want to have a child?"
"Lucas' legs are crippled, and he can't walk. It is not a good thing for us to have children." Alina lowered her head.
Annette did not understand. In a powerful pack like the Blood Moon Pack, could Alina's words be a reason to give up a child?
Annette thought for a moment and then said, "There are many servants at home. Even if you have a child, it won't be too hard for you."
"If I had a child, I would take care of it myself. That way, I wouldn't have the time to look after Lucas. And I don't want others to laugh at my child about having a disabled father."
"Those who laugh at others are ill-bred. You don't have to care about them," Annette advised.
"I don't care, but what about my child?" Alina shook her head and said, "I'm worried that my child will be hurt because of Lucas' situation. If so, Lucas would also be hurt. I don't want that to happen."
"So, you quarreled because of this?" Annette asked.
Alina looked down and said bitterly, "I didn't tell him about my worries. I don't want Lucas to know that I care about those things. He will be upset. He thought that I gave up on the child because I didn't forget my previous relationship, so we argued."
Annette said apologetically, "I'm sorry, Ms. Grace. I don't know how to comfort you. It is your family business, and I am just an outsider."
"I know." Alina took a deep breath and said, "I am in a quandary. I can't find any help and feel that I am going crazy. I went back to the Blood Moon Pack to ask Connor to persuade Lucas, but I didn't even dare to mention it. Ms. Hall, I have never been so confused even on the most painful days. Connor said you are smart. If you were me, what would you do?"
Annette shook her head. "I'm not you, so my opinion doesn't mean anything."
"Lucas is so good to me. I can't bear having an abortion. I just want to know what others will choose. Will they be as hesitant as I am?"
Annette said, "If I were you, I would consider whether I loved him and whether he loved me or not. If the two conditions were fulfilled, I would not be hesitant. Moreover, you are Lucas' mate, and he has the right to ask you to give birth to the child."
Annette thought that Alina's biggest mistake now was that she was not clear about her current identity.
Alina did not want to give birth to the child because he didn't love Lucas.
By doing so, she hurt both Connor and Lucas, and she was selfish.
Alina stood in place and was lost in thought.
Annette looked at the watch on her wrist. "Ms. Grace, I can't stay for long. I have to go back."
Alina came back to her senses and put on an easy-going smile. "Ms. Hall, I'm sorry for taking up your time. I will think about it carefully when I go back. Bye."
Annette nodded. She walked a few steps forward and then turned around. "Ms. Grace."
Alina looked at her.
Annette said calmly, "Not all children will dislike their parents because of others' ridicule. As long as the child was loved, everything would turn out just fine."
Alina frowned and did not say anything.
Annette nodded at her and turned back to school.
Alina looked at Annette's back, and her eyes became colder.
Back to the office, Annette opened the drawer and stared at the men's clothes, depressed.
Only she and Sara were in the office. Sara saw Annette's upset look and asked, "What's the matter? Did something happen to you?"
She looked up at Sara and shook her head with a smile. "It's nothing."
"But you look strange."
Annette leaned closer to Sara. "Sara, if a man has a mate but still buys clothes for his ex-girlfriend, what does it mean?"
Sara stared at Annette for a while. "Are you talking about Alpha Connor?"
Annette nodded gloomily.
Sara asked, "Do you think Alpha Connor still loves that woman?"
"I don't know," Annette frowned and said. "I don't even know what happened between them."
"Was she his first love?"
Annette said hesitantly, "I think so."
Sara scratched the space between her eyebrows. "First love is always unforgettable."
Annette suddenly tensed up.
"Annette, you don't have to worry too much. With Alpha Connor's identity and status, if he loved her deeply, he wouldn't allow her to be someone else's mate. No one in Akron dares to snatch a woman from him after all. Don't you think so?"
Annette forced a smile. Connor would not give in to others, but Lucas was his brother.
Annette nodded. She could not tell Sara too much. She opened the documents she had just received and began to read them.
After work, Sara and Eden left. Annette sat in front of her desk for more than ten minutes before she opened the drawer and took out the men's clothing. She took it and left the school.
Leonard was waiting at the school gate to pick her up.
When Annette got out of the car, she left the bag in the car and did not take it with her.
She decided not to give the clothes to Connor.
After she left, Leonard opened the door of the back seat and saw the bag.
He took out his phone and was about to call Annette.
